Ariana woke up to find Nate, Alexa and herself sprawled across the floor. She blinked her eyes several times to clear her vision. Her room was a total mess. There were empty bottles and chips packets scattered everywhere. She took out a rubber band from her pocket and tied her hair whilst remembering last night with a smile on her face.
After the "cremation ceremony", they had turned on some music on her laptop and sang along the lyrics on top of their voices. They stayed up all night eating and drinking till sunrise. Only then, had they fallen asleep. She wondered why the guard or the other students hadn't come to complain about the noise.
As she grabs her phone to check time, she sees a message from Sean reminding her of the 8 am class. All the fatigue and drowsiness from the day before vanished.
She immediately woke up Nate and went to the bathroom to freshen up. As she entered, her eyes went to the bucket involuntarily. His handkerchief hadn't been burnt completely. The part, where his initial was engraved, was untouched by fire and was floating on the surface of water. She picked up the bucket and poured it empty into the commode, then flushed it.
Ariana made way to the classroom. On the way, she met Mr. Windsor, who wished her a good morning and advised her to work hard to become a healer. Ariana assured him without a doubt. She was looking forward to study.
When she had come out of the bathroom, Nate was gone already and Alexa was still asleep. She hadn't bothered to wake her up as they had a normal class at 11 only.
Ariana saw a student entering the classroom before her. She saw the professor scolding him as he was late. She recognized the professor from yesterday's class. It was Professor Paulo. Professor Paulo told him that he would mark him present but he wasn't allowed to attend the class. Now, Ariana was scared.
She took a deep breath and walked to the classroom's door timidly. "May I come in, Professor?" She asked.
Professor Paulo was about to explode but when he turned his gaze towards her, his demeanor changed. "You may. However, you shall not next time."
Ariana was relieved. "There shall not be a next time, Professor. I thank you for your lenience this time." She expressed her gratitude. Professor Paulo nodded.
Sean was a bit shocked listening to Ariana talk like that. He reminded himself that she was from the supernatural world too. So, she obviously talked like them. Extremely formal. However, he was more shocked about Professor letting her in when he just had denied the other student. He heard girls in front of him whispering.
"We are in a world different from ours. However, hierarchy remains the same."
"Of course. The rules are different for commoner Damon and Alpha-born Lady Bennet." The other whispered, shaking her head in disapproval.
"Fortunately, we have two Alpha born in our class. What a delight!" Her friend remarked sarcastically.
All three of them chuckled. However, when Ariana passed through them, they lowered their eyes and bowed slightly. Sean looked around and noticed that all of them were doing the same.
Ariana sat next to Sean and thought. "So the realm wasn't informed of my little stunt in the coronation ceremony. And I wasn't stripped off my titles either."
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Nate's voice. "Professor. May I come in?"
Ariana cringed when Professor Paulo let him in without a qualm and even bowed for him. Although Nate had already passed down the title of Alpha to his sister, seemed like people didn't accept that and still thought he would step up for the title in near future. The idea of elder children not succeeding their parents was uncommon for them after all.
"You people seem to bow for both of the Alpha born despite your big talk." Penny smiled as she addressed the girls from before. She had been listening to them the entire time.
"Which pack are you from, puppet? Ravernia or Ziram?" The girl asked with a sweet smile on her face.
"Ravernia." Penny stated proudly. "And you would have been defending Lord Christopher had he been present here as well. But do you see him stepping down from his high horse and training with us commoners to serve the kingdom? Absolutely not, as he is busy romancing with his mate in luxury of the castle of Pack Celik."
"Damn!" Saoirse thought. "The girl we met yesterday was all Lady Ariana welcome, Lady Ariana thank you, Lady Ariana this, Lady Ariana that. But this girl here...she spits fire."
"And she's also from our Ravernia. She didn't tell that yesterday." Ariana answered excitedly.
"Lord Harris shall definitely serve the Kingdom in much profound scale when he becomes the Alpha." The offended girl answered fiercely.
"He hasn't yet?" Ariana thought to herself.
"Our Alpha has already. Don't know what yours doing." Penny folded her hands.
Ariana felt a pang in her chest. Anwar had been waiting to be the Alpha since his childhood and Ariana had been waiting to see her brother become the Alpha since her childhood. But she missed it.
"You girl. Stand up!" Professor Paulo pointed at Penny. Penny stood up slowly. The girls beside her snickered.
"You seem to be disturbing my class with you talks. Let us hear what you were saying. Even we should be known about something which is much more important than this class."
Penny froze. Should she make up an excuse or should she simply apologize? Either way, she knew she wouldn't be forgiven.
"Professor, I accidently dropped my pen. I had asked her for her help as I couldn't find it anywhere. She merely said that to me that she couldn't see it anywhere either. It's not her fault." Ariana stood up and explained.
Professor Paulo narrowed his eyes. "It seems you were only trying to help. So, sit down both of you." He turned around and started writing on the whiteboard.
Ariana sat down.
"Protecting your pack member, huh?" Nate smirked.
"It's my duty."
After Professor completes his lecture, he starts asking questions.
"What are the major symptoms of canine distemper?"
Many students raised their hands., including Sean. Ariana was about to raise hers as well when Nate stopped her. "You seem to have forgotten about our plan, Topper."
Ariana was about to ask, "What plan?", when she remembered their plan from before. Their plan to fail.
Somebody else answered, earning a nod from Professor Paulo.
Professor asked questions for about half an hour. At the end of each question, Ariana had a strong urge to raise her hand and answer it.
"It's killing you, isn't it?" Nate shook his head as he chuckled.
Ariana gave him a stern look. She looked at Sean, who was beside her, with envy as he was chosen to answer five questions among all those who had raised hands. She clenched her fist tightly.
Nate had his head rested on his hand and was looking at her struggling the whole time with a smile on his face. He saw her pacing back and forth and mumbling the answers. She was making it harder for him to suppress his laughter.
"Ari? You're alright?" Sean asked.
Ariana scrunched her nose. "Just wait till the human anatomy class. I'll destroy everyone there." She thought.
The class finally ended. So did Ariana's struggle. However, the professor didn't let them leave.
"Lastly, we should all pray for our King as we know how much he is suffering at the moment."
Everyone started praying. "Oh Moon Goddess! Give our King all the strength that he requires. May our happiness and age be granted to him instead..."
"What the fuck. I'm in a cult." Sean whispered lightly to himself.
"Be thankful that everybody is busy praying and no one had their hearing power activated." Ariana whispered to him.
"Right." He answered. "How could I forget? I must be careful." He thought.
When everyone stopped praying, Nate "prayed" loudly. "Oh Moon Goddess. I pray for my King. I pray that he finds his true mate and happiness immediately as the fake mate is finally out of his life."
Everyone gasped loudly. Nate, however, was unfazed. He felt Ariana shooting dagger at him with her eyes. "What? It was just a joke..."
"Don't pray for that. Even as a joke.. I don't know what I'll do if that comes true."
