"Practical starts from tomorrow." Sean sighed as he checked his phone.
"I know." remarked Nate, who was busy flipping through pages of a book of basic pathology.
"How? This e-mail was forwarded just now." asked Sean in a bored tone.
"Mind-links." answered Ariana.
"Wow...You guys don't need phones and internet."
"Not true. Not everyone can mind-link everyone. Like if strangers want to mind-link me, they don't have access unless I give them. And what if you wish to invite someone for a party or a meeting? Those need formal invitation. Hence, internet is used for that. It's also used to maintain contact with other supernatural creatures."
"Oh..."
"And postal service has become a luxury nowadays. Only high ranks use it."
"The irony..." Sean smiled.
"Sshh-" Nate shushed them. Ariana looked ahead to see Alexa approaching them.
"I searched for you guys everywhere and y'all in the library! Let's go somewhere else." Alexa demanded.
"As you can't see, we're studying." answered Nate sharply.
Ariana noticed Alexa looking here and there as if checking for someone. "Don't worry. Ryan isn't here. I saw Ms. Rachael sending him to receive some books for that shelf."
Alexa was visibly relaxed. She pulled out a chair and sat beside Nate.
All four of them studied for three hours straight, taking occasional breaks to drink water and go to the loo.
Sean turned towards Ariana and asked a question. Ariana began explaining the answer. Sean yawned and started leaning his head on her shoulder gradually. As she continued, he frequently nodded his head, which now laid fully rested on her shoulder, letting her know that he was listening.
"Aww... look at them." Alexa cooed.
Nate lifted his gaze slightly to see them. Oh how he wished to snap a picture of the scenery and send it to the bastard Xavier.
"I advised Sean to ask Ari out a long time ago, you know. But now I understand his approach. Slow and steady wins the race." Alexa was grinning from ear to ear.
Nate shook his head in disapproval. "There's no time for slow and steady when the girl's literal soulmate is out there in the world."
Alexa's smile fell. "Wait! Are you talking about yourself? Are you in love with Ariana?"
"What? No! I wasn't talking about myself."
"Okay. Then, who? That X man? Lol. He isn't her X. He is her ex."
"Shut up about the X!"
"Haha. Tell that to your cheating ex who must be shouting the name of that X at night."
"No no. I should have told you to shut up when you were murmuring the name of your ex in sleep."
"You're just making it up out of spite. I'm already over Edric. I even burned him yesterday. Ari burned her ex too. So, nobody can stop her from being with Sean. You go fuck yourself with your bad omen."
"You know nothing." Nate narrowed his eyes.
"Yeah yeah, sour grapes. Now, I get why you broke up with me as soon as Ari came in picture. Are you gonna duel with Sean for her now?" Alexa smirked.
"You're expecting drama from the wrong person, Lexie. Oh but that doesn't mean there won't be drama. There will be. Lots of it. But from someone else. Sadly, you won't be there to see it." Nate smirked in return.
"You're not making any sense." Alexa rolled her eyes.
"I've noticed you two are arguing a lot since you've stopped sleeping with each other." said Sean. His head no longer rested on Ariana's shoulder.
"Great advice for you and Ari in future. Whenever there is an argument, just have sex." Alexa winked.
"What? That is not a healthy way of solving problem." Sean scoffed.
"Yes and have you ever seen us arguing?" Ariana asked before scoffing herself.
"Yeah yeah. The lovey-dovey couple will never have any arguments in future." Alexa teased with a grin.
"We're not a couple." Ariana murmured while lowering her head.
"Yeah. We're not a couple right now." Sean agreed.

"You guys won't let me study!" Nate spat before standing up and leaving. Alexa followed and piggybacked him. "Sour grapes!" She laughed.
"Sshhh..." Other students started shushing.
Nate glared at them harshly before shaking his body. "Get off of me, you ogre!"
Alexa tightened her hold. "Whatever! You slept with this ogre. Multiple times."
"They look cute, don't they?" Ariana turned towards Sean.
"Yup. Only an extrovert like Alexa can handle his grumpy attitude." said Sean. He reached out for his pocket and pulled out a KitKat. He started opening it, careful enough not to make a sound.
"You brought a chocolate to the library?" Ariana asked in a hushed tone.
"Well yeah. Remember last time? We had fun eating chocolates and studying."
"We were in my room that night and if Ms. Rachael sees us, she might ban us for a couple of days."
"You're such a goody two shoes." Sean smiled.
"Oh do not underestimate me. I can be evil if I want to." Ariana narrowed her eyes and deepened her voice.
"Yeah you can." Sean shook his head as he chuckled.
"I'll admit I used to be a fool but I was never a goody two shoes. I used to get in trouble all the time. You have no idea how many times I've been punished by my father because of my sister." Ariana tried to convince him.
"Well your sister must have set you up all the time. I don't think you did anything wrong. I'm a single child but I've seen sibling rivalry between my cousins. The younger one set up the elder one all the time."
"Yeah that brat set me up many times but I was an easy target because of my foolishness. I used to get angry so quickly and act impulsively. Instead of playing smart like her, I used to act on impulse. So it was easier for her and her little gang to frame me. You know, if she challenged me to jump into a well to prove that I'm better than her, the old me would do that too. I was that fucking dumb-"
Ariana went on a rant for few minutes. Previously, who was there to listen to her? Her father wouldn't hear a thing against her sister, her mother would force her to forgive her as she is family, her brother was busy training for Alpha position most of the time, her friends wouldn't dare to go against the Alpha's favorite, neither would the servants. Her hope for her mate listening to her was crushed. As awful as it sounded, it was liberating for her to talk shit about her family members.
When she finally stopped, Sean noticed how disturbed she was recalling all those horrible memories. He put forward the KitKat which had been sitting on table the whole time. "Have a break."
Ariana stared at it for a while before looking at Sean and smiling. "Thank you."
They broke it into two halves and stared eating. "Why didn't you take it out before? Nate and Alexa were here." asked Ariana.
"Exactly. They were here. I didn't want to share it with them." Sean scrunched his nose.
"Goddess! You're so petty." Ariana laughed.
"Oh I am being petty? Just be grateful that I'm at least sharing it with you."
"You're right. Thank you so much, Your Majesty, for giving two pieces of KitKat to this peasant."
Ariana placed one piece in her mouth with half of it inside and half of it outside. She was about to chew when Sean leaned in and bit the half which was outside and pulled out the whole piece from Ariana's mouth.
Ariana's cheeks turned red. Their lips had almost brushed. She wasn't certain whether to be mad at him for stealing her piece of chocolate in such a manner or be flustered as no one had been in this close proximity with her lips.
Sean was looking at her face while chewing silently. He was sure Ariana had never looked this beautiful before as she was looking now while blushing. He felt pace of his heart quickening.

"Minister Aldino. It is our wish that every student of this year as well as a decade more to come shall be granted scholarship by the Institution. Royal account shall be balanced by taking out the amount required from our personal vault." King Xavier, who was seated on the head of the table, commanded.
There were murmurs of praise from either side of the table.
"His Majesty is very kind..."
"Goddess bless His Majesty..."
"The kingdom shall be evermore grateful..."
"Even in the time of his grief, His Majesty puts his subjects first..."
Minister Aldino stood up. "Your wish is my command, My King." He bowed.
"Enjoy your meal, my lords and ladies." Everyone stood up as King Xavier stood up and left the dining hall.
He went away from all the hustle and bustle of his courtiers and stood on a balcony, admiring the serene glare casted upon the Earth by the crescent moon.
"Oh Moon Goddess, please forever show your grace to my Ariana.." He prayed.
