Chapter 46: 46. Love Triangle Begins

Sean was standing still in dismay.

Dr. Windsor grabbed his shoulder and shook him awake. "Are you alright?" He asked again.

Sean gulped and nodded his head nervously. He looked towards the door through which Saoirse had left. Suddenly, his face fell and his eyes widened in panic.

"She wasn't supposed to shift!" He whispered to himself before turning towards Nate and saying out loud, "Dr. Howard had strictly told her not to shift. She is too weak for that, Nate!"

Nate had first been anticipating Xavier's misery on seeing Ariana and Sean together with immense enthusiasm. However, he had never imagined that Xavier would lose control to the point that their Alpha Wolf would appear in front of them. A heartbroken Xavier was his desire. Not a vindictive Alpha King.

"Hadn't he said that he only wants her forgiveness? " Nate was thinking to himself when he heard Sean take fright.

Sean was right. Shifting would deplete the energy Ariana had been receiving from her wolf for her survival. They had been informed about it by Dr. Howard.

Before Nate could say or do something, he saw Kon run out of the Ball Room. One could correctly predict where he was headed.

Sean too was about to head out in search of Ariana when Mr. Windsor put a hand on his shoulder to stop him and gave a stern warning look. He then glanced at Nate, who shook his head as well. Defeated, he did nothing but stand there and see a woman run out the door, followed by four other people.

Three guards had gathered and were discussing whether to go after the white wolf they had seen some minutes ago limp past them towards the inner bailey or not. As they were talking to each other, they saw their Alpha Wolf coming towards them.

All three of them immediately bended their knees and lowered their head in respect while he dashed past them.

Meanwhile Xavier took back control and shifted into human form. While taking long strides towards his Ariana, he did not notice or acknowledge guards kneeling down for him left and right.

Following her scent, he reached the courtyard in front of the Imperial Wing. He felt his whole body swell in anxiety and heart rate increase as he saw his Saoirse laid on the ground motionless.

"Guards! Fetch a healer! This instant!"

He shouted the order while he rushed towards her and carried her in his arms. Without a second thought, he started walking towards the nearby Wing. Two guards opened the main door to the Wing without any question.

Xavier entered the Imperial Wing with Ariana in his arms.

Luna Barbara had followed him to the courtyard, wailing and sobbing for her daughter. And Alpha Edward, Anwar, Naomi and Persephone had followed Luna Barbara.

They were about to go inside as well when the guards, who had opened the main door, put their spears forward, blocking them.

"How dare you!" Alpha Edward roared.

The guard took a deep breath and replied, "Apologies, Alpha. But you might be aware which Wing this is."

"I am." answered Persephone as she wandered her eyes around the living room inside the Wing with longing . This was the rightful place to live in for the King and the Queen. Their private abode, out of everyone else's reach.

However, despite her request, emotional blackmail and every other attempt, Xavier had never decided to moved in. They had stayed in the Crown Prince's chamber only throughout their conjugal life.

Although the Wing had been empty for years, it had been cleaned and maintained every day.

Xavier placed Saoirse on the bed with care. He opened all the curtains to let the moonlight in and hurriedly returned by her side. He dipped his hand inside a pitcher full of water placed on the bedside table and scooped out a little bit to sprinkle on her face.

His soul returned to his body when he saw Saoirse open her eyes.

"Oh thank Moon Goddess." He whispered as a smile of relief graced on his lips. He scooted closer to her.

Saoirse let out a weak growl.

His smile vanished and a frown replaced it. "Please don't do that." He mewled and started stroking her head dotingly.

"Let me heal you." He murmured.

When he did not hear her protest, he leaned in and placed a tender kiss on her forehead.

"You are so beautiful, Saoirse...."

"My love... My moonlight..."

"You do not understand the depth of my love for you..."

He started whispering sweet nothings near her ear while continuing to run his hand through her fur.

The guards at the door only let their spears down, with their King's permission through mind-link, to make way for Mr. and Mrs. Windsor as they were the most qualified healers present inside the Palace. While they were entering, Nate arrived and entered along with them.

They reached outside the main chamber and were about to knock when Xavier opened the door.

"Your Majesty." Vanity Windsor greeted solemnly. Mr. Windsor on the other hand seemed displeased.

Xavier nodded his head and let them in.

"Let us not make the room crowded, Your Majesty?" Nathaniel suggested.

Despite giving him a sharp glare in annoyance, Xavier agreed and walked out of the room with him. The pair closed the door behind them and stood in front of it. They remained in silence.

Ultimately Nathaniel decided to test the water.

"The person His Majesty was about to attack earlier," He caught Xavier's attention at that.

"His Majesty should know that he is his cousin brother."

Xavier had not known that. His brows furrowed at that information.

Thinking this would now compel Xavier to restrain himself from hurting Sean, Nate was pleased. However, his solace was short lived when he heard Xavier ask,

"Have you ever killed, My Lord?"

Nate was taken aback. Nevertheless, he answered. "Yes."

"I'm not talking about your wolf hunting rabbits and deer, Alpha."

Nate took a moment before rectifying his answer. "Then no, Your Majesty."

"Oh." said Xavier. "Then My Lord should know that there is an exceptional difference between his wolf simply hunting chickens and him killing someone with his own bare hands."

An eerie emotion formed inside Nate witnessing the darkness in Xavier.

The door opened and Mr. and Mrs. Windsor emerged.

"There isn't anything to worry about. But as we and Dr. Howard had said before, she should not have shifted. She doesn't have much strength left at the moment due to all the blood donations. She could've been permanently stuck in her wolf form to stay alive. Thankfully, she will be able to recover and shift back to her human form after some days this time." said Vanity Windsor.

"It was due to the presence of her mate. It is advised that she remains near her mate in order for speedy recovery." Mrs. Windsor added.

"Thank you Uncle and Aunt Vanity." said Xavier, dismissing them.

Mr. and Mrs. Windsor took the cue and left, followed by Nate.

Xavier walked inside his chamber and closed the door.
