I stand frozen by the lake for a long time. I can't understand what is happening. Maybe I'm dead and now in the afterlife; it doesn't look too bad. Or am I reborn? That doesn't make sense because this body is around 20 years old. So that means I got transported into another body. But whose body is it? Did he die, and I took over? Did I push him out, or is he still in here somewhere?

I'm in a stranger's body and have no clue where I'm. Am I still on the same land, or did this body live elsewhere? That's possible because I didn't recognize the trees, nuts, or landscape.

It's all so bizarre. Don't panic-Calm down-Relax. You got this.
It takes me a couple of minutes to get calm again.

At least I have food and water. It's the little things that count. Right?
I'm sure some people already would have a plan to get out of this situation, but I also know some people would be much more freaked out by this, maybe even cry or panic. I do nothing of these, so I'm at a good starting point. I didn't panic... you've mistaken me for somebody else.

Therefore I start planning my way to civilization. Are there even humans in this world? Ignore that, please. I'm stupid. I'm in a human body, so there have to be others.

First, I need supplies for my journey, and I have both, but no way to transport the water with me, so I need a container. That's a problem because I don't have anything like that. I will figure it out later.

As a result, I'm going to get food first. Thus, I'm going back to my sleeping place at the tree. As I gather the nuts, I realize I haven't eaten anything since morning. Yet, I have a lot of energy and feel terrific. These are some excellent nuts.

I pick 15. However, I have no idea how to bring them with me.
I could take my sweater, it's a little dirty but not too bad, so I tie the sleeves together. Whomever this guy was, at least he had some good clothes. Too soon?

Now I have a big bag; not too bad. As I said, it's the small things.
I fill half of it and leave room for the water.

Good, I need to figure out how to bring as much water as possible. In the meantime, I peel one more nut from the tree. While I eat, I take the shell and play with it. I tried to put the two halves back together, and it worked better than I intended. Instead of falling apart as I thought, they stick together—what a helpful thing.

I pick some more and skin them, then fill them with water.

I take a few sips from the lake and begin my voyage. If I'm not mistaken, yesterday I went to the east. For this reason, I'm going north today. Overall I prepared as well as I could.

The first day was hot and sweaty—very dull, more than I thought possible. I walked until it was too dark to get going. I'm camping under a tree like I will for the next few days. I drink the last of my first water shell before I sleep. I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry.

This day was the same. I assumed my legs would be sore today, but I feel like new. The weather was a lot warmer than yesterday. I wonder where I'm. Will I encounter people soon? I hope so. I'm tired. I lie down by a tree and go to sleep.

I wake up with the sun again, eat a nut, and drink a few sips. That will be my routine for the near future. It's the third day, and I'm already getting depressed. But I have to push myself. There's an end to this.

On eve I arrive at a mysterious wall; I can't look through. It's almost invisible. I only could see it when I was almost in front of it, and it sparkled. That's how I know there is something. I walk closer and stretch my hand out. The wall feels like nothing, and my hand slips right through and disappears. I panic for a second, but I can still feel my hand, and there's no pain. It was undamaged when I pulled it out.

A few minutes passed since I pulled my hand back out. I still stand in front of the stupid wall. I'm not scared to go through it. No, I'm just--taking a break, you know, from all the walking.
"Three....two....one.... go", I jump.

I rub my eyes. Before me, on the horizon, from right to left, are stretching the tallest mountains I have ever seen. They're vanishing into the clouds, so I can't even see the peak. It's crazy.

When I turn back, I can see where I came from. I go inside, and the mountains disappear. I can look inside but not outside. Interesting, I guess.

It's getting dark soon. Thus I decided to sleep the night inside the wall. I feel safer inside. I'm not scared. You are.

I continue my travel to the mountains early in the morning. I'm down to 13 nuts to eat and 12 nuts of water, so I have around 12 days until it gets tricky. That's not a problem for now. Maybe I can find more, but if the terrain doesn't change, I doubt it. There're no more trees or grass, only stones.

----------------

It's the tenth day of my journey to find civilization, and I'm getting anxious that I could have made a mistake. Should I have stayed in one place until somebody finds me? No, probably not.

I'm getting closer to the mountains, almost halfway there. Standing on a small hill, an enormous forest stretches before me. Now I have to decide where to go next.

I'm looking at the mountains from right to left and notice that the hills are starting small west and getting larger to the east. I'm no expert, but couldn't there be a coast or something on the west side? Or, my brain is searching for an excuse to keep going. Unfortunately, I don't have much choice.

After a good sleep at the edge of the forest, because I'm not scared. I walk through the woods to the west of the mountains. I have five of each nuts left, and if I don't find anything, I may have to get by with half a nut a day.

The walk through the forest is quiet, with no birds or insects, nothing. It makes me uncomfortable. I don't know if it's just me or if other people would feel that way too.

Nevertheless, it's a beautiful piece of land with huge trees, some even over 50 meters. I like that the branches grow into one another and connect. It would be cool to run on there.

Only a little sun shines through the trees, making the temperature pleasant. Not that I notice anymore, I have already adapted to the hot weather.

Noon is getting closer, and I feel bad about my first night in the forest. Therefore I'm looking for my sleeping place. I have a few places in mind—my number one spot for the last two weeks is the foot of a tree. I could sleep by the roots, which would give me a little protection.

My second idea is a cave, but the landscape won't provide me with one just because I want to. And then there is my last idea. I like it the most because it's like my first, just a little higher. Yeah, pretty sure I'm going to sleep on a tree tonight. Little upgrade for me. Just have to find one with a suitable branch.

Did you ever just turn randomly to see that somebody was watching you? Yes? Yeah, I've had the feeling a few times now, but every time I turn, there's nothing. I need to find my tree for tonight before it's too dark.

By the time it started getting darker, I had that feeling a few more times and still didn't find my tree. I'm getting a little scared and just begin to run. Maybe whoever or whatever is watching me gets surprised and loses me.

I'm running fast, jumping across the roots. This body is very athletic, and it comes effortlessly to me. I ran full speed for around 30 minutes, and the bad feeling lessened. Finally, I spot a tree with a branch big enough for me. I run straight toward the tree. I notice a gap. I put my right foot there and pushed myself up as hard as possible. I fly up and grab a branch with my hands and pull myself up. After a few jumps and more pull-ups, I'm sitting 25 meters above ground on the big branch I eyed before. I realize how easy it was to get up here and drink a little water; now, four left. It will be enough if I don't have to run every day, but I doubt it.

I wake up to a rustle at the back of the tree. Are there animals, after all? I carefully get up and crawl closer to the sounds. I look down and see... small green dwarfs? Are these Goblins? They're Goblins, for sure. How-Why? I mean... Did these fuckers been watching me? Why would they be watching me? I don't think I should try to communicate with them for now. They could be hostile.

But if they're the ones who have been watching me, how did they find me? Did they track me down by my footprints, or did they maybe follow my scent? Probably the prints, or it wouldn't have taken them the whole night to find me. Of course, they still don't know where I'm, but it won't take long to figure it out, at least if they have a bit of brain. Are they like in the stories I got told?

I need to leave without them noticing. But how? I don't have much to work with. So I take a nut out, peel it half open and take a bite out, and then before waiting a moment, I throw it north toward the direction of the mountains. It lands by a tree with a sound, and naturally, the six Goblins notice and move in that direction.

I stopped watching them and started crawling on my branch to the west. I'm lucky because it connects to many other trees, but after around 200 meters, it ends, and I have to get back to the ground. I hope that's enough to put them off my track.

Now I'm down to four nuts, and I only ate half, so I hope I tricked them. The problem is that they won't find anything other than the half-eating nut. I try to jump from root to root, so I don't leave many footprints. Will it help? I don't know.

It took them 3 days to find me again. I'm currently running away from them. The Goblins are not that fast, yet now that they know where I am, they won't lose me again.

It was early morning when they discovered me. That was 4 hours ago, but I can do this all day. My stamina improved significantly in the last few days because I jogged the whole day and walked the night. Pretty sure that's the reason why it took them that long to catch up to me.

I don't worry about these green shits considering they're slow and will get tired sometimes. I have two nuts to eat and drink and try to preserve them. In the afternoon, I got a reasonable distance between us. They don't scream or make any sounds, and I don't see them anymore, but I know they're behind me. Also, I'm sure they don't have weapons unless they hide them.

Another 2 days passed. I stopped running to save energy. I'm moving right next to the mountains to the west. I have had no proviant left since this morning. No Goblins, but I'm sure they're getting closer. "Ah shit. I jinxed it." There they're.

Two days later, they are still behind me. I didn't sleep for 5 nights or 6? I'm not sure. My jogging slowed down to a walk. The little green stalkers are a bit behind me. They got tired, too. Lucky me.

What the fuck do they even want from me? Why don't they talk? I tried to speak to them on the run, but they either didn't understand or didn't care what I had to say. One more night without sleep won't be healthy. I tried to explain it, but they didn't listen. I'm getting furious.

My head feels light, and my thoughts get slower. I-I need a plan, or I will find out what they want soon. I could try to beat them up before I lose all my energy, but there're six of them, and I'm all alone. I don't think I can take them.

It's the next day afternoon, and we're all walking now. Nobody has the stamina left to go faster. My balance is like I'm drunk or high. Sometimes I think I hear waves hitting against cliffs far away, but I don't trust my ears anymore. I hear the tree whisper strange things to me.

It's evening now. I trip a lot, but I'm still moving forward. I don't know where to and what there will be. "Fucking Stalkers. Can you maybe please just not walk behi...." I trip over a root and fall. The Goblins see their opportunity and take it instantly.

They were not far behind me, maybe 15 meters. It was just a stroll through the forest until now. They're on me in a few seconds. Start kicking me, punching me, and laughing. They're small, maybe 1.20 each, but I can feel the pain in every hit. I have to do something.

I kick one of them in the knee, and he takes a few steps back, so I ignore him. I put some distance between me and the others. They gave me the few seconds I needed to get up because they watched the one I kicked. Maybe they didn't expect me to defend myself.

I stand up and turn to run away. "Thump", what was that? The little shit I kicked, just superman punch me in the face! "Damn, this hurts," I shout.

The Goblins point at me and laugh. Now I'm angry. I grab the one who punched me, by the throat and squeeze as hard as possible. He starts to panic, and I raise my right hand and punch him in the face. He screams, but I don't care. I take another swing at him. He tries to dodge, but I still hit him in the eye. He struggles and screams in pain.

I remember his friends and turn around. They just wake up from shock and want to attack me. I throw the screaming one at them, and it knocks three over. The other two are now running at me. I ignore the other four on the ground and focus on the two.

The left one is a bit closer, so I take advantage of that and take 2 steps to the front. One front kick in the face and his nose is gone. He falls on his back. The other one is just behind and runs in rage at me. I fake a kick at his right leg, and as he jumps to dodge, I punch his face.

My hand is covered in blood, my body hurts, and I'm furious. I knocked 2 out, but now the others are moving to me. One of them limps and falls behind. So now it's three versus one. They don't blindly run at me. I can see the rage in their eyes. I don't get intimidated even though they're clenching their teeth until saliva drips down their mouth.

They stand before me, and I realize they are waiting for the fourth one, so not as stupid as I thought. I move to the middle but change at the last second to the left Goblin and kick him in the stomach. He bends to the front and throws up. Ha, nice!

The other two react quickly and throw themself at me. I dodge one but the second rams into me and bites me in my right forearm. I scream, "Aaaargh, what the fuck, you little shit. So we fighting like this?". I take him by the ear and pull. I pull until I feel how his ear tears, and I hold it in my hand. He let loose to scream, and I pull my arm away.

At the time, the third Goblin started punching me in the stomach. As this doesn't do much damage, he clings to my leg and bites too. I scream even louder. I throw the ear to the ground, grab the earless one, and throw him at the limping one, who got too close to my liking. Then I strike out at the one still biting my leg. He won't let me loose, so I strike him again, again and again. Finally, he lets go and falls to the ground. I kick him in the head until I'm sure he won't get up. Ever.

All five are in front of me, creeping slowly closer, and I know this won't end well for me. They run together at me and ram into me. I fall to the ground, and they kick me in the face, in the stomach, and at my wounds. They know how to fight dirty. I can't do anything except keep my face and vital points safe, but it doesn't help. I feel bones crack and the blood running across my face, arms, and legs. I'm losing consciousness. My eyes are shutting close, and the last thing I see is a silhouette coming closer. Ha, what a cliche.
