Pov ???

I have quite the view here, I think to myself, standing at the beach and observing the waves crashing against the cliffs. I have done this a lot since I got here. The sun is high up in the sky; I could go for a hunt.

Every day is the same; if I had known that it would get this boring, I would have changed a few things. Or not. I would be dead if I didn't go here. But it doesn't matter now. What do I want to eat today? Maybe some fish, no, I'm hungry for some birds.

It usually takes me around five hours to get to the forest, two in case I go all out. I get there a little bit before dark and go deeper to get some stronger birds. The stronger they're, the tastier. I jump from branch to branch, keeping an eye open for my meal.

An hour later, I pick up screams a distance away because I have good ears. So I go in that direction, picking up more shouts. There shouldn't be more than two people on this island; the Human boy and me. Even so, he can't be here. Who is there?

I sit in a tree with a good view of the six Goblins and the boy I remember from five years ago. He got older and very skinny, and you can't call him a boy anymore. Also, he's weaker now, as he can't beat his opponents. Goblins, they shouldn't be here. That's very interesting.

In the beginning, it looks like he could take them, but that changes after he kills one of them. In short, if they continue to beat him up like that, he will die. Should I help him? I want to know where these Goblins came from. He must know something.

So I jump down without making a sound. I walk toward him, look him in the eyes, and see that he is losing consciousness. He focuses on me just before his eyes close, and... he smiles? How strange.

The Goblins don't even realize I'm on them before I pick two up and throw them into the air. The three others focus on me an instant later, but I don't give them time to react. I behead one of them, then appear behind the fourth and strike him in the hearth with my hand. The last one starts to turn his eyes in my direction. I turn to him and kick his head off. I'm waiting for the two flying imps as they're on their way down. They land with two clean cuts and their heads rolling in different directions.

Pov Finn

Everything hurts. I slowly open my eyes; as a result, the sun blinds me for an instant. Then I hear a voice. "Still alive?" I try to answer, but all that comes out is a "yaef".

"You should be careful. Your jaw got a few hits." I hear the voice again.
I try to nod, but that hurts too.

Eventually, my eyes focus on a sitting man, around 30 years old. He cooks meat on a small fire. I look at him again and see some things that are not ordinary.

Firstly, his eyes are black, and his iris is purple. Furthermore, his ears are pointy. Does that mean he's an Elf? Goblins and now an Elf. Hah. If there is magic, then... Is there magic?

I sit up very slowly to not hurt myself. I have cracked ribs, two bite wounds, and three broken fingers. Also, I'm covered in blood, mostly mine but not all of it. I look around and see all six Goblins lying on the ground. Four without a head. One with a hole where his heart is supposed to be, and the one I killed.

I turn slowly to the man. "You did this?" I ask him.

He looks at me calmly and responds, "yes. But I'm more interested in why you didn't."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Well, you were stronger the last time I saw you. And how did you come here anyway? I assumed you were dead already."

I stare at him. The last time he saw me and why would I be dead?
"Do you know me? And I came out of that direction." I say and point to the forest where I came from.

"You don't remember me. It has been five years, but still, I'm hurt. Hmm. Say, where did you find the Goblins?" He ignores my question.

I can't remember him because, well, I never met him. I'm just over two weeks in this body, so that's understandable. But I don't think I should tell him about that. So instead, I tell him a small lie, "no, I don't remember. I hit my head fairly hard a few months ago and can't remember anything about the time before. The Goblins actually found me. A week from here. Can you tell me who I am?"

"Hmm", he takes a couple of minutes to think, then says," I don't know who you are, except that your name is Finn, and a ship with a black star and grey mountains as a banner brought you here five years ago. If I'm not mistaken, that is the banner of the Royal family of the Human Kingdom, Insani. So that means that you're either Royalty or pissed someone influential off. I could be wrong, of course. I've been a couple of years on this island, and the world is constantly changing."

I'm on an island, and maybe Royalty? It sounds more like I pissed somebody off. Maybe I fucked someone's daughter. It would be a problem because dads can be scary, even more so when they have power. But being Royalty would be cool, right?

"Finn", saying my name doesn't help me remember anything, "I like my name. Nice to meet you, and thank you for saving my life!" I mean it.

He looks me in the eyes. There is something in there, something powerful that takes my breath away. After a few seconds, he responds, "nice to meet you too, again. My name is Askei. You've changed a lot since last time. I like you more like you're now. You're in a lot of pain. I have something for you that will help lessen it. That's my last bottle, so don't waste it." He pulls out a small vial with a golden liquid and tosses it over. I don't even try to catch it. Thus it lands right in front of my crotch.

I raise the question everybody would have, "what's that? What should I do with that?"

"Drink, of course. How can you not know? It is a healing potion. It should help you." He returns with a smile.

I watch him for a couple of seconds to see some reaction that says it's a joke, but he keeps smiling, so I open the vial and down the potion. It feels warm, creeping down my throat until it hits my stomach. That's when I got a pulse through my body. I feel my bones moving back into their proper place, and my skin grows back together. I scream from the pain until I pass out.

--------------------

I jerk up and fall to the ground. I'm waiting for the pain to start, yet it never does. I look around the room. It appears to be a small cabin. There's a fireplace and a table next to the window in front of me. The door opens, and Askei walks in. "Look who's finally awake", he says while moving to the fireplace.

"Yeah, thanks. This liquid you gave me helped a lot but hurt like shit."
My bones and wounds did heal, and all in all, I feel good. What the hell was that?

"Don't worry about it. I have meat for you. It's the best meat you're going to find on the island. You hungry, right?" He asks.

"YES. I didn't eat for days. How long was I out?" The sun shines into the room. Therefore, he must have carried me to his home while I slept through the night—what a nice guy.

"2 days." He says as he lights the fire.

2 days? That explains why I feel so hungry. I didn't eat for a week. "Where are we anyway? How long until the food is ready? And where did you get the meat from? I didn't spot any animals."

Askei cut the meat into small pieces and then mixed it with roots. As he throws them in a pot with water, he explains, "we're on the Silent Islands. It's named like this because of the silent wildlife. The southern part we're on is called the 'Exile'. I won't need to explain why, but it's exclusive to the Royals' enemies. This shadow pelican should be ready in a couple of minutes. It's hard to spot because it moves through the shadow; they're very sneaky."

The food is almost finished. Yay. As for the exile part. That doesn't worry me too much. Whoever sends me here thinks I'm dead or will die here. It has been 5 years, and even Askei thought I was dead, and he lives next to me.

Who is he anyway? He has a strong presence. Then again, it doesn't matter. Without him, I would be dead. So I owe him big time.
Pretty sure he is a noble, maybe some bastard son. He looks royal with his eyes, black shoulder-length hair, and lean body stature. Who cares? I'm not going to ask, at least not right before my meal is ready.

The food is delicious, the meat is tender, and the roots are almost like potatoes, except spicy. After I finish my third serving, I burp.

"Sorry. Very delicious. I don't know how to ever thank you for saving my life and healing me. I owe you!"

"You shouldn't just promise things like that! Some people take it very seriously." There it's. Every word was said calmly, but it felt like a hit to my chest. Something feels wrong with this world.

I say my following words carefully, "So do I. I owe you my life, and I will pay it back someday. When I know how."

He keeps quiet for a minute before he smiles at me. "Okay. I'll remember your promise. Moreover, why didn't you defeat the Goblins yourself? They were weak, maybe Tier 1 yellow."

"There were six of them! How could I? What do you mean by Tier 1 yellow?" I reply.

"Hmm. I should have done this earlier." He says before I feel a wave wash over me. Then he continues, shocked, "your core is Tier 1 white? How is that possible? You're twenty years old. There should be at least some progress. The first time I saw you, you were at least Tier 2. How? What happened to you?"
