Chapter 2: Chapter 01

A bustle of sounds and laughter was heard through the night city. Food stamps for different kinds of desserts and snacks were everywhere you look as you walk down the streets. Lights shone and strings hang against every building and house.

A one-off time festival that only comes a year was currently held in celebrating the anniversary of the founding kingdom.

"Come and get your only special delicious tarts of different kinds here!"

"Lamb, beef, chicken, you name it! You can roast it with different spices over here!"

"You can make any type of crafts with specially made work like pinwheels!"

Loud shouts of advertisement for their sales could be heard from the sellers behind the stands.

A young woman silently stood watching such a large crowd with excitement. She held her basket on her arm tightly and led herself with a girl she held after her towards the festival.

"Jenny, aren't you excited at what we will find!"

A raven-haired woman looked at the young girl who was silently following her obediently. She raised her head and blinked her big round eyes. She smiled brightly with sparkling eyes and nodded in response.

She softly smiled at her innocent look. She ruffled her long blonde hair with happiness filling her heart.

Her hot pink jewel-like eyes like rubies shone with happiness. She hummed and made sure to hold in securing her small hand.

'After all, we don't want to lose another child...'

She frowned at the disturbing thoughts that have come back to her and slowly walked toward one of the stalls.

"Remi, you have finally come! Go into your position, hurry!" 

A lady who looked like in her late forties hurriedly beckon the woman, Remi, to her side as she busily hand out the crafts she held.

Remi placed the basket full of white and other colors flowers and picked up Janet into her arms. She held tightly towards her neck and buried her head between Remi's neck and shoulder.

"You brought her here again?"

A tall lady who looks to be in her twenties gave them her pressuring aura. She was cutting out the crafts into different shapes. Her hand skillfully held the items in her hands with impressive speed.

Remi couldn't help but admire her skills once again. She quickly snapped from her willful thoughts and timidly looked at her.

"Sorry, sister, if I had to trouble you in some way..."

"...No, it's fine. Just keep an eye on her."

"Thank you, Sister Tiara!"

She expected her to fall for her pitiful appearance. She felt quite bad for fooling her, but bringing some children under her supervision to reduce the burden on the headmaster is my top priority.

She quietly turned around and placed Jennette on top of a chair near her station.

Remi turned back in front of the table and started to do her part by organizing the materials together and giving them an equal amount to each basket laid on the ground.

Janet silently stared at her. She quietly fiddled with her fingers and play with the string attached to her short dress.

Remi held a small laugh that was about to leak from my mouth. She stopped her hands and bend down to meet her eyes. Janet shook in surprise and bowed her head down.

Remi gently placed her hand on top of her bowed head and slightly stroked and let go before she ruin her beautiful hairstyle.

"Can you get me something to eat from brother right over there?"

Janet blinked her eyes at my question. After she pointed to the man who is grilling meat on top of a heated fire next to their stall.

Janet looked at the stall with sparkling eyes and nodded toward her. She gave her a bag that contains coins.

She obediently grabbed it and ran towards the man. Remi turned her head back to the materials that are lying on top of the table waiting to be sewn.

“…Phew.”

Remi wiped the sweat on her forehead. She quietly grabbed the items that were about to tilt towards the corner of the table and placed them at the top.

After a few minutes, she felt a soft tug on her clothes. She looked down and see Janet staring at her with a big smile.

She then brought the roast lamb placed between two sticks and handed the bag containing it to her. She bought ten of them.

“Huh...”

She couldn't help but took a deep breath. She habitable muttered softly...

'She's really having a feast of her own?'

"You used all the coins within the bag?"

"Uhm..."

She shyly nodded her head in embarrassment. Remi couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction.

She softly hummed in understanding and patted the back of her head and placed the bag on top of the other table near them.

After all, getting the materials dirty will make her lose her job...

"Here, I will give you the rest after we go back, alright?"

She stretched her hands that is holding two sets of lamb into her hands. Janet happily grabbed the sticks and gave her thanks.

She gently nodded in response to her thanks and happily thought of how well-raised she has become while taking care of her.

"Remi! Move your hands a bit faster, will ya?!"

At the sudden loud shout, her shoulders trembled at the sharp attitude from her boss.

Tiara also gave her a sharp glare and silently moved her lips in communication.

'You better be working diligently, or I will take her next'

Remi widen her eyes in horror at her threat and gulped down her complaints.

'I guess I better be grateful at the mercy she had given me until now...'

She silently thought that way and bowed her head in obedience. Tiara gave out a satisfying creepy smile and turned back to what she was doing.

Janet quietly ate her stew lamb while silently glaring at the back of Tiara's head. Before anyone could notice, she bowed her head back down and stared at the other uneaten lamb sticks in her hand.
