Suddenly, a sound that struck fear into everyone’s soul (except Long Di) and even sent the Super Donkeys into a frenzy echoed out.

  “Meow!”

  ****

Screams of fear and shouts of panic flooded the streets as the local guards tried their best to keep the peace.

“Lock down the city! Fortify all defences!” The head captain of Thousand Emo Valley commanded.

He was a burly man, wearing a suit of black armour. There were several holes at the back that went down the spine where long bone spurs were protruding out from.

His rank as head commander was displayed on his pauldron, not that anyone questioned his rank. After all, this was a position he held for many years.

He was currently making his way up one of the two mountains that made Thousand Emo Valley, a valley. His goal was nowhere near the top, just to the location where a bastion was built into its side that would allow one to overlook not just the valley, but the plains for miles around.

Another man of rank, a captain, ran up to him and executed a salute before reporting, “Sir, there’s a sole carriage that seems to be making its way towards us! Should we hold the gates until it arrives!?” the captain asked.

“No! We have no time to wait for a single carriage! They have to help themselves! Maybe they can hold that THING off until help arrives!”

Hearing the head captain’s command, the captain sped off to execute it posthaste.

“Speaking of help,” the head captain looked to another soldier that was keeping pace with him as he made his way up. “Has the messenger already been sent to The Nether Immolation War Temple!?”

“Yes Head Captain sir! The messenger was sent the minute we spotted it!” the soldier advised after a quick salute.

“Good! Then all we need to do is stand our ground and pray to the gods that be to spare our souls the unholy hell we will bear witness to today.”

As the head captain arrived and stood atop the walls of their bastion. He could clearly see what struck fear into the hearts of mortal men, and it was a truly haunting thing.

  …

“That’s a cat,” Long Di said, pointing to the sky.

“We know!” Yaomu Shou stared at the falling fur-ball and the city gates that were closing on them. “Those bastards! I know they see us!”

“Can someone help me to see what you’re all seeing?” Long Di asked. The panic that was prevalent on everyone else’s face was absent from his.

“I don’t think I should have to explain this, but that is not just any normal cat. THAT is a Shidashi Mao!” she said with a voice quivering in fear.

“Shidashi Mao?” Long Di repeated the name to himself. “Shidash… True Ca… True Cat? Really!? The name they find for it is True Cat?” Long Di figured out the mechanics behind the name of the species in this world. Weirdly enough, he didn’t see anything about it in the bestiary.

“It’s not a normal cat, you idiot!” Yaomu Shou screamed. “All other cats are watered-down versions of it. This thing is the very embodiment of what a cat really is!”

Suddenly, Long Di had a bad feeling about this. Long Di didn’t feel apprehensive in the beginning because his best friend was a cat in his last life.

However, though Pebbles never gave him any grief, Long Di had to admit that the cats he met when he walked the streets with Pebbles were mostly assholes and inexplicably cruel.

If this being was the epitome of and the perfected extreme of what a cat is, then everyone for miles around was in massive danger!

  Boom!

The furred projectile crashed into the ground a short distance behind the carriage as it made its way to the valley.

A plume of dirt, dust and all manners of items capable of inflicting blunt trauma were ejected into the sky following the collision.

  Shu!

A shadow sprung from the crater. The now falling dust, dirt and everything obscured it from view!

“Long Di do something!” Yaomu Shou shouted.

“What about the old men? Are they not watching over you?” Long Di asked calmly.

“The conditions for that are so strict that everyone here may die and I may be the only one that’s left alive in the end! Do you want to take that risk!?” she was frantic at this point when she saw the telltale signs of this beast coming to act.

She wasn’t wrong. Her protectors weren’t evil, they just had very strict situations wherein they were allowed to act. Only Yaomu Shou could get them to defy that rule, but the method to employ such a deed was a one-use mandate that she would rather not use if she could avoid it.

“Long Di!” Shen Ling’s cry came from inside the carriage.

  Shu!

Suddenly, the air ripped open the second after she spoke, as five red claws came careening towards the carriage, desperate to rip it asunder!

  Shing!

A thunderous eruption of sparks detonated as the bronze saber blocked the claw strike!

The power behind the strike flung Long Di through the backside of the carriage and through the other side!

  Boom!

Long Di crashed into the earth as the carriage went on its way.

“Long Di!” Yaomu Shou paled when she saw that Long Di fell off. “Feng Yu stop the carria-”

‘I’m fine. Don’t stop for me. Head for the valley. And don’t stop till you get there.’ Long Di sent a message to both Yaomu Shou and Feng Yu via spiritual transmission.

They were of no help because the aura emanating from the claw not long ago was equivalent to a Martial Master, the same realm as Long Di.

In other words, this beast was as strong in certain aspects as a Martial Grandmaster!

“Hhiiiissss!!!” A vicious hiss filled the air as it stopped its previous assault and began to square off against Long Di since his aura deemed him the biggest immediate threat.

Since it now slowed its movements, this then allowed spectators both near and far to get a good look at it.

It was a massive thing, easily as tall as a one-story building on all four legs and as long as 28 ft from head to body, so around as long as 6 Long Di’s give or take a head or torso.

It was covered in fur that appeared soft to the touch on a frame that spoke flexibility and versatility. Its powerful legs were armed with blood-red claws that flashed in the sunlight.

Its most striking feature, however, was its face. Good God, people, its face was cute beyond reason.

That’s right, this thing was so cute that it made sense that it was seen as cruel by everyone else. Its cuteness probably sucked whatever morality it had in its entirety.

It currently sported a furious expression that could only be described as moe.

“Do you really want to do this?” Long Di asked.

  Shu!

Before anyone could react, the Shidashi Mao rushed towards Long Di. He could immediately tell that the aspect that was comparable to Martial Grandmaster was its speed.

Its speed was something that Long Di could barely react to, which was the moment that Long Di thought…

‘I really need to get my hands on a movement technique.’

  “Reargh!”

A muffled roar similar to that of a teddy bear sounded out before an open maw appeared before Long Di.

Its sharp teeth were poised to bite down on Long Di’s upper body, ripping his upper torso from the rest of his body!

  Vrrm!

The somatic essence in his body ran in order to the Breaking Mundane Forging Heaven method!

  Bang!

The bronze saber slapped the upper row of teeth whilst his other free hand gripped one tooth in the lower row.

  Bang!

  “Damn, that hurt.”

  Pu Ci!

Blood was drawn as the force from the upper row of teeth caused the broadside of the saber to slap Long Di in the back of his head. Additionally, the momentum of the lower row of teeth couldn’t be stopped by Long Di’s one hand, so not only did the sharpness of the tooth cut through his palm, but several teeth became lodged in his chest!

The only reason he wasn’t bitten in half was because there was a slight reverberative shock caused by the bronze saber when it bit into it.

He quickly remembered that his somatic essence hasn’t been cultivated to the point where it could stand up against the strength of a rank five magical beast.

So whilst the somatic essence was running, he then circulated his spiritual qi as well when, shortly after, his eyes slightly widened as something unexpected happened.

  “Ack!”

He coughed up a mouthful of blood!

  “The hell?”

Confusion dotted his features before a long wet tongue (he’s still partly inside the Shidashi Mao’s mouth) licked him.

“Hngh…” he groaned when he realised that the tongue took with it a layer of skin!

“So it took the sandpaper-like tongue of a cat and just amplified it, okay… fine, that’s fair.” Long Di whispered under his breath. “But what the hell just happened with my somatic essence and spiritual qi?”

Long Di recalled that something similar happened when he was fighting against the Zhendong Beetle and Xiong.

“Circulate dammit,” Long Di grit his teeth and circulated his spiritual qi once more and could feel it finally listening to him.

He first erected a shield of spiritual qi to better his defences before channelling the spiritual qi to every inch of his body.

  Krrrshh!

Lightning crackled around his body and bombarded the mouth of the Shidashi Mao!

  “Reowr!”

It opened its mouth in a yelp before jumping back and looking back at Long Di who was bloodied once more while lightning danced all over him.

“Hiss!” it released another hiss as its hind legs dug into the ground and kicked off.

  Shu!

It disappeared as its speed took it out of Long Di’s visual. Sensing danger approaching very quickly, his spiritual force formed a giant network so he could better track what his eyes could not.

“Behind me!” Long Di delivered a backhand swing where the saber landed squarely on the Shidashi Mao’s head!

The augmentation on the blade caused it to pierce the part of its head without any fur, breaking its skull apart and lodging itself into the beast’s head, bringing it to a grinding halt.

Its aura immediately disappeared and there were no longer signs of life coming from it.

“That’s it?” Long Di’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Everyone made it seem like it was this frightening thing.”

Suddenly, a spiritual transmission made its way to him, ’Now boy! Run away!’
