"You knew that thing was in here," Dorian had never been livider. They had spared the vampire. Severed his connection to the dungeon. And he had repaid them with tricks?
"I might have, I might not have. I have this ability called treasure sense. I can sense gold and other valuables. Never, not even once, have I ever been down here," Norrix informed him as he massaged his nose. The tank could punch, but Norrix had worse.
"And you decided to keep that to yourself?" Valerie hissed. They had taken the vampire as a guide because they thought that he knew the layout of the dungeon.
"I want to see the dungeon core bashed into a wall. I am going to go around without being able to use my mana, from now on. You can't deny me the satisfaction," they all grew silent at that. Norrix was crippled, for all intents and purposes. There was no denying that.
"Dorian, don't attack him again," Leander commanded, eyes narrowed. "Norrix is also getting a protection deal with the guild."
"Why is he getting one?" Valerie snapped. She had nothing against them letting the now harmless vampire walk free, but, why should they take him back to Huergaz?
"Because he needs one," Leander trusted Norrix. He had no idea why, but he trusted him. The vampire barked a laugh.
"Well, your guild master has spoken. So, let us see what is in the chest, shall we?" Norrix walked to the chest and opened it without a care for traps. Then, he pulled out a leather armor from it.
"What? That is all?" Morris blinked, shouldn't there be something more with a mini-boss guarding it?
Norrix turned it around in his hands. Then, he saw it: a rune pattern in the inside of the armor. Fire, ice, iron clad, and some protections he did not recognize. But there was one rune that caught his eyes. Refitting rune.
"Hey, guild master, this will be a perfect fit for you," Norrix waved the armor, and Leander sighed.
"I won't fit in it," Leander blushed at his admission. Clothes were still an embarrassing subject for him. But he vowed that it would change, someday.
"Sure, you will. There is a refitting rune on it. Come on, come over here," Morris's hand landed on Leander's shoulder, but the healer moved away from him and towards the vampire.
Platoon 23 watched as their guild master put on the armor, and it stretched to fit him.
"I don't like this," Jean spoke. "It is almost like lemon cake is bewitched."
"He might be," Valerie agreed. They all turned to her. "I mean, vampire saliva has compulsions to it. A chemical cocktail that can work without mana. Like a drug."
"Then why did you let Leander allow Norrix to drink from him?" Dorian snapped. He hadn't known that, if he had, he would have stopped Leander.
"I thought that the vampire was too weak to actually bewitch Leander. He looked starved," Valerie defended herself. Morris rubbed his temples.

"This is a right mess," the ginger spoke. "And we have to get him out of it."
"He won't let us kill the vampire," Alklair spoke. The Budding Lilies had been silent up to that point, but their eyes widened at that.
"Norrix was a slave. Surely, he didn't bewitch Leander purposefully," Lilia spoke. She looked at the vampire who was patting Leander on the back as the healer was patting the armor. Searching for imperfections.
"Yes, just because Norrix is different, we can't decide to kill him. We are not murderers," Alberta agreed. Honestly, the boys, she could understand wanting such a thing. Alklair too, to an extent, for he was battle hardened and knew when to cut his losses. But Valerie was a surprise.
"I say we let guild master lemon cake decide what to do with the treasure sensing vampire. I mean, he already made Norrix harmless by cutting off his mana," Florifel gave her input.
They might have argued more, but Leander and Norrix came back. Both grinning.
"The armor is great. I can feel the mana ooze from the runes," Leander commented. Then, he looked uncertain. "Can I keep it? Or, do I put it towards the combined treasure count?"
"Keep it," Alklair said without even thinking. "As a guild master, you don't get paid. Apart from the occasional piece of treasure that the adventurers give you."
"But, I still get paid for quests?" Leander had received money from Soed. Was he not supposed to?
"I meant; you don't get paid for taking the position. You still get paid for the quests you go on to," Leander breathed a bit easier after that. He did not want to rely on his lovers for money. If he did, he'd make Baleg the guild master and go back to being a full-time adventurer.
"Wait, how did you survive for five hundred years if you did the job without a salary?" Jean asked, not understanding Alklair in the slightest.
"Well, I still went to SS ranked quests, from time to time. That was in the first 200 years. Then, my investments paid off. But, that is all gone now," at Alklair's words, Leander shifted uncomfortably in his boots.
"I am sorry and could return you your money, if you'd like?" The blonde healer offered. He had not spend even a single coin from the dragon hoard that Alklair had accumulated over the years.
"Full bellies don't plow fields," Alklair repeated his favorite words. Something he had told himself often, when he felt too lazy to do his job as a guild master. "I'd rather start hoarding anew. Maybe I will even become SSS rank. Like Asmodeos."
"But, you can put the money towards the guild, if you don't have a use for them," Valerie suggested. "The guild house has not been extended in the past 156 years."
"I'll make sure I do. If we get a bigger training hall, we might get more recruits," Leander mused. Then, he turned to Norrix. "Lead the way."
The vampire turned and led them down the hall, where a big iron gate waited for them.
