“2. New Personality; Demon-possession means that a new personality is introduced to that person - the victim becomes a different person. The Gadarene demoniac acted and spoke as one who was controlled by another personality.” Landon noted.

Dearil sat in the chair reading the paper observing Landon pacing back and forth.

“It makes sense,” Landon murmured. He paused and looked over at Dearil. “Can I ask you something?

Dearil nodded with the paper still in hand. His eyes had never left the page.

“You know we should be leaving town right?,” Dearil said.

Landon walked over and grabbed it from him. He opened it up, his gaze scanning the article again before turning his attention back to Dearil.

"Wait...there was a murder on the front page..." Landon replied.

Dearil watched curiously as Landon flipped through more articles until finally finding what he wanted. The story of the man's death.

"Well," Landon breathed out, “That kid...he is the one Knox was bullying in class!"

"The victim was your classmate?" Dearil inquired.

Landon closed his eyes tightly trying not to think about it.

"No one even messaged me?"

Landon scanned through his phone to see if anyone had sent him anything but came up empty. He sighed and placed his phone down. Swiping it back up he called Knox, but he wouldn't pick up the second time. The third time, and fourth time too. When the voicemail beeped he hung up quickly knowing that he wasn’t planning on answering.

"Something is wrong, Dearil...we will leave once it's all sorted." Landon replied.

“Fine. I am speed dial if you need me…” Dearil sighed.

“Where is Ambrose?” Landon asked.

Dearil shrugged. With that, he went outside. The sun was beginning to set, leaving only a few streaks of pink and orange. The sky was beautiful and Landon felt calm, as if everything was okay. Once outside Landon looked around making sure he was alone.

*******

Knox had just walked into a club pushing his hair back and out of his face. The music pounded against him, drowning out nearly every other sound around him. As soon as his feet hit the dancefloor he pushed through, desperate for relief from being stuck inside all day.

The bartender looked at him with wide eyes. He'd been waiting all day after all.

He motioned toward Knox to come closer but Knox just stared at him instead and continued pushing toward the bar. The bartender turned back towards the bar and saw someone approaching him and stopped to let them pass. He looked up in surprise as Knox approached him.

"Oh, hey!" the bartender exclaimed with a nervous smile. Knox smiled back, waving politely before continuing to push toward the bar.

"I was told you would finally allow me to meet your boss...I did my end." Knox muttered.

"Yes, well..." The bartender trailed off not quite sure how to continue the sentence.

Knox leaned forward to hear him better. "Did he say yes?"

"I didn't see him! But, he should be here soon! Just make yourself comfortable!" The bartender said hastily.

Waiting over an hour before he was finally allowed to speak with the boss, who Knox was informed by the bartender was actually named Jack. Knox was led upstairs to Jack's office and seated across from his desk. Jack was an older man with gray hair and blue eyes.

Jack leaned back into his chair. "So, Knox right?"

"Yes sir?." Knox replied.

"Nice name. You can call me Jack."

"Okay then, hey Jack?"

"You're new here aren't you? What are you doing in this area? You don't really look like an aspiring musician." Jack chuckled softly.

"Cut the crap, Jack. I want in." Knox muttered.

Jack raised his eyebrow. "Why should I give you a chance if you want to try your luck? I know you're just trying to get into my good graces by pretending." Jack stated flatly.

"I have nothing to pretend about...I need your help, money and resources." Knox responded. "And I know that if I can prove myself, then I can take care of myself without needing anyone else's help...you might not like that."

Jack took a sip of water from his glass. "You seem like you have a little bit of experience running errands for me, so let me test you a little more."

The boss reached for his phone and dialed. After a few rings, the voice on the other end answered.

"Hello Mr. Hatter, we just have a little problem."

Knox listened silently, taking mental notes along the way.

"There was an accident tonight. Someone tried to rob us, and got away before we could catch him. We need to find him." Jack explained.

The silence was deafening for Knox who began drumming his fingers against the table and fidgeting restlessly.

"Alright," Jack said, "Just bring me the address." With that, he ended the call. "Let's get ready to go Knox."

"I should give you a piece of my mind! And Knox too!" A voice shouted.

Landon stood there awkwardly as his female friend shouted. She was currently glaring at him, hands on her hips and an angry expression on her face.

"Look...I am gonna be leaving, but not yet...there is something wrong with Knox." Landon noted.

"What happened to Knox? She asked.

"I dunno he beat a kid up and left school," Landon noted.

“Keep me updated about Knox okay?”

"I am really sorry about this Sae."

"It happens one kid always has a rebellious side and can't bring themselves to admit when they are wrong," Sae explained.

"I guess so..." Landon shrugged.

He turned around and walked to his car. He had to head home to check in on his family and then get some rest before school.

“Bye Sae, I really gotta go!” Landon shouted.

“Bye! Take care!” Sae waved.

Sae sat on the bench resting her eyes under the soft glow of the streetlamp's light shining down onto them. The sky was darkening with a few stars showing up through the cloud cover. Her hair flowed down the way it usually did. She closed her eyes allowing herself to relax. It was nice sitting here watching the world go by.

A familiar blue-haired man stepped out of the shadows behind Sae. He leaned against the wall beside Sae and crossed his arms.

He noticed her breathing slow down and heard her heart beat more steadily. He smiled slightly to himself thinking to himself how beautiful she was when she was relaxed like that.

The man walked over to Sae smiling. She moved over to allow him to sit down. He settled into the empty space next to her, but she stayed silent next to the stranger. Her body was tense, as if ready for a fight.

The stranger shifted slightly looking at Sae. She still didn’t look at him. "Are you okay?" He whispered.

Sae nodded slightly, still not looking at him. She took a deep breath trying to relax her muscles from their tensed position. “I should go now!” Sae mumbled.

"Not until you answer me," The stranger said sternly.

Sae glanced at him briefly then looked away again. "I don't even know you!" She shouted. "And I would like to be left alone!"

"Why are you upset?" He inquired.

"I just think that you should go back to whatever you were doing," Sae growled crossing her arms.

The man sighed lightly and pulled out his phone. He opened it up flipping the pages until he found a specific page.

“I know your friend…” He pointed.

Sae stared at him blankly waiting for him to continue speaking.

"Knox is your best friend, right?"

Sae gave him a half smile. "Yes. He is..."

"Will come with me to check on him?" He asked.

"Did something happen to Knox?" Sae questioned curiously.

"Well, he was hurt real bad and had to be wheeled out and sent us to find you. since he is regrettin his way, Ma'am,"

"Understood, I will come with you right now!" She shouted.

Sae jumped off the bench and began walking toward the boy who followed behind her. A black van slowly pulled as soon as the man waved.

The sliding door pulled open and the men jumped out grabbing the woman's wrists pulling her back towards them. Sae yelped in surprise but didn't try fighting her captors. She glared at the boys but didn't say anything. Her jaw clenched in annoyance while her eyes narrowed.

The two men led her away and she glared at the backs of their heads. They clutched her hands back taking duct tape from another man with them.

They taped her mouth shut and wrapped a cloth around her face. They dragged her into the van and placed a bag over her head. One of them climbed into the driver seat and the other got into the passenger seat.
