Coy dodged several strikes and finally managed to catch the boy off guard causing him to fall to the floor. Coy grabbed Shay by his collar pulling him off of the creature. A scream erupted from Shays throat as his neck was snapped. He fell to the ground motionless. Blood slowly pooled underneath him. He didn't move anymore.
The gargoyle boy stared at the lifeless body of the boy with no emotion at all. He dropped the limp boy. Without thinking, he ran towards voilently covered in black blood.
The teacher laughed at the sight of a terrified teenager trying to hide his tears behind his fists. The man reached down with a bloody finger and wiped away a small drop of blood dripping from his nose.
"That is what happens when you disappoint me. You get punished for being late. Your lesson ends here today, Lance!” Mr. Jameson laughed.
Looking at the maddness twisted on Coys face, he wondered what he was going to do.
The teacher stepped closer to him. "I'm not going to kill you for your failure. But you can understand why I don't wish for you to participate in the upcoming games. Your lack of skill will cause you to get hurt badly so many times you will end up dead."
Lance didn't know how to respond . He could see how broken the man looked. He wanted to say some kind of comfort but all the words died in his mouth.
"If I don't think I should take a chance, then neither should you. You have five minutes left before I will decide you are no longer worth taking the risk on. Looks like Coy really wants to live…”
[I am doing it, Lance]
Coy's rage became worse hearing Mr. Jameson talk. Stomping over to Lance throw his fists against the wall, his face was red with anger. A vein throbbed in his forehead and he clenched his hands into fists. He wanted to hurt someone, to get his feelings out of control. He took a deep breath as he calmed down. His eyes met Lance's. They were soft and full of understanding.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" Coy roared. Lance jumped back surprised by his words. His mouth fell open in shock as he looked around for anyone else to help him. He felt bad when he saw that everyone else had left him to face this on his own.
[There is no peace in this new world you are bestowed]
“No, Coy the enemy is those pit us!” Lance shouted, “He has been trying to do all sorts of evil things since I got here. He needs to be stopped, but he won’t stop! Why don’t we just kill him?”
Coy could not listen to reason. There was nothing Lance could say as he smashed the ground beneath Lance. He watched Lance fall to the mud and grass below him and then he heard him cry out. His chest was tight as he felt an overwhelming feeling of guilt. He hadn't meant to hurt him, yet he picked Lance from the ground and threw him against the wall again. He tried so hard to ignore it.

Lance's became limp in Coy grip. He dropped his head back and stared up at the sky, watching the clouds roll past. Lance's tears began to dry before he even noticed they were there. He sighed sadly as blood formed a sword in his hands, blood dripping onto the floor. He pressed the tip of the blade against his skin.
He watched the bright crimson color seep into the fabric of his shirt. He closed his eyes tightly as his heart raced faster and faster. This wasn't right, he should have felt something. Instead, nothing came.
He slashed at the gargoyle boy , cutting through his torso. He watched his body bleed until it stopped Suddenly, Coy felt like it wasn't enough anymore. He needed more. He ripped off a chunk of flesh in his hand. It dripped down and mixed with the rest. He held the chunk over Lance's head and watched as blood pooled.
The amount was staggering but Lance continued to slice at the boy. He laughed as his blood stained his face red. Blood trickled down the sides of his neck to cover the cut on his chest, he smiled as his body was soaked. His hands started shaking.
Lance knew that he could not keep going for long. Coy was dying. His breathing was shallow as his wounds healed quicker than normal. Coy wiped his nose with his arm as his blood splattered across the ground. It was then that he realized how much pain he was in. His knees buckled as he sat against the wall. He couldn't move. Everything was hurting. He felt dizzy, his vision blurred.
"I am sorry..." Lance spouted. Tears fell down his cheeks and mixed with Coy's blood. Coy coughed, struggling to breathe.
"Please... Please, you have to end it."
Lance took his weapon and ended Coy's life without being asked too. As he watched the blood drip from his hand, Lance sobbed uncontrollably. The moment his blade broke through the boy's skin, the blood receded into Lance's hand . His body convulsed as pain wracked through his body. He collapsed to his knees, falling forward as his legs gave out. He fell to the dirt floor.
As Coy laid there, unable to catch his breath, he heard footsteps behind him. He slowly turned his gaze towards the noise.
[Congrats you are now level 2]
Mr. Jameson came up from behind Coy to finish the job jabbing his sword cane into the boy ending him. The sound of metal pierced the air, echoing off the stone walls. Coy coughed again, blood streaming down his face as he lay on the ground silently accepting his death.
With each cough, the sound of metal tearing through bone echoed off the walls, echoing louder and louder.
"Congrats Lance!" Mr. Jameson shouted happily. "You saved yourself after all! Well done!" He grinned as he reached down and helped Lance stand up. He grabbed his shoulders and pushed him forward. "Come on, Lance, let's go."
Lance was numb gawking at the bodies around him. Their eyes were wide open staring at the sky above. He stood rooted to the spot. His mind was blank except for the one thought screaming in his mind. Why?
Why did they need to die? What was their crime? Why did Coy want them dead so badly? All Lance wanted to do was run away, he couldn' t believe he killed them, Shay…Letty…Why?
Why did Coy want him to die? Why couldn’t he have to save people like heroes? Why was this happening to him? How could they not see that he had tried to change?
How could he have not been better? Why? Why?! Why? WHY?! WHY?! Why?! WHY?! WHY?! WHY?? Why??? Why?? WHY?? Why!?
Lance could feel his chest tighten as his throat grew tighter. Suddenly, everything was darkening, but he kept himself upright. They were all just ten years old and now they were staying ten . It made them feel small. Small and powerless.
A voice in his head whispered, ‘Yes, you can. But do not forget why you are here. You can do nothing about it. No matter how hard you try; your destiny will always be to die.'
