“This is your haul of the day? Looks great,” the fisherman looked at the buckets full of fishes, looking at the girl with long brown hair, wearing a brown top and skirt, “I’ll pay the usual, minus the rent of the boat.”

“Ok,” Masaki took the bag full of coins from him with shimmering eyes. It was the same weight as usual, and she happily walked back towards her house. She had been in this area for a month. She was in this world and she was trapped. There was a town, four villages and a portion of the sea. She could move around in that area. Even when that binding disappeared. She decided to stay here a while longer.

At first, she was staying at the town, but then she realised she could use her Quincy Powers to make a massive net, and fish, and earn easy money. Enough to pay for all the books that she was having imported. She was curious about this world. In the town, she read most of the books. The place she was at was at the corner of the Kingdom called Swadhaniya.

The culture here was different. Everyone here had a profession. Even children. Not only that, there were temples all over the place, in every village, made by the Princess of Swadhaniya. It was said that if you pray hard enough, earnestly enough, she would restore you to the point when you were a kid, and you can start with on a new passion and talent points would help you regrow.

It was that power that made it strongest among the Seven Powers, and her the strongest among the Seven Sages. Over her time here, she wondered how it worked, and so every time she mastered a bit more of her power, she went to the temple to get some kind of guidance, but it always ended the same.

Today, too, she saw nothing. Or meet the famous…worshipped Princess. She went home, got the groceries on the way. She read the book on her next destination, Xphargos. It seemed like a fascinating place, even the title of the book – The Growing X Mark seemed fascinating to her.

It used to be a small island with a single village when the Pirate King took it over. His ship broke down, and most of his crew drifted to this Island. They slaughtered the villagers, and put the Sea Goddess’s treasure inside, creating the Dungeon. Over the years, after Pirate King’s reign, and during it, the Island started growing.

Over time, stronger mana concentration formed on this growing Island, and stronger Mana Beasts started to appear. More Mana beasts meant more resources. Some theorised that the Island swallowed the mana of those who died. And more people that died on it, made is grow faster. The Kingdom’s…the Rulers of that time decided to test this theory. When the war was about to break out, they used this Island as the battlefield.

It turned out to be true. The Island grew like never before. And then their greed went out of control. Human lives, animal and monster sacrifices, even the genocides of monster types, animals, that became their goal. The war continued for 5 years, draining the resources of the Kingdom.

At the end of the war, Three of the Four Kingdoms who took part in this war fell. In place of the three rose Swadhaniya, through alliance. The nation that kept Paladenia in check.

And one of the generals of Paladenia branched off, feeling betrayed. Unlike the Three Kingdoms that fell, Paladenia brushed off the responsibility and removed the Leader in charge. Hence, calming the people before a revolution could take place.

This General brought the families of his fallen men and women, and established a city on the Xphargos Island. They named it, and they wished for it to be known with that name. But Paladenia’s reach wasn’t something they could oppose.

Since the General chose a name that would throw dirt at Paladenia, supposedly by making the people feel guilt, the Kingdom chose to suppress it.

Swadhaniya was too busy recreating their own influence, and stop Paladenia from taking their people, and keeping the people they had that they couldn’t use this opportunity to bring Paladenia down a peg or two.

At the end of the day, the name remained to be Xphargos, and Paladenia’s reach could be seen even now, seeing as to how the name had been erased from History. No one knew what the General at that time chose the name to be.

Though Paladenia tried to stop it, the resources that caused the war made Xphargos grow. The next time they were going to launch a war, they had to content with Swadhaniya, which, with its practice and new culture had become a powerful nation in its own right.

They had to back off, and then about 150 Years ago, when they launched another war with Xphargos, another nation rose. Or rather, Evil Queen rose to power and along with her rose her nation, Camelot. Xphargos and Camelot both decided to come together and managed to take a chunk of Paladenia.

Swadhaniya wasn’t happy with Xphargos’s idea of siding with Camelot and they took back their support, becoming the neutral party.

Their neutrality led to Paladenia going quiet, and then the calm period began. Since then, over 125 years passed, and The Princess of Swadhaniya was born. Then 143 after…the City Lord of Xphargos abruptly died. There was chaos in this nation, and before Paladenia or Camelot could pounce on it. Rather, they did. When the Witch came into power.

First, Swadhaniya’s Princess was reforming her country, and then the Witch rising to power was a bad sign. Luckily for Paladenia, the Prince also rose to power at that time. The Four Nations had found their balance.

Though, some would say, the four nations had four monsters, and the strength of the nation depended on these Monsters, ‘interesting.’

Masaki submerged further in the bath, relaxing, closing her eyes when she felt the water turning cold. She opened her brown eyes, looking at the water that was freezing, and she jumped out of it, ‘what is this?’

She took out her clothes from the system inventory, tapping on them and they appeared on her body while she looked for soul ribbons, the sign of souls in all directions. Most of them were frozen and the last of them starting to freeze. She looked at the soul ribbon with most power, one with a devilish tint of blood and ice, and fired an arrow in that direction.

Her arrows destroyed most of the house, avoiding the other soul ribbons, they passed through the town and the thousand blue arrows made of solidified mana struck the woman with long blue hair. The arrows blasted and froze the next moment. The ice flakes dropped all around her and she held her white hat, looking at the sky, “there you are.”

Masaki darted her eyes around the village, and everyone outside their house was frozen. Some had their bodies broken, the others were losing their life. She took a deep breath, fixing her gaze on the woman in white apparel with long sleeves with buttons on the upper arms, a blue scarf on her neck, and high-heeled boots, “Why?”

“Why what?” The blue-haired woman with a tattoo on her chest asked.

“Why hurt them?!”

“Hm,” She looked around the village, “Oh, them. I was only inviting whichever one of you lived here. They…were just too weak.”

“Yeah,” Masaki narrowed her eyes, “I rarely dislike people…you…I don’t think I can like.”

‘System, put point in Absorption. Level it to S-Grade.’

A pop-up appeared in front of Masaki, along with the innate knowledge of her new abilities, and she raised the bow, firing the arrows. These arrows fell all over the village, absorbing the ice without hurting a single person. The arrows didn’t blast, but Esdeath took this chance to leap in the air, and kick Masaki, but when her kick touched Masaki’s cheek, all the force behind it disappeared.

Esdeath stared into Masaki’s eyes, who stared back at her, “you shouldn’t have hurt them.”

The arrows that absorbed power of ice dissipated, but the mana didn’t. It deformed into a spear in Masaki’s hand, and a bloodthirsty grin appeared on Esdeath’s face. She backed away, laughing, “Now that is more like it! You are the one who I was looking for! Come! Masaki Kurosaki!”

Masaki was about to throw the spear forward when a thought crossed her mind. She stopped in the middle of her action, looking back at the woman in front of her, then at the frozen village and people, only to hear a sweet and sexy voice, “You went too far. Esdeath. You shouldn’t have said her name.”

Masaki abruptly sat up, realising she was still in the bath. She jerked her head around, fluttering her eyes. After all, she was in her bath but her bathtub wasn’t in her house, “Where am I?!”

“Welcome to My Palace. Masaki.”
