Unknown Pov

I often found myself alone. Even among a plethora of other deities, I found no place among them.

As a goddess of Nature I was often… misunderstood. I ensured that humanity found a good harvest, yet at other times my rivers and oceans washed the harvest away. I both grew the woods and forests of the land, and saw them set ablaze.

My existence was balance, a weight on both sides of the scale of Chaos and Order. Yet others turned a blind eye to the good, and called out with rage at the bad. They called me a god of atrocity. A god of calamity.

My existence as a goddess of nature was forgotten, and the children of nature, the human beings I had loved turned their backs on me. Humanity raised up a hero. A hero who wielded a holy blade and had the potential to one day become a god.

I watched in fury as this “hero” slaughtered the many races that lived in harmony with nature. In my anger I called out to him; challenging his actions. He responded in misguided violence. We fought for years, neither of us able to hold the upper hand for long.

I was tiring however. My power was great, but my stamina wasn’t endless. The hero however could draw energy out of his blade whenever he would tire. Thus I grew weary and unable to hold back his blows.

He sealed me away within the blade he had wielded for so many years, and plunged the blade into a block of Celestial Auram. He then engraved the stone with runes rebuking the name of Nature, ensuring that I would never escape from this place.

For many years I held out hope. Perhaps someone remembered me? Maybe someone would come along and set me free? Even if it were just a random traveler who only saw a sword set in a stone. However as the years went by my soul began to rot.

My power had long since disappeared, and my mind began to wither away alongside it. In an attempt to keep my sanity for at least a while longer, I turned my eyes to humanity.

Many years had passed, and nothing was quite as it once was. I watched their everyday lives to draw my attention away from my quickly withering mind. Suddenly I felt an odd pull, as if something had been yanked out of my already fractured soul.

I searched for the source for a moment, and found something I did not expect. A small girl. Despite the fact that I was not physically present, she seemed to smile my way regardless. The girls soul was brighter than any I had seen before.

As I watched her grow my sorrow and loneliness began to fade away. I was beginning to fully disappear. I shed a small tear as I knew that I would not be able to watch this girl grow. I had begun to see her as my own daughter, and I longed to see her sprout into a beautiful rose.

But I wouldn't see that day come. However, I was granted one last chance. The girl began a summoning, and I knew If my timing was incorrect I would never get another chance before I was gone.

Converting the last of my soul into celestial energy, I placed that energy within a small crystal that had sat near the stone I was sealed in. I opened up a gate to that girl, picked up the crystal which now pulsed with life, and passed it through the gate.

I placed the crystal in the girls hands and gave my final breath. That small wisp of life followed the crystal through the portal and imbued the crystal with a beating heart of life. My life.

With my last breath I had ensured that I would be reborn again in that girls care. I might never become a goddess of nature again, but that didn’t matter to me. I would rest in my daughters arms… and that. Was all… I wanted.
