[James' POV]

I was on my way to the Sari-sari store to buy my favorite biscuit, Crackies.

“I wonder if auntie still has those crackies?”

I hummed till I reached the store, but someone with long hair was there, buying something.

“Thank you,” the girl said.

“You're welcome.”

The girl turned around and I saw her eating crackies.

“Hm?” the girl saw me and waved at me.

I flinched and hung my head low, avoiding eye contact. At that moment, the girl giggled before walking past me.

“Who is sh-”

*Ring! Ring! Ring!*

I gasped along with my eyes wide open. Shocked by the alarm that I planted on my phone last night. I simply turned it off and wondered, “What am I dreaming again?”

The lucid dream I had were vague.

In any case, it wasn't that important as I got off the bed to do some light stretches. Thus, I left the room, heading toward the kitchen to make coffee.

“Did Trisha accept my stupid bet last night?”

Remembering that triggered my body to rush upstairs to retrieve my phone from the bed.

I took a deep breath and turned it on. Yet, there was nothing. “Huh?”

There wasn't a message because I didn't turn on the wifi button, silly me. There, a single message appeared after the wifi signal appeared.

“Let's do it,” repeating Trisha's reply. “I didn't expect she'd accept that. I guess she wanted to win so badly, huh?”

The reason why I made that Bet was to keep our friendship from falling apart. I mean, Trisha was the only friend I had ever since I moved here. And I'm glad I met her.

A few minutes later, preparation for school was now complete.

“Be careful on your way to school, James!” my mom warned me, and I nodded.

As I continued to walk on the long street, I met Trisha.

She yawned. “Morning...”

“You look wrecked.”

“So?”

“Nothing."

Considering the situation right now, Trisha looked- Serious. Usually, she always smiles whenever we're together. Was she frustrated because of me? Even though she was in a good mood after she calmed down last night.

“Hey, what happens if you like someone before a year has passed?”

“You lose, obviously.”

“But what if I liked someone other than you? Does that count as a loss too?”

“Yes.”

“Oh...”

“Did the bet I come up with sound stupid?” I inquired.

“A little.”

“Haha... So... Got any plans to convince me?”

“I have.”

“How many?”

“That's a secret,” she smirked.

My heart softened after seeing her usual smile. “I guess the coffee earlier made me worried too much.”

Suddenly, a soft cushion came across my right hand.

“Embarrassed?” she asked confidently, holding my hand.

“So that's her plan, huh?”

I shook my head calmly and grinned back, removing her confidence.

Her face boiled up and let go.

“F-first one to reach the gate wins the bet!” she took off a head start.

“HEY!!”

In the end, she lost. Perhaps bad luck came right after she cheated.

[Trisha's POV]

Both of us were able to make it to school. Plus, we have one more hour before our English lesson starts.

“James! Check this new Master skin I got!” Clark called James.

“Eh? I don't believe ya, let me see.”  he left.

I only stared at him for a second, but, I took a seat instead.

“How's the confession?” Lylia asked as she sat beside me.

“It didn't go well.”

“Ouch, at least you're one of us now.”

“You're not helping.”

“I know.”

Shortly, she left to hang out with the others. I, on the other hand, brought out my books and pen, preparing them after this free time we're having.

“Is this even worth it?”

I questioned myself till I heard someone chatting.

“You're going on a date with your boyfriend tonight? I'm so jealous!” my other classmate said.

“Shh!” warned the girl who was going on a date later.

Maybe this could work...

“Okay, class. You may take your recess,” the teacher said. “The ones who'll buy in the canteen, please fall in line in the hallway.”

Only a few of my classmates fall in line, and the rest took out their lunch boxes. Including me and James.

At this kind of time, I usually invite James to eat together. But, I was flushed. Due to the scene, I did last night. I shook my head and decided to eat right away.

“Hey, is this seat taken?”

“Hm?”

Oh, it was Henry. I was hoping James was the one who asked.

I answered, “Nope, you can have it.”

“Thanks!” he sat on the chair.

“What brings you here? It's rare to see you changing seats.”

“Those guys.” he pointed his thumb behind the back, and I turned my head, only to see a girl sitting on his chair while chatting with her friends.

Henry was the type of guy who likes being alone. Even though he looked handsome.

“Maybe she likes you.”

“I doubt.”

“Hmm, but why here?”

“Because this is close,” he replied. “Also, I don't want to get far away from my chair. Sir. Chris might come in before I could go back.”

I sighed and nodded. “Yeah, Sir. Chris sure is scary and serious when he's teaching Science.”

“I know.”

“Henry, it's rare to see you changing seats.”

Both me and Henry turned our heads to the left, noticing James holding his water bottle.

“What's up?” James asked, then drank his water bottle.

“Them.” Henry pointed at the girls.

“I see.”

“Are you sitting here, James?” Henry asked.

“Ah, no. I'm just here to say something to Trisha.”

I left my butt on the chair, facing James.. “What is it?”

“You didn't ask me to eat together, so here.”

He took out a chocolate bar from his pocket.

“What's this for?”

“An apology for last night.”

“You're apologizing even though you already apologized on Textende-”

“Just take it.”

I simply grabbed his apology gift. “Thanks... I guess.”

James exhaled with relief. “I feel refreshed now,” he stated before turning around. “That's all, se-”

“I have a favor to ask.” I interrupted as Henry left the chair.

“And that is?”

I inhaled and exhaled and moved close to whisper, “Tonight, let's go to the mall.”

Based on his reaction, he looked surprised, and my lips sneered at the thought of feeling victorious.

“S-so?”

“Yeah, I'll come.” he answered and I was happy to hear that, though, that was seconds ago because he added, “My friends and I were planning to go later. You should invite your friends too.”

“Uhm, yeah. Sure. The more the merrier...”

“Great! I'll tell the others!” and so, he rushed to his friend while I let a low growl under my breath.

“Great...”
