[Trisha's POV]

Here, in my room, standing in front of the mirror. Dressed in a casual navy blouse and jeans.

“I hope he likes it...” the thought of impressing James got me anxious. But, I shook my head and confidently stared at the mirror. “I'm one hundred percent sure, he'll like it!”

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

“Trisha!” my mom shouted from the first floor. “Are you done?”

“Yeah, yeah. I'll be there!”

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and left the room.

“Trisha!”

“Coming!”

I rushed down as the planks of the stair were making loud thuds with each step. I almost missed my step though.

“I didn't know the two of you were dating.”

“We're not,” I replied, tying up my curly hair. After that, I asked mom, “How do I look?”

She squinted her eyes, observing me till she answered, “You should let your hair down. Since boys love them~”

“We're not dating!” I exclaimed, untying my ponytail without noticing it. “I better go now. Bye!” I grabbed the door handle-

“Don't get late.”

“I won't.” and opened it, then closed it.

Outside. James was standing on the other side of the gate. My heart started to beat faster, and my lips forced themselves to smile.

“Oh, you're done.”

“Yep.” I closed the gate and leaned close to him with a grin. “Notice anything different?

“Your hair. What else?”

“Cute right?”

“Yeah. It suits you.”

“Thank you.”

“But, I prefer your ponytail more.”

“Why? Don't you like this style?”

“I like it, but looking at you in a ponytail makes you more attractive,” he said and my chest began to race.

“Why did he suddenly become aggressive?!”

“Shall we get g-”

“Wait here!”

I ran back inside my house and took me two minutes to return to my spot.

“Let's go!”

He chuckled and agreed.

In conclusion, I wore my hair tie.

At the mall, we finally arrived.

“Thanks for inviting us, Frank.” Lylia heavily tapped Frank's back two times.

“Y-you're welcome...” Frank groaned in pain.

“So, what's the plan?” Danica asked.

“We're going to participate in the Scavenger contest,” Ken announced. “But, since you guys are here too. We'll let you girls have the fun first.”

“Well, aren't you a gentleman~” Lylia hung her right arm around Ken's neck.

Ken stuttered, “T-thanks.”

“What's your plan by the way?” James asked us.

“Shopping,” Lylia answered and the boys looked bewildered. “But, meh. Doing that right now might waste our time. So, you guys sign up for the contest first.”

And their faces brightened up.

“We're saved!” Ken whispered to Frank.

I could hear them though...

Soon, the six of us stepped foot inside the mall. The air conditioner greeted us with cold chills, and my body shivered for a moment.

“Okay, while you three are signing up. We'll go shopping first.” Lylia suggested.

“I thought that plan was for the last?”

“Sorry, can't help myself.” Then she hastily grabbed mine and Danica's hand, dragging us both toward the second floor of the mall. “Bye~”

“And here I thought I could tag along with James, dang.”

[James' POV]

The girls left, while the three of us walked straight toward the signing section. Yet, so many competitors were signing up. We didn't notice this earlier, until now.

“How long do we have to wait before we can sign up?” Ken frowned.

“Dunno. But my mom will be pissed if I get late,” Frank trembled. “I think we should give up.”

I agreed with Frank. “Yeah.”

Ken let out a short sigh. “... Should we get some Zoogo instead?”

Frank and I bobbed our heads.

We sacrificed the contest, rather than getting scolded by our parents. So, the three of us bought Zoogo on the second floor instead, and sat on the bench near the trash can.

“What a waste, huh?” Ken brought up the contest when he said that.

“Yep.” Both Frank and I answered.

And our conversation ended, nothing to talk about, but hearing the sound of our slurping... Until Frank broke the silence around us-

“I wanna have a girlfriend.”

Yet the topic caught me off guard.

“Yeah, me too.” even Ken went along with this topic. “What about you James? Have you ever thought about confessing to Trisha?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“She already confessed.”

“Really!?” Ken was satisfied after hearing that.

“Does that mean that you two are finally going out now?”

I shook my head and their satisfaction faded away. “I'm glad she liked me, but, Trisha is like a sister to me, and I just want to support her with all I had...”

“Man,” Frank deflated as he placed his arms on the backrest of the bench. “I wonder how she felt about that?”

“It must've hurt, getting rejected and all.”

“Yeah...” I hung my head low, still guilty for rejecting her.

“Hey look at that girl.” Ken pointed.

“Where?” Frank followed Ken's finger where he was pointing.

I turned to my right and saw a girl. Dressed in a dark hoodie along with short shorts. She was leaning her back against the wall and we couldn't see her face due to the phone she was holding. Focused on something. Not that I'm interested in seeing her face.

But... Her presence seemed strange.

“Hm?”

It seemed that her friend came out of the restroom, and my two bros were charmed by her beauty.

I gotta admit. The girl who came out of the restroom was gorgeous. Though, I wasn't even attracted to her. Because I already made a promise to someone whom I cared about.

“Man, if I'm only confident. I would've made my move on her.” Ken tossed his Zoogo in the trash beside him.

“Me too.” Frank agreed.

“Really?”

Lylia's voice emerged from behind, and the three of us jolted in surprise. To the point where we almost had a heart attack.

“Hmm, so that's the type of girl you like?” Lylia grinned mischievously.

“Where did you guys come from!?” Ken exclaimed while flushed.

“We just got here,” Danica answered. “I thought you three were signing up for the contest?”

Ken sighed. “Sadly, the line was too long. Before we even realized that it's not available anymore.”

“Bummer, huh?” Lylia commented. “So, is one of you going to ask those two- wait! They're gone!?”

The girls near the restroom were nowhere to be seen anymore. Regardless, there was this vibe I'm feeling ever since these three startled us.

“...”

Trisha was glaring at me from behind for sure.
