The now stripped Cynthia looked angered by the giant’s insults towards her and the fact that he, well, tore off her clothes. “Don’t you DARE look down upon me!” She shouted out in anger as she released a maelstrom of magic. The giant’s flesh was shredded in so many ways that he couldn’t stand anymore and was forced to fall on his back, causing the whole palace to shake as he landed. “Now if you excuse me…”, Cynthia said as she summoned a new pair of clothes for her to wear.
The mirror then switched to show Frank continuing his trek through the palace. He effortlessly smacked around any of the lesser minions of Maou that were sent his way. “Is that all you got for me Maou!? This is child’s play!” Frank shouted in confidence.
It was when he finished shouting that a loud slither grew loud as another of Maou’s generals came to attempt to defeat him. “Ssso you must be Frank the Warrior? I hear you already beat the Earth Elemental, so that means I will be your next opponent.” Media the Gorgon announced to the back turned Frank. “Now accept your death.”
Frank pulled out the shield that was strapped on his back and used it as a makeshift mirror to see where the dreadful gorgon was. “I had a feeling you and I would face off so I had this highly reflective shield made just for you.” He said towards the shield as he began trying to maneuver around the monster. “Your gaze only works when the person sees your eyes directly, even a simple reflection proves your gifts weak!” He then shouted as he turned to strike at the gorgon with his eyes closed.
Media tried to jump back to avoid the hammer strike yet her tail proved to be a hindrance as it was crushed under the heavy hammer. “Gah! You’ll pay for that you darn nuisance!” Media screamed in pain and anger as she went to strike back at the bearded man. Her claw strike was stopped by an unconventional use of Frank’s hammer, she then instinctively gripped it even as Frank pulled the hammer up and down on the beast.
‘Yes, you can do this Frank!’ I thought to myself as I watched the battle unfold. ‘Now squish that damned snake!’ As if Frank heard me he lifted up his hammer again as he looked at Media’s reflection on his shield. A smile then appeared on his lips as he dropped the shield and grabbed his massive hammer with both hands.
“Wait! No ssssto-!” Media scream was interrupted by the crash of the hammer as it flattened the gorgon causing her blood to shoot up like a fountain. “D-damn you…!” She cursed as the hammer was lifted off her pummeled body.
“Heh, such simple work. Is this really one of Maou’s greatest soldiers?” Frank said as he looked upon the easily beaten general of Maou’s army. “Now onto saving the princess.” Those were the last words he spoke before the mirror switched to show Amati at my bedroom door.
Unknown to the heroine, her princess was in another room, a fact she learned when she opened the door and was instead met by a screaming harpy. Amati raised her shield causing the harpy to fly over her and land on the other side of her in the hallway. “Where is Sonya!?” Amati screamed towards the harpy. When she didn’t get an answer a look of realization dawned on her, “Ah, you must be the Harpy.”
“They say you are the strongest of Maou’s army and that you are quiet as a mouse when you aren’t screaming your head off.” Amati retold the rumors she heard about the Harpy in front of her to which the said monster merely scowled deeper. “Fitting then that I am your opponent then huh? Alright then, let’s dance!” Amati shouted as she pulled out her sword and charged at her foe.

Steel met talons and due to their nimbleness, the talons won out as one stopped the blade and the other clawed at Amati’s face. “Ouch, that hurts you know!?” Amati shouted as she covered the part of the face that the Harpy clawed on. Her hands then lowered to reveal that the talon strike had made a gash in her face which was still bleeding. “Now, it is my turn!”
The fact that Amati seemed unfazed by her attack seemingly caused the Harpy to freeze in confusion as she failed to even move much less attempt to dodge Amati’s sword. The blade cut into the Harpy’s stomach and caused the only clothing the Harpy seemed to wear to fall off as it was no longer supported. “ARRGGHH!” The Harpy screamed at the wound Amati inflicted and the destruction of her clothes before she flapped her wings and began floating in the air again. “DIEEE!”
She then torpedoed Amati knocking them both to the ground and causing Amati to gasp in pain. The two then began to wrestle with the Harpy forcing her onto top allowing her to freely slash at her face as much as possible. “Argh, that’s enough!” Amati shouted as her free hands searched for her sword that dropped during the chaos. “Begone foul monster!”
A silence followed that shout as the blade cut through the Harpy, after a couple of seconds a wet sound was heard as the Harpy separated into two halves. They then began to fade into dust leaving the exhausted Amati to recover. It was then that Frank and Cynthia arrived and they finally caught up to Amati. Before they could question her predicament she told them, “The princess is in another room, find her!”
The mirror then switched to show Maou teleporting into the room which caused me to snap my head back to see him. “It seems this would be heroes are more of a nuisance than I gave them credit for.” Maou noted as he grabbed my arm despite my struggle. “Come, we must move to a more fitting location for the final battle.” Magic then surrounded us as we were again teleported.
After the magic dispersed it was revealed we were now on the roof of the palace. ‘I see, I suppose the bedroom would be too narrow for a proper fight.’ I acknowledged inside my head. ‘This also may be my chance!’ I then began to build up a magic spell I have been tutored on years ago.
“Enough of that.” Maou said simply as he raised his hand towards me and constricted my movement. “You are simply a reward for the winner, whether it be me or the so-called hero, trying to escape isn’t your part. You may, however, struggle all you like.” I then begin floating well above the roof to be lowered when Maou is defeated or after he claims victory.
Then the door to the roof slammed open as Amati’s two companions arrived. “There you are!” They shouted together as they looked upon Maou and me. Frank then turned to face the now floating Maou directly. “We may not be the destined hero who beats you but we can weaken you for Amati to finish you off!”
“Heh, a pre-show before the main event then?” Maou said as he looked down upon his opponents as if they were vermin beneath his heel. “Entertain me then!” He shouted before he flew into to strike at them. He balled up one of his hands into a fist and rammed it into Frank who was too slow in raising his shield.
This provided a boost to his already overflowing confidence yet that tiny boost was mitigated when he was pushed away from Frank by Cynthia’s torrent of flame. “Don’t you dare underestimate us.” Cynthia said coldly as Maou recovered in the air. “Or you are in for a rude awakening!” Maou’s eyes lit up in anger as he flew into the awaiting heroes as they prepared their counterattack.
With the aid of Cynthia’s wind magic, Frank’s huge hammer met the torpedoing Maou dead on causing him to be knocked into one of the palace pillars. As the two celebrated their achievement Maou pulled himself out of the crater his body just made and dusted off the debris. “Enough! This has gone on long enough.” Maou shouted in anger as he prepared a spell.
The spell proved effective as both Frank and Cynthia were ensnared by the demon’s magic. “You shall now be thrown out like the trash you mortals are.” Maou taunted before a flick of the spell caused the two to be shoved off the roof. Their screams were cut off by a large bang and then silence as their fate proved uncertain for me to ascertain. “Now… The hero approaches.”
