BLUE

I stifle a yawn as I wipe the bar top. It is almost 3am and the club is finally closed. We can all leave after cleaning up. I am glad that tomorrow is my day off. I got to catch up on my sleep and chores, and also call my mom. 

“Hey Blue.” I look up from wiping as Bew walks over. He leans over the top and grins at me. 

“I am almost done and we can leave.” I tell my best friend.

“Uhhh, okay. Un, I got a hot date who is waiting for me. You alright if she comes along? I will drop you off first before I head back to my place.” Bew winks.

“If you got a date, just go ahead.” I tell him, totally cool about it. Bew can’t babysit me to and fro from work forever. I know my best friend wants to get laid. 

Bew frowns. “I can’t do that. What if Terry shows up and bothers you again?” 

“It’s been more than a week. It should be fine. He promised to give him time until I am ready to talk to him.” I am really only going to do so when I am ready. I am still pissed off at that cheating idiot. “Anyway, just go with your date. I can take a cab.” 

Bew looks reluctant but at my insistence, my best friend finally agrees. “Okay, but promise me you will text me the moment you’re home.”

I nod and give him my promise. After Bew leaves, I quickly finish cleaning up the bar with a quiet Fluke. Once we are done, I say goodbye to everyone before quickly grabbing my stuff. I am completely exhausted and I just want to get home as soon as possible. 

I head out of the club and bid goodbye to the bouncers who will be locking up. I walk to the main road to flag a cab but to my dismay, the road is rather quiet. I pull out my phone thinking I could book a private car but I curse when I realize the device’s battery is completely dead. Fuck! Since I threw my phone, it has been unreliable. 

As I am thinking how the hell am I going to get home, a black, expensive looking car pulls up and stops right in front of me. My eyes widen in wariness and surprise as the window of the back passenger seat winds down. 

It is him. The Boss. 

He looks at me coolly. What he says next shocks me. “Get in. I will give you a ride back.” 

What?! I take a step back instinctively. Is he going to try and silence me for what I saw earlier?! 

The Boss's eyes narrow. "You just talked out loud."

FUCK! Why am I so stupid!? 

Then, he purses his lips slightly. "If I wanted to get rid of you, it won't be in this manner and it will be extremely easy."

Well, that is reassuring. I guess. But still, I shook my head. “It is okay, I don’t want to trouble you!” 

“It is to thank you for earlier.” He says without expression. “Hurry up. It is impossible for you to get a cab now.” 

“I… um… okay…” I decide to accept his help because well, now I am scared turning him down and wasting his time would end up pissing him off. 

I open the car door and get in carefully. There is a driver in front who nods at me politely as I shut the door. The Boss is still staring at me impassively. Being in a close space with him reminded me of the situation in his office earlier. His aura is too intimidating! I shrink back instinctively. 

“Um, thank you…” I tell the boss awkwardly, glancing at him. 

“It’s nothing. I don’t like to owe any favours.” He tells me before instructing the driver. “Drive.” 

“Oh, my address is…” But before I could finish, the boss cut me off. 

“He knows where you live. Nic told him.”

Oh. Right, Nic would know from my forms. The driver starts driving and the drive is a silent and awkward one. The boss kept his sharp gaze out of the window and I do not dare to speak.

15 minutes later, the car finally pulls in front of my apartment building. I feel a little ashamed at how old and run down it looks. It does not help the Boss is checking the building with an unimpressed expression. I wanted to quickly alight and get away.

"Um, thanks again Mr…" Then I realize I don't know his name. I have been addressing him as the Boss in my head. 

He turns to look at me coldly. "Zero. You can call me Zero."

"Oh…" I did not expect him to tell me his name readily. I guess to him, I am really not a threat at all. "Thank you Mr Zero. Um, I will go now. Bye!" I really want to leave. He is too intimidating to be around. 

Zero says nothing in return. I quickly grab my backpack and after thanking the driver hastily, I alight the car and close the door. I rush into my apartment building, not daring to look behind. I run up the stairs too.

By the time I reach the third floor, I am a little breathless. I am about to take a step towards my apartment but I freeze when I realize there is someone standing before my front door. 

Fuck. Terry. 

Terry's eyes land on me and he gives me a wide smile. I notice he is even carrying a bouquet of flowers. 

"What are you doing here?" I scowl at my ex-boyfriend. And it is already freaking 4am. 

"I have been waiting for you for hours." Terry explains eagerly. "Blue, I really miss you and.. 

"But I am not ready to talk to you yet, Terry." I huff. "You promised to give me time!" 

Terry frowns at my tone as he steps forward. I instinctively take a step back. "But it has been more than a week! How much more time do you need?" 

I glare at him. "Terry, you cheated on me! I need more time than this to process everything!”

"I told you it was a fucking mistake!" Terry interrupts hotly, crushing the bouquet in his hand before throwing it on the floor. "I love you, Blue. We have been together for four years, doesn't that mean anything?!" 

I grit my teeth. "Did it mean anything to you when you slept with someone else? In our bed? Enough, Terry. I never want to see you again."

I am done talking to Terry. I push past him to get to my door. But he grabs my arm and I gasp in shock and pain as he slams me against the nearest wall. He presses his larger body against mine to trap me. 

I stare at him wide-eyed in fear as he grabs my face roughly. "You are mine, Blue. I will never let you go." He growls dangerously. 

Fuck… He means business. I try to struggle away but Terry slaps my face hard and my vision blurs. Then, he crashes his lips to mine to kiss me violently. I feel tears well up in my eyes due to the fear and pain. I try my hardest to push him away but Terry is too strong. I squeal in pain as Terry bites my lip hard. I can taste blood! 

I also know that no one would save me because the apartments around me are empty. I am dead…

Just as I am losing hope, Terry is wrenched off me forcefully. 

I gasp and fall to the ground. My vision is blurry thanks to the tears and the slap I received. I use my hands to quickly rub my face. When I look up, I am shocked to see Zero punching Terry right in the face. His punch is swift, but forceful. Right away, Terry crumbles down on the ground and is knocked out cold! 

This person… he is a professional fighter.. 

What makes it scarier is Zero's expression. It is impassive but his eyes look extremely icy. So cold, it feels like it could freeze hell over. 

Zero turns to me and I shrink back instinctively at his aura. He shocks me when he squats down before me and uses a long finger to make me tilt my chin up. Our eyes meet and my breath hitch. I am frozen and terrified. 

He stares into my eyes for a few long seconds without saying anything. 

This man is impossible to read. 

Suddenly, I feel faint. Light-headed. I feel something wet trickling down my nose. 

I notice Zero's sharp brows creasing slightly.

"You.."

I lift a hand to my face. Not just my lip, my nose is bleeding too now. "Oh."

Then, my vision is blurry again… and my head feels lighter than before. But my eyelids feel extremely heavy.

"Hey…"
