Chapter 47: CHAPTER 47: REUNITED (1)

"Ziphoteninx, what is today's date?" Kairi asked while running at a fast speed.

 

He was alone since Ziphoteninx and Ini went back to his bracelet’s mark.

 

"If I’m not mistaken. It’s June 15."

 

"June 15, huh. This feeling again... My heart thumped nervously every time this date arrived. It's like it is telling me something but I don't know what it is…" Kairi thought in silence.

 

"What’s wrong, Shiroi?" Ziphoteninx could feel Kairi’s confusion.

 

"It’s nothing. I just want to know. So, it’s been a few weeks since we left the Tomb of Spirits." 

 

“Now that you mention it, yes, time really flies fast. Oh, we are here in Ryam Town already but this is not our destination.”

 

Kairi arrived in Ryam Town but he didn’t enter it. He went past it due this wasn’t where Gem and others were. He only glanced at it and felt his heart wanted to stop there for a while. However, their situation doesn’t allow them to waste time. They arrived in Lanya City soon after and continued to look for an inn. After booking a room, Ziphoteninx, in his dog-sized form and Ini appear in the room.

 

"Ziphoteninx, I don’t feel Gem and others are here anymore," Kairi said through their telepathy while his mask opened. He smiled at Ini who looked around the room in a happy mood.

 

Since Gem has the same aura as Ini, he was sure Gem’s aura was supposed to be there but he couldn’t sense it. He didn’t want to say it aloud because he didn’t want to worry Ini. He guessed Gem, Centaurus and Canis probably have left to search for Ini too.

 

“Yes, they are not here but…”

 

Kairi sighs. “Somebody else is here… I can feel six people.”

 

Ziphoteninx laughed. “What a lucky day, huh, Kairi?”

 

“It’s not funny, you know. We don’t even know which was which. They could be Deorc Star members. Man, thinking they would be like Dark Howlan exhaust me.”

 

“Cheer up! I know you can do this. They are your family, after all, Kairi.”

 

Kairi smiled. “You are too, Ziphoteninx.”

 

“Heh!”

 

Kairi turned his head to Ini who was trying to get into the bed. It was taller than him after all. Kairi picks him up and puts him down on the bed they share. He applied for a single room as a normal traveller would. 

 

He also doesn't want to show his wealth yet. As for where he got the money, for these three years, he also did some missions with Dark Kurumi and Ziphoteninx while training himself. So, his pocket was full of cash.

 

“Brother, will Gem be here? I’m worried that he has left with the others.” Ini asked.

 

Kairi brushes his head gently. 

 

“We’ll find them soon. Can you stay with Ziphoteninx for a bit? I will go and search for them while you rest.”

 

Ini nodded before he yawned. He was exhausted after the long journey even though he had fallen asleep in the bracelet’s mark before they arrived. Kairi who saw Ini in a new cloth that was manifested by Ziphoteninx feels glad that Ini wasn’t scared of him anymore.

 

“Go to sleep, Ini. I’ll wake you up later.”

 

Ini nodded again before he went into the blanket and closed his eyes. Kairi adjusted the blanket for him.

 

“You know, if you get married someday, you're going to be a good dad. By the way, the kids would be like this too. But who knows if they are going to listen to you or not when they grow up. So, make sure you marry someone with a good attitude.” Ziphoteninx grins.

 

Kairi rolled his eyes while his face blushed a little. He suddenly remembered Aries. He has never forgotten her all this time. She was his first friend of the opposite gender after he lost his memories. 

 

If he wants to marry a girl, she would be a good candidate, but he wondered if she would agree. After all, marrying the leader of Bright Star comes with heavy responsibilities and he still doesn’t know his true feelings for her. 

 

Also, was he in love with her or he just thinks of her as a friend? Which was it? He needs to see her first to decide.

 

“Enough joking around, Ziphoteninx. Please look after Ini for me.” He got serious again. For now, he better not think about Aries.

 

“Go then. And buy us food! I’m famished!”

 

Kairi nodded before he left the room. The mask closed on his face again.

 

"Wow... Lanya City is big and lively." He thought while walking around.

 

There's a food stall open at the roadside. The smell of food made his appetite increase and he bought everything that he thought he, Ini and Ziphoteninx would like to eat. And since he has powers now, he ensured that no one was looking before he made the foods disappear. It went into his dimension. When he passed a big restaurant, he suddenly stopped before he walked again.

 

“Four of them are inside. While the other two are around somewhere. Should I take a look at who they are?”

 

His curiosity makes him turn back and enter the restaurant. There were a lot of customers in it and Kairi slowly walked past them to an empty table. His eyes glanced around and they didn’t stay for a second even on the four people with hidden power.

 

"Huh? Why do I feel like these people look a bit familiar... Erk! It's them! Aries, Virgo, Agi and Pegasus!" He gasped and his back was sweating a little.

 

"Why are they here?!" 

 

He hasn't seen them for a long time. They all have different looks, attires and heights now but his heart was beating a bit faster after taking a swift look at Aries.

 

“Aries, she has become more beautiful. Her hair is long too but… Why does she look exhausted? Wait, they all look the same too.”

 

Kairi was confused but he doesn't know the reason. Silently, he used his power to take a look at their memories. He froze in his place before he turned his head away. 

 

His face shows guilt. He was glad that he had his mask on or everyone there would ask what was wrong with him. He never thought they were looking for him all these years. 

 

But, didn’t Ziphoteninx already send them a notice letter? Why are they still looking for him? Should he say ‘hi’? 

 

But then, he would expose himself which he doesn’t want to yet. He needs to know the identity of the other two power users before he could appear in front of them. Now, he felt a bit awkward staying there. 

 

A waitress had come to him and asked him for his orders. So, Kairi just orders everything on the menu she gives. Some people looked at him with contempt because he ordered too much and also was showing he had a lot of money. Even Aries and his friends look at him weirdly.

 

Kairi panicked inside when he didn’t mean to order too much. This was probably because he got fluttered after seeing his friends again. When he got his orders, he hurriedly left.

 

“Wow, can he eat all of those?” Virgo whistled before he chuckled.

 

“He probably ordered for some people.” Agi guessed. 

 

He doesn’t recognize such a person. But, the aura from Kairi makes him feel a bit familiar. It was just a slight feeling before it was gone. He wondered if he was mistaken about it.

 

"The masked man… I wonder if he's Kairi in disguise," he murmured, surprising Aries, Virgo and Pegasus.

 

Virgo choked on the juice he drank.

 

"Agi, don’t joke around!" Aries scolded. But she turned to look at the figure that was gone.

 

"Probably not. His hair is white and his eyes are yellow. Even his figure is not Kairi's. And he's tall too." Agi slurped his fried noodles.

 

"But it's been three years... Maybe he's changed." Aries thinks so with expectation.

 

She wished she had stopped the man just now. But, if it's truly Kairi, why didn't he come to them? Could she be wrong then?

 

"He's not Kairi. He doesn't have power. I couldn't sense it on him." Virgo denied.

 

"But four years ago, you said you didn't know Kairi was the heir because you can't sense the power in him." Pegasus chided.

 

Virgo coughed in embarrassment. "So, he might be Kairi in disguise…?"

 

Pegasus shrugged. 

 

"Did you guys see his attire? He has hidden weapons on his waist. It seems he's not an ordinary person. And, why do I think he looked similar to that group of vigilantes?"

 

"You mean that guy? Now that you mention it, maybe he was one of them. Damn! I should have asked for his autograph," Agi turned his head to the entrance. 

 

Vigilante was what they called toward some people who just appeared out of nowhere two years ago. They ran havoc on many rich people who were all not good people in disguise and stole their money before sending them to charity. Even a king from some kingdom lost their money and almost got bankrupt because of them. 

 

Because of that, many posters were sent out by that grievance king. If they could catch them they would be great rewards. Unfortunately, it was impossible to catch those vigilantes. 

 

There were no traces or clues to where they went after the strike on your wealth. So, Agi and some Bright Star users idolised that group of vigilantes who do these dangerous activities without caring for their safety. Even Virgo's eyes lit up when he remembered one of those members had white hair and yellow eyes.

 

He, Agi and Pegasus continued to gossip while Aries went silent. She's not a fan of that group. Only boys with dreams to teach arrogant people would idolise it. Instead, she missed Kairi.

 

"Kairi, where are you? Are you safe?" She whispered in her heart.

 

Kairi, who had walked far away in a hurry, slowed down.

 

"We'll see each other soon, Aries." He replied silently.

 

He had put his link on their mind. He can close it off if he wants to but he prefers to know what they're doing and thinking. He chuckled when he heard Virgo, Agi and Pegasus were talking about the group of vigilantes.

 

"I'll go back to the inn first." He disappeared after moving into an alley. 

 

He used his power to take him back to the inn faster. He didn't think he was unfortunate to see his friends again when he went out but he felt very happy.

 

"I'm back..." He entered the room he shared with Ini and Ziphoteninx.

 

"Welcome back," Ziphoteninx replied. He had laid down beside Ini and Ini was hugging his side.

 

"Did he have a nightmare again?" Kairi's expressions turn worried while staring at Ini.

 

"Just for a moment. He's fine now. So, what'd you get for us?"

 

Kairi opens a portal and puts his hand in it. Then, he brought out what he bought.

 

"Kairi… Don't you know we only have three stomachs to feed?" Ziphoteninx's eyes twitched at so many foods placed on a round table.

 

Kairi blushed. "I accidentally bought too much. Haha…"

 

"What happened during your shopping?"

 

"Well, I met some old friends. Four of the powers we sensed were Aries, Virgo, Agi and Pegasus. They were looking for me."

 

Kairi takes a bite of crusty food and munch on it. He didn't look guilty when he said it.

Ziphoteninx raised one eye at him. "You didn't say hi?"

 

"No. Not right now. We need to discover the other two power users' identities first."

 

"Good job. Training you to see the situation first was not in vain. You must be alert at all times."

 

Kairi nodded and picked up a meal and put it in front of Ziphoteninx. Ziphoteninx opened his mouth and Kairi fed him.

 

"Ziphoteninx, do you know who the other two powers belong to?"

 

"Hm, hm, you'll find out soon." Ziphoteninx didn't want to expose them.

 

"Oh, come on. I notice you already know who they are. Why aren't you telling me about them?" Kairi folded his hand.

 

What exactly is Ziphoteninx trying to do by hiding the identity of those two users? What secret did he hide from him?

 

"Shh! Lower your voice." Ziphoteninx turns his head to Ini who slowly opens his eyes.

 

"Brother Shiroi? Have you met Gem yet?" Ini asked while yawning.

 

"Not yet, Ini. I'm sorry. It seems Gem and others are no longer here. Let's go back to Syarantonia later. Maybe we might find them there."

 

Ini expressed sadness before he nodded.

 

"Come on, Ini. I bought food for you." Kairi cheered him up while showing him various colours of cute buns and appetisers.

 

Ini's eyes widened. "Brother, you shouldn't spend too much. How can we finish this?" Ini scolded even though his face shows happiness.

 

"No worry. Ziphoteninx will eat them all."

 

"Hey!"

 

Ini laughed at his jokes. He went to the table and Kairi helped him up on a stool. They eat the foods with Ziphoteninx joining them too.

 

Suddenly, the three of them were shocked when there was an explosion somewhere nearby that shook the whole house.

 

"Ziphoteninx, hide Ini now!" Kairi's orders while lifting Ini and placing Ini on top of Ziphoteninx.

 

Ziphoteninx disappeared with Ini again. As for Kairi, he jumped out of the window and went to see where the explosion came from. He was stunned to see a few houses were damaged and burning smoke coming out of it.

 

"Help, Help us..." Someone's voice was heard and it seems they got trapped inside the burning houses.

 

Kairi saw many people running away from it and no one seemed to be able to help anyone when they were all in panic. Some were lightly injured and some were severely injured. 

 

Without wasting his time, he went to help the people trapped in the explosion and used his powers to heal them. He doesn't care if anyone sees him using his powers. He cares about other people's conditions more than his identity.

 

"Thank you," a young man holding his children said to him.

 

"Quick! Get out of here. This place is dangerous." Kairi told them and they left immediately.

 

Kairi could hear the city guards coming his way.

 

"He's the last one. Luckily no one died. Damn! Who's fighting around here?" Kairi saved a man and a guard came to help him.

 

"Thank you. May I have the honour to know your name?" The guard asked.

 

"Shiroi."

 

Now that Kairi thinks the situation will be in control soon, he instantly disappears, making the guard shocked and amazed by his power.

 

Kairi appeared again outside the city. It seems those people who fight each other, some of them have brought the enemies away.

 

Kairi could sense Aries, Agi, Virgo and Pegasus were fighting with some people.

 

"It seems to be the people from the Deorc Star." Ziphoteninx telepathy him.

 

"I think so too. It seems the enemies are nearby but those two powers, it couldn't be them, right?"

 

Kairi was worried that his friends had trouble with their allies from the Deorc Star.

 

"What're you waiting for? Go take a look!"

 

Kairi started to run in the direction he felt those people were fighting. When he arrived, he was surprised to see a man of 1.89 metres grabbing the neck of a man in tight black attires. The man's eyes were vertical purples and glow brightly. A second later, he snapped the neck of the man he held and let the body fall. Then, his eyes went to Kairi.

 

When their eyes met, their wrist suddenly throbbed. Kairi hissed while looking at his right wrist.

 

"What the-...?" 

 

He was shocked when the man grabbed his wrist and looked at it. He had his left hand grab Kairi's and made Kairi notice the same mark on the man's wrist.

 

"You are him?!" Both of them said simultaneously.

 

The man let his hand go and move back.

 

"Who are you?" 

 

The man asked in bewilderment. He never could have imagined he would meet the person he was looking for this early after he left Dorothia.

 

Kairi folded his hand. "Shouldn't you give me your name first when you're the one who asked?"

 

The man looks annoyed. "... Dark Lordany… Or Rafiz…"

 

"... Shiroi or you can call me Kairi. It's a pleasure to meet you."

 

"So, he's the one who held my memories…"

 

Kairi continued in silence. 

 

Rafiz's eyes glow brightly. "Kairi… Why did I feel nostalgic about his name? Wait a minute… Kairi?! As in the leader of Bright Star that Dark Hartina spoke of?!" He was shocked.

 

"What're you doing here?! Are you alone?!"

 

Kairi was startled by his scolding. "I'm not alone." He told the truth.

 

Rafiz the one got startled next. Why was he worried about someone he just met? This concern confused him.

 

Both of them went silent.

 

"Dark Lordany!" Someone's voice called from somewhere.

 

Rafiz looked back before he stared at Kairi again. Then, he instantly disappeared.

 

Kairi squinted his eyes. "Hey, that voice, isn't that Hartina?"

 

"Yes. So go and help him and the other Bright Star users."

 

Kairi glared at his wrist. "So, you're hiding Hartina and the one I'm looking for all this time? They are those two users we sense, correct?"

 

"Bingo!"

 

Kairi's eyes twitched. He couldn't be mad at Ziphoteninx since he helped him find the one who holds his memories. 

 

Seriously, he could have told him. Why the need to hide it in the first place?

 

Kairi sighed before he jumped on a branch and left towards Dark Hartina's voice. He hopes everyone was alright.

 

"Make sure you gear up, Kairi. We don't know if other Deorc Star users who aren't from the twelves Bright Star user are there." Ziphoteninx warns him.

 

Kairi nodded in understanding. "You have taught me to be careful and increase my awareness. I won't let myself be ambushed by them that easily."

 

"Good, good. By the way, Ini is watching so make sure you don't do anything gory. He is still a child after all." Ziphoteninx reminded him.

 

"How is he? Is he scared? He just saw someone get killed."

 

"I didn't let him see it. He is watching a cartoon I put on the side."

 

"You are watching cartoons?!" Kairi's eyes twitched.

 

"Why not? We have nothing to do and it is much better for Ini to watch something fun instead of something like murder."

 

Kairi facepalm. But, at least Ini didn't see the killing scene just now. Afterwards, he ignores Ziphoteninx and focuses on his surroundings. He can feel he was getting near to the battle area. But, he stops for a moment when an assassin comes at him suddenly. He immediately dodges the attack while bringing out his sword from his waist.

 

It seems the assassin was using a sharp knife and a half-moon shaped weapon where the inner can be gripped while the outside has a sharp blade. The assassin, who was a woman, aimed her half-moon weapon at Kairi. Kairi avoided it and swung his sword to her head. He knew it would fail due to the assassin lowering her body. She moves so smoothly like a dance. her legs kept attacking Kairi's lower legs and Kairi avoided it swiftly.

 

"Woah, this girl really rocks!" Ziphoteninx commented.

 

"Please shut up!" Kairi growled.

 

Ziphoteninx would bother him most of the time when he was in such a situation. It was to train him to focus but it also makes him want to beat Ziphoteninx up. Kairi didn't want to battle too long so he made a feint attack which she avoided but only to have herself make an opening to Kairi's punch.

 

"Sorry." Kairi apologised because he had to hit her neck.

 

He was surprised because she didn't faint. Instead, she jumped back away after the hit and retreated.

 

"You're not going after her?" Ziphoteninx asked.

 

Kairi shook his head. "No need. I am amazed by her tolerance to faint. So, let her be. If we ever meet again, then let's see it next time."

 

"You're soft."

 

Kairi rolled his eyes. He continues to move toward Rafiz and the others.
