Chapter 48: CHAPTER 48: REUNITED (2)

"Shit! How are there so many of them? An ambush?!" 

 

Virgo punched a man with a knife that was aiming at him. Then, he kicked him away. He summoned his long gun in his hand and without mercy, he shot the man in the heart. The man slumped on the ground, no longer moving.

 

Virgo panted heavily before he turned to look at his friends and another person. About an hour ago, they accidentally met two people who they were very stunned to see. But before they could argue or talk, a group of hooded men appeared. 

 

They were the Deorc Star's assassins, in disguise as citizens. Virgo and his friend were surprised when one of the two people instantly killed one of the assassins. And then, another assassin who seems to have a bomb on him throws it at them which makes the explosion happen.

 

"They're going to destroy the city! Bait them to leave!" The one who had killed the assassin just now told his partner.

 

Both of them run outside the city. Since Virgo and his friends seem to be targeted too, they also quickly leave. Virgo feels a little guilty that he couldn't save or help anyone in that explosion.

 

"Aren't they supposed to be on the Deorc Star side? What happened in these three years? I couldn't believe this…" Virgo's feel complicated.

 

Moreover, another one was someone they missed for a long time. Their friend who was kidnapped by the Deorc Star three years ago…

 

"Rafiz… Wait, where is he?" Virgo looked around him but he didn't see Rafiz around them.

 

"Virgo, watch out!" Agi blasted a light laser toward the assassin who jumped at Virgo.

 

"Focus, Virgo!" He then scolded.

 

"Sorry…" Virgo aimed his weapon at the enemies who were attacking Aries and Pegasus.

 

"That Dark Hartina… What is going on with him and the assassins? How did he make enemies with them suddenly?" Agi was confused while staring at Dark Hartina who was fighting with two people.

 

They seem to be tougher than the rest of the assassins.

 

"How do I know? Ask him!" 

 

"Hartina!" They snapped their heads towards Rafiz's voice.

 

He appeared and attacked the assassins that were fighting with Dark Hartina. Two blades slash away at them but both escape his attack.

 

"Rafiz, be careful. These two assassins' ranks are slightly lower than Ledeigh rank. They're called Vishmere and Qorlan." Dark Hartina told Rafiz.

 

Rafiz nodded and attacked them while Dark Hartina aimed his black bow at them. They help each other during the fight but it seems like their enemy too knows how to sync with each other.

 

"Kairi, you're not going to help?" Ziphoteninx asked.

 

"I want to see it first. If it gets dangerous I'll help." 

 

Kairi was hiding on a branch nearby while using invisibility like Ini's stellar power. His invisibility hides both his presence and aura so no one there can sense him. He was sitting while watching the fight below. It was interesting to see them battling. But his eyes couldn't help but go to Aries for a long time before he turned away.

 

"You know, if you like her, just ask her to be your girlfriend." Ziphoteninx scowled at him.

 

"Ziphoteninx… Shut up."

 

Ziphoteninx cackled. "You have been staring at her. I don't see you're looking at any woman in these three years but the moment you lay your eyes on her, they stuck there. Isn't that obvious?"

 

Kairi groaned. "But I don't know if I like her as a lover or a friend."

 

"You idiot. You like her, that is obvious. As for loving her, you need to ask yourself. After all, from her memories, it seems she loves you a lot. So, this is not one-sided, you know."

 

Kairi blushed to his ears when he also remembered seeing it in her memories. His heart also races up.

 

"Ziphoteninx… Shut up."

 

Ziphoteninx grinned in his mind. "You're a fool if you let her go."

 

Kairi went silent and continued to watch over the battle. This wasn't a place to let him focus on his love life. He better stops thinking about it.

 

Ziphoteninx sighed. "What a stubborn fellow or is it because he is shy…?" He laughed silently.

 

The battle on Aries, Virgo, Agi and Pegasus sides just finished. They were now watching like Kairi on Rafiz and Dark Hartina's battle.

 

"Those two assassins are better than the one we fought with," Agi commented.

 

Aries agreed with Agi. "It's hard to believe they're on par with a Deorc Star user. How can that be?"

 

"They must be instructed under Dark Revier directly." Pegasus frowned.

 

"True. Only Dark Revier assassins can fight on par with us or maybe stronger than us." Virgo folded his hand.

 

"You forgot. I once got killed by one of them." 

 

"Pegasus…" His friend looks at him sadly.

 

Pegasus' experience of death was something they would not understand unless they felt it too. They could only encourage him.

 

"It's in the past. Thanks to Kairi or I would never step into the living again."

 

"Sighs… I wonder where he is." Virgo brushes his hair back with one hand. He looked frustrated.

 

Kairi who heard him looks guilty but he endures his heart which wanted to appear near them.

 

"Sorry, everyone… I'll show myself soon."

 

As for Rafiz and Dark Hartina, they were stronger than the assassins. Dark Hartina slipped a dark wave in their mind which disturb their focus on which Rafiz was able to strike down on Vishmere. When Qorlan had put his slight attention on his partner that was in trouble he abruptly fell back when Dark Hartina's arrows hit him in the chest. It came at him fast like a thunderbolt, hard for him to avoid it.

 

"Qorlan!" 

 

Vishmere shouted but he wasn't able to help when Rafiz appeared on top of him and punched him. Such weakness could only lead to his defeat in Rafiz's hand. Rafiz had one hand holding his blade and thrust it on Vishmere's chest.

 

Rafiz panted heavily and got up from Vishmere. Dark Hartina came near him, also breathing in and out fast before he took a deep breath and let it go slowly. The battle, although it was only for an hour, exhausted almost all of their energy. This shows how much they were struggling against the assassins.

 

Suddenly, they were startled by the clapping sound of someone. They immediately look up at a tree a few metres away from them. Even the Aries group looked over in surprise that someone was watching them without them knowing it. 

 

They all except Rafiz become alert after seeing Kairi. After all, they don't recognize him even for Dark Hartina who had seen Kairi before. It's just that Kairi's hair and eyes look different so he could never guess the man was Kairi. 

 

Only Rafiz frowned at Kairi. "What is he doing?" He thought silently.

 

"Who are you?" Virgo asked. "Wait, aren't you that guy from the restaurant just now?"

 

Kairi jumped down and looked over at him with a nod.

 

"You guys are awesome. It is really a good show." Kairi's voice came out differently from normal due to his mask.

 

Agi and Pegasus frowned. This man was just watching and didn't help them. They don't know if he was their ally or enemy. They raised their vigilance against him.

 

"A good show, huh? It seems you like to battle too. Are you from the vigilante group?" Dark Hartina asked.

 

"Hartina, that guy is-…" Rafiz was about to tell Dark Hartina about Kairi's identity when suddenly a white visible wall in a square shape trapped him inside.

 

It wasn't just him, Aries from beside Virgo also was trapped in it. The walls shocked them all.

 

"Rafiz!"

 

"Aries!"

 

Their weapons were summoned out and aimed at Kairi. There's nobody else who could do it other than him.

 

"Wait! He's Kairi!" 

 

Rafiz shouted but it seems Dark Hartina and others couldn't hear him. So, he glared at Kairi.

 

What is he trying to do? Is he testing us…? But what for?

 

Rafiz was confused. Kairi winked at him which made him startled.

 

"I just want to have a friendly fight with all of them. You stay there and rest, okay?" He heard Kairi's voice inside his mind.

 

"Why are you doing this? This is not the place and time!" He growled.

 

"Oh, are you worrying that the enemies might still have hidden somewhere? No worries, you all have already finished them all."

 

Rafiz felt complicated. He turned to Dark Hartina who was checking the wall.

 

"Rafiz, I'll get you out soon!" Dark Hartina mouthed to him before he turned to Kairi in anger.

 

He felt that Kairi was playing with them but he doesn't understand why he would do that. 

 

"You, let them go!" 

 

Virgo shot at Kairi and initiated the first attempt. He needed to see how strong this man was in front of him. Kairi didn't avoid the power bullet, instead, his right hand just grabbed it.

 

Kairi looked at his right palm. A tiny ball of light was in it. He thought it was cute and nudged it with his left finger. He noticed an attack from Pegasus that swung his greatsword from above. So, he just used his left finger to grip the blade edge. 

 

Pegasus was surprised. His weapon can't be pulled back with all his strength. It was like his weapon was stuck there. He was irritated when Kairi under the mask smiled at him. The smile provoked him to use his right leg to swipe at Kairi's head from the left since Kairi's left hand was occupied by his weapon.

 

Kairi stops it with his right hand after letting go of the ball of light. He also grabbed Pegasus's leg and threw him away from him. Pegasus landed and summoned back his weapon. But, it seems the weapon couldn't disappear or break away from Kairi's finger.

 

"My weapon, it stuck! But how?! Who is this guy who can overpower the stellar's power?!" Pegasus thought in shock before he had a feeling he knew this person.

 

No way! Is it him?!

Kairi nodded at him when he realised Pegasus had guessed his identity. Pegasus' eyes twitched.

 

What the heck?! What is he doing this for?!

 

"This guy is too strong! Who the hell is he?!" 

 

Agi exclaimed after seeing the fight between Pegasus and Kairi. He didn't realise Pegasus's complicated and confused expression.

 

Aries inside the wall were worried for her friends. "Who is he?"

 

She saw an arrow being shot at Kairi from Dark Hartina's weapon but Kairi used Pegasus' greatsword to protect himself. Such a person who could even use someone stellar's weapon surprised her. Her thoughts finally guessed something that astounded her to her core.

 

"No one else could do this other than… Is it really him?" Aries's eyes teared up.

 

She cupped her mouth with a palm and silently sobbed while looking at Kairi. Even Virgo, Agi and Dark Hartina finally noticed the truth. They all stop their attack and look at Kairi in disbelief. 

 

Kairi chuckled. It seems everyone already guessed it. He makes the wall around Rafiz and Aries disappear and then looks at them one by one.

 

"It has been a while, everyone." His mask opened, showing his gentle smile to them.

 

"Kairi?!" Agi and Virgo gasped.

 

"You, you are him!" Virgo approaches Kairi and looks all over him. "You're even taller than me!"

 

Kairi might have looked different but his face still had similarities to his old self.

 

"Haha. It's been three years. Do you think I won't change?" Kairi felt funny with Virgo's statement.

 

"Seriously, why did you make us fight with you?!" Agi scolded while folding his hand.

 

Kairi smiled sheepishly. "I want to see if you guys can guess it was me. And you did. Congrats."

 

"You… This isn't funny! And look at what you have done! You make Aries cry again!" Agi pointed to Aries behind him who didn't move after the wall disappeared.

 

Aries was startled when Kairi looked at her.

 

"I'm sorry… I'm sorry that I've worried all of you all these three years I've gone." He sincerely apologises. 

 

"But, didn't a message was sent to you guys through a letter that I have been taken away for training? Why are you guys still looking for me?"

 

Agi and Virgo turn their eyes away.

 

"Do you think we would believe it? You were hurt and lost…" Agi looked at Rafiz and Dark Hartina. His eyes couldn't help glaring at Dark Hartina. "... Lost all of your memories."

 

"That's right! And it's all his fault!" Virgo pointed at Dark Hartina.

 

"Ah, I see… Hey, Hartina, it seems you need to apologise to them, you know." 

 

Kairi's friendly call to Dark Hartina shocked all of them except Rafiz who already knew their relationship.

 

"I was about to and explained if it wasn't for the assassins to appear suddenly." Dark Hartina replied. "And when did you arrive, Kairi? Why didn't you inform us?"

 

"You should ask Ziphoteninx and my brother. It seems they hide your location from me and make me come here guessing who I was going to meet with. Who would have thought it was you guys." Kairi complained.

 

Dark Hartina looked pitiful at him. "Sir Ziphoteninx tricked you again, huh?"

 

"Isn't he always… So, now, why don't you introduce yourself to them."

 

Dark Hartina turns his head at Aries and her friends who were stunned into silence. He hesitates to say because these people were once wounded by him and Dark Howlan. He even killed many of their soldiers at that time. He looks remorseful when he remembers it again.

 

"I… I know it is impossible to be forgiven and I won't ask to." He begins.

 

"What?!" 

 

Virgo was angry. He would have shot Dark Hartina if it wasn't because Kairi seems to have made friends with him.

 

"Now, now, Virgo. Let Hartina finish his explanation." Kairi told him to calm down.

 

Virgo went quiet and harumph. Then, they listen to Dark Hartina's story even if they don't want to. However, his stories make them gaped and feel hard to believe.

 

"... After listening to Draco and Sir Ziphoteninx's explanation I realised I live in a world where Dark Revier lied to me and everyone in Dorothia. He also had changed our emblems that once were Bright Star stellar's emblem. Dark Revier is not a human… He is a monster! He must be stopped!"

 

Rafiz pats his shoulder with one palm. It seems Dark Hartina's problems and full stories were now known to him. He only knew a little bit since it was dangerous for him to know more when they were in Dorothia.

 

Aries and her friends went silent. They were thinking about the details of the stories and got serious. If their family members were kidnapped a few hundred years ago, why was no one able to get the information about it?

 

"Dark Revier or his true name, Revioryx had eliminated them all before they could bring the news back to Syarantonia," Kairi answered their silent question.

 

"And these lost family members of ours are still now in his hand, holding over their life which will weaken our power to defeat him. We need to save them and it would not be easy since they have long been brainwashed by Revioryx.." He continued.

 

Aries turns her head to Dark Hartina. She stopped crying when Dark Hartina explained his stories. She now approaches him suddenly.

 

"Aries?" 

 

Everyone looked at her in confusion. They were shocked when Aries slapped him hard. Dark Hartina, who noticed what was coming, didn't avoid it. He let her take her anger out on him.

 

"Now, we even."

 

Huh? That's it? Dark Hartina blinked his eyes in confusion.

 

"What? It's not like I can kill you now or forgive you yet. You have to apologise to all of Syarantonia's people. They lost their family members because of you!"

 

Dark Hartina lowered his eyes. "Yes. I'm sorry..."

 

"Good. Now, I'm sorry too for hitting you."

 

Dark Hartina was startled when he saw Aries give him a small smile.

 

"Welcome back to our family, Hartina, Rafiz. It must have been hard for you both after knowing the truth. Welcome back, both of you... You are safe with us now." She told them while calling Dark Hartina's name without the word Dark.

 

Dark Hartina's eyes slowly teared up. He couldn't believe this. However, the holding tears fell to his cheek, shocking Agi, Virgo and Pegasus. Dark Hartina wiped his eyes but it seemed he couldn't stop them for a while. 

 

Rafiz once again patted him. He knew his suffering and the pressure that Dark Revier had put on him.

 

"Erm… I won't forgive you right now but… Welcome back too, Hartina, Rafiz." 

 

Virgo also welcomed them. He scratches his chin with an embarrassed expression. If someone told him that the Deorc Star user was a Bright Star user before, he might have thrown them to the lake in Syarantonia. Now, he could only believe it when Kairi was here to prove it.

 

Agi and Pegasus didn't need to say it but nodded at Dark Hartina and Rafiz. They have accepted the truth. There was no longer to not believe it anymore. After all, this was not the time to argue or fight over something that has long passed over. They have a common enemy now.

 

"How are we going to rescue and make them believe us, Kairi?" Agi asked about the rest of the Deorc Star users.

 

"We'll talk about this later with Leo and the rest in Syarantonia. We need a plan to persuade them." Kairi answered him. 

 

They need to talk with Leo and the high echelons. This decision cannot be decided alone even though he was their king and leader. He needs their opinions on this topic.

 

"True. Then, let's go back to Syarantonia." 

 

Agi moved his hand to summon a teleportation field but he was stopped by Kairi's hand on him. Agi looked at Kairi with confusion.

 

"Have you guys forgotten something?" Kairi asked with a sweet smile.

 

"Oh, you mean the bodies?" Virgo and Pegasus turn around.

 

They knew a long time ago that Kairi would build a grave to bury their enemies.

So, they better hurry and bury these people before they leave. Dark Hartina and Rafiz looked at them strangely while they were gathering the dead bodies.

 

Kairi put his palm on his head. He actually didn't mean those but it was alright if they could bury all these people. It would give off a bad smell later on anyway.

 

After they finished, they turned to look at Kairi.

 

"Sighs... Do you guys forget something else?"

 

All of them looked at each other before they shook their heads.

 

"Lanya City…" Kairi told them.

 

"Ah, oh my god! We forgot those people who got bombed!" Virgo went into a panic.

 

"Right! And it's all our fault!" 

 

Dark Hartina blamed himself. The assassin must have been following them silently under Ledeigh orders. His face went pale. He would have never cared before but now that he had turned into a new leaf, he must care about other people. Even Rafiz's expression shows guilt.

 

How could they forget the incident?!

 

Kairi waved his hand at them. "It's alright, everyone. No one died. I have saved the ones who got trapped and only some have injuries that have already been taken care of by the medics and guards. What I want you guys to do is to compensate them for the damage." Kairi explained.

 

"We'll do it right away!" Virgo and Pegasus disappeared faster than Kairi could stop them first.

 

"Erm, let's go together," Kairi told the rest who nodded at him.

 

So they went back to Lanya City again. Truly, today was a lucky and exhausting day for Kairi. But he was happy to be reunited with his friends again. After the compensation was done, Agi teleported them straight to the entrance of Antonia's palace.
