Chapter 74: CHAPTER 74: CONFESSION

"I have something I need to talk about with Aries alone."

 

Kairi's sudden request startled Aries, Virgo, Gemini and Cancer. He also stood up and gave his right palm to Aries. Aries looked at him before she put her hand on his. He clasps around her palms gently and brings her out of the meeting chamber. The others raised their eyebrows at them before they turned to each other.

 

"I think…" Cancer wanted to say something but he didn't seem to know how to say it.

 

Virgo sighs. "Don't forget the rumours that circulate from three years ago. It wasn't false." 

 

Then, he went out too.

 

"Well… I am underage so I'll leave first!" Gemini also walks away.

 

He left the stunned Cancer who was still shocked over what Virgo said.

 

As for Aries and Kairi, they went to Kairi's room. Kairi led her to the outdoor balcony and seated them on the sofas provided there. He also felt Ziphoteninx leaving his mark and didn't know where he had gone too. Seems like he let Kairi and Aries have their own privacy.

 

After sitting, the two were silent for a moment. Aries felt uncomfortable being alone with him. She tried to keep her face from blushing but she was unable to hide it. She wasn't sure what Kairi wanted to talk to her about. She was nervous all of a sudden. 

 

After all, Kairi did mention he wanted to talk to her alone before. It was just that there was no time for them to talk until now.

 

"Aries..." Kairi called softly.

 

"Y, Yes...?" Aries stuttered accidentally.

 

It makes Kairi chuckle.  "You know… I have been asking myself since then."

 

Aries didn't understand his sentences but she waited for him to continue.

 

"And for a long time, I already know how you feel about me…" 

 

Kairi tried to make sure he didn't scare her with his sudden words but...

 

Unfortunately, she still looked shocked, scared and so embarrassed that he knew about her feelings. Her face had turned deep red until her ears looked like it too. Kairi couldn't help to chuckle again.

 

"Don't, Don't make fun of me!" Aries throws a small pillow on the sofas at him.

 

Kairi caught it and put it beside him. He stops his laugh and his eyes turn serious next. He was silent for a moment while no longer looking at her, making her heart thump louder in her chest. 

 

She has an inkling that she doesn't want to hear his answer. Her thoughts start to guess a lot of bad things.

 

What if Kairi wants to tell her that he doesn't like her or more dreadfully he might dislike her for showing her affection to him?! Could it be that Kairi hates her?! Is that why he wanted to be alone with her so that he didn't embarrass her in front of everyone when he told her this…? 

 

She felt her eyes getting hot and slowly forming tears.

 

"Aries, I am sorry… Hm? Wait, Aries! What's wrong?! I haven't said anything yet!"

 

Kairi was shocked when a silent tear flowed down her cheeks abruptly. Since he had no power, he couldn't read her thoughts. Now, he was in a panic when he saw crying grief.

 

What did he do?! He doesn't seem to have done anything to make her sad… Yet.

 

Aries felt embarrassed for her sudden burst out and quickly wiped her tears away. But, the tears won't stop at all and make her sadder even more.

 

"W, Why...?" She asked while gulping and sobbing.

 

Kairi felt guilty seeing her like that and went to kneel in front of her. He pulled both of her palms into his and caressed them gently.

 

"Aries, I like you too. I do but I am not sure if I can make you happy. I… I am dying…" He told her the truth that surprised her to her core.

 

"Wha, What'd you mean?! What do you mean you are dying?!" Her face went pale.

 

Kairi looked at her sadly. 

 

"Only you, Ziphoteninx, Kironinx and the angels know about it now. When Revioryx sucked my power, he cursed me too. The curse is slowly eating my life essence. The angels have tried to help me remove it but it was so complicated that they were only able to slow down the curse's pace. Aries, I… I don't want to make you unhappy in this life with me. So, please, I hope you can like someone else…"

 

Aries was stunned to hear it. She was quiet for a moment before she shook her head. Her eyes flowed more tears and they dripped onto their holding palms. Kairi changed his position and sat beside her. Then, he hugs her to him with her head on his chest. 

 

His eyes were red too but he blinked away the tears that wanted to form. He slowly patted her back and rocked her gently. He has long accepted his consequences and hopes Aries will find another man that can make her happy.

 

He was told about his short vitality a week ago by Andreit and Lisione. It was hard to accept it but… Dying doesn't scare him but what scared him was losing everyone he loves and the people of this world in Revioryx's hand. He doesn't know how long he can live but he must defeat Revioryx before he dies.

 

After a long time, Aries finally calmed down but her sniffing can still be heard.

 

"Kairi." She called him softly.

 

"I'm here."

 

"I like you..."

 

Kairi smiled and kissed her hair. Her hair smelled like rose and it was soft too. He closed his eyes while losing himself in her scent.

 

"I know…" He told her a moment later.

 

He let her go and lifted her face before he wiped her tears. He looks straight into her eyes.

 

"This reminds me of when you shed tears three years ago. Do you remember it? You were crying because me and Rafiz lost our memories."

 

His reminder makes her smile a little. She nodded before she looked into his eyes.

"How long…?" She whispered.

 

She was asking him how long he could live.

 

Kairi slowly shook his head. "Not sure."

 

"I see… Kairi, I won't stop liking you." 

 

"Huh?" He was startled by her words.

 

"I won't find another man. I only like you, love you. You would be the only person I would give my heart to. I won't change my mind, Kairi."

 

Kairi's eyes widened at her confession and determination. He could hardly believe it. 

 

How could Aries still want him after knowing he would die?

 

"But, Aries-…!" 

 

His words were stopped by one of her fingers that was put on his lips.

 

"You're not dead yet, Kairi."

 

Kairi raised an eyebrow at her and she chuckled at his confused expression.

 

"It's just an excuse to keep you away from me but it also means you're willing to bear it alone. It saddens me because you don't want someone to take responsibility for you and help you deal with it together." Aries looks at him softly.

 

"I don't want to see you alone, Kairi. If you're going to die, I'd rather see it with my own eyes rather than know about it later. Either way, you're not going to make me feel better so you should let me care for you until the flame of your life ends."

 

"Aries..." Kairi's heart thumps wildly.

 

He looked at her in amazement and felt guilty again. There was also fear in his eyes that she could see it clearly. So, she quickly kisses his lips and hugs him tight.

 

Her sudden action made his eyes widen in surprise. His mind instantly went blank. He could feel her soft lips touching his and slowly he moved his lips to a more comfortable position. Then, he kissed her deeply, sliding his tongue into her. Aries shuddered at his intrusion but allowed him to do anything he likes.

 

Kairi still has some consciousness that he was doing something bad and would be scorned if he went further. So, he let her go soon after. He put their foreheads together and stared at her gently.

 

"Being with me would make you live in misery, Aries. Are you still willing to be with me after knowing this?" He asked her for confirmation.

 

Her eyes closed and opened to look at him. "I am willing." She smiled at him.

 

Kairi feels his entire being was in joy after she answered him. Although, he still was a little worried. A worry that whether he can make her happy or not before he died. Yet, he still hopes he can do everything before then and wonders what he can do so that Aries would not be too sad after he leaves. He must plan carefully.

 

A few days later…

 

He woke up from his sleep because he felt someone moving in his sleeping chamber. The smell of rose calms him so he smiles at the person who notices he was awake. 

 

"Aries, good morning." He told her with a smile.

 

Aries gives him a morning kiss on the lips. 

 

"Good morning."

 

She won't do that in front of others since Kairi wants to keep their relationship a secret. He didn't want to expose her to Revioryx and endanger her life. So, they have been intimate in secret. Though, the intimacies were only kisses, hugs and holding hands. Still, both of them were satisfied like this. It shows how much they care for each other.

 

Kairi doesn't want to go further unless he marries her. But, he couldn't do that yet due to Revioryx still around to kill them and also give him and others a lot of pressure and trouble with him destroying more cities in Dorothia.

 

Currently, Aries was handing him a cup of tea she had made while he was still sleeping. It has been a few days since she took care of him and didn't allow anyone to do it. With this, she has some alone time with him.

 

"I am selfish. Would you still like me, Kairi?" She had asked him once before and worried about it for a long time.

 

And Kairi answered her with a deep kiss. "I like it if you are more selfish toward me."

 

Aries smiled happily. Now, she was waiting for him to finish his bath. Ziphoteninx appeared not long after and went to lay on Kairi's bed.

 

"When are you guys going to get married?" He asked her.

 

Aries was startled by his sudden question. Her face instantly blushed and look at Ziphoteninx in embarrassment. Only Ziphoteninx knew their secret relationship.

 

"Because you guys are acting obviously in front of everyone."

 

"What?!" Aries' eyes widened.

 

"I mean everyone can see that you guys are acting lovey-dovey. So, hurry up and marry already! It will make everyone happy too, you know."

 

Their secret wasn't a secret at all. When the two of them start speaking, it was like they were in their own world. Even ignoring everyone around them. 

 

Lyra even gawked at them when she finally realised who Aries had fallen in love with. If she happened to meet Kairi in the hall or somewhere, she would give him a glare which confused the latter. And Aquila would apologise to him many times for her wife's behaviour.

 

"Cough… Sir Ziphoteninx, I don't think this is a suitable time. Let's wait first."

 

Ziphoteninx frowned. "You don't know what'll happen in the future."

 

Aries understood his meaning. Either she or Kairi might lose their lives in their next battle with Revioryx. And it doesn't matter if Kairi died later or during the upcoming battle. She might be dead first before Kairi would…

 

"I… I'll talk to him later. So, please don't put more pressure on him, sir." She pleaded.

 

Ziphoteninx let out a sigh. "Fine…"
