In the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s national team lost in the best 16th round.
“...Ok, Once again, It is clear that Japan is at an impasse when it comes to Our World Cup performance.” With her fingers clasped together, a woman with neck-length brown hair that has two braids tied on either side in the back and chocolate-brown eyes spoke.“Unless we want a repeat of this performance next time, I recommend we develop a plan…What do you think, president?”
[ Name: Anri Teieri (Omega)
New member of the Japan Football Association ]
Sitting opposite her on the O-shaped meeting table was a fat, old baldy. He didn't seem to care about her words. “Huh? Our profits are good, so what do we need to change?” The man, resting his head on his fist, looked up disinterestedly. “In the end, Football is nothing but business.”
[ Name: Hirotoshi Buratsuta (Delta)
President Of the Japan Football Association ]
“Why don't we just get ourselves one of those foreign coaches to give the team that spark amidst all those Japanese players? Then, if the team gets a losing streak, we’ll fire the guy and blame it all on him.” Was his half-joking reply. “So long as we maintain the Japan national team’s brand, we’ll be fine reaping the profits generated by it.”
Anri stared silently at him, obviously unamused, but inside, her Omega When any of the characters say their Alpha/ Delta/Omega it is them referring to their instincts. In their mind, their rationality and instincts are separate. You could think of them as their own chibi selves in their minds. growled at this old baldy who dared call football business.
“What do we do if your so-called reform affects our bottom line?” Buratsuta crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair as he questioned. “We should value our current situation. It’s that simple!
Oh so simple…Oh, so sim…Oh, sim…OH.”
Suddenly he sat up and barked out a laugh.
“Do you guys remember Osim~?!”
“Buhahahahaha!”
“Do that one thing like Oka-chan!”
“Kazu Miura!”
“Kazu is out!”I don't really get the jock but 's the translator's explanation.
The other association members started to fool around even more.
Anri was silent for a while before she stood up.
“...Certainly, the Japan national team’s been at a standstill for the past 25 years… As a country represented in every world cup tournament… It shouldn't be difficult to maintain a higher standard…”
“And yet, I must apologise for my words now!” Instantly everyone's attention turned to Anri.“If this situation remains the same, Japan will never…”
She declared. “We will never win the World Cup.”
Silence.
“Huh? Anri-chan, don't tell me… you really think they can win? Japan, Winning the World Cup?!” Buratsuta Mocked. Clearly, he was very amused by the childish thought.
“Of course I do, you damn tanuki. It is my biggest dream to see Japan winning the World Cup!” She exclaimed.
As the other members whispered amongst themselves about her figure, she was unbothered (this wasn't the first time people whispered about her body) and continued with her explanation. “‘Japan’s passing playstyle will carry us to the world stage’? `We will win if we keep doing our brand of football’? We keep saying these things, but sentiment won't advance us past the round of 16.”
“And you might say that, Anri-chan… But Do you have some kind of plan to change this?”
Anri put on a determined face. “It is up to us to create the ultimate players that can lead japan to its first World Cup!”
It can be said that now Anri had finally gained the attention of everyone from her body to what she was saying.
Switching the slide, a man’s photo appeared on the screen. “Now look at this! He will be the coach to break down the foundation of the current national team!”

“Goooooo, Isagi! Come on! Go, Go!”
“This is our last chance!! Isagi!!”
Ichinan’s No.11 was dribbling the field with Matsukaze’s No.7 and No.9 desperately trying to stop him. Even though he was clearly smaller than them, No.11 moved quickly and dodged all the attacks sent at him.
‘If we win, we’re going to the nationals!’ he thought. His head was empty, only ‘Nationals! Nationals! Nationals!’ echoing in his adrenaline-filled mind.
[ Name: Yoichi Isagi (Omega)
Ichinan High School Forward Second-Year ]
No.6 blocked his path but Isagi was too fast for him, leaving his opponent confused.
‘Which way?! Which?! Which?! WHICH?!’ No.11 urgently tried to figure out where Isagi was going. ‘Here!’ He guessed.
But he was wrong and Isagi slipped past him easily.
‘Come on, It's this way, you Dumbass!’ he mocked in his mind and his omega snickered at the stupid dumbass, as he continued to dribble.
Now Isagi was in front of the goal, facing the goalkeeper.
‘One-on-one with the goalie! I have to shoot! I’ll have to shoot!’
[ Name: Shohie Inaba (Delta)
Matsukaze Kokuo High School Goalkeeper ]
A fire burned within Isagi, something was starting to wake up. ‘The Nationals!’
His Omega’s eyes had practically turned into 2 little fireballs as he pumped his fists in the air.
“Isagi!” The sudden call from his teammate snapped him out of his focused state. “Pass it, I'm open!”
“....” ‘Ah, Tama-Chan…’
Glancing to the side, he saw that No.9 was indeed open.
“I got it!” Their eyes met and No.9 reassured him.“I’ll score the goal!”
‘If I pass… We’ll Probably Score that goal.’ Isagi thought absent-mindedly.
“What the hell are you doing, Isagi?! If you shoot it, it’ll be the end!!” his coach yelled. “One for all and all for oneeeeeee!!”
Isagi Narrowed his blue eyes under pressure ‘That's right…Football is….! A sport played with 11 people.’
Isagi passed the ball to his teammates but for some reason, he couldn't really say he was happy even if they scored that goal. His omega turned his face away, dejected. But he didn't linger on the thought. ‘Alright Now, it's a tie…!’
Maybe it was because No.9 was exhausted but when he kicked the ball the shot was unstable, it hit the post and bounced off.
‘What?! Damnit!!’
The ball was still in play.
“Counter! Counter!''Taking the opportunity, No. 7 shot the ball towards Ichinan’s Goal. “Go for it, Kira!”
Matsukaze’s No. 10, a boy of Isagi's age received the kicked ball and dribbled towards the goal, dodging all the defenders.
[ Name: Ryosuke Kira (Alpha)
Matsukaze Kokuo High School Forward Second-Year ]
He was unstoppable as he rushed in front of the goal, pushing past all the defenders and kicking the ball inside the goal, giving his team a point and ultimately winning the game.

‘It's Over. We lost.’
Exhausted, he sat down on the spot, trying to catch his breath. His teammates slowly gathered 'round.
“I’m soooorrrrryyyy, you guyzzz….” Tama apologised with a face full of sweat, tears and snot. “If only I’d scored….. If only I'd score……”
Others around him tried to comfort him despite also crying themselves.
“Gather ‘round team.” The coach called. “ You did well. As much as it hurts, this is the end of the road for Ichinan high school.”
“It's the last game for our third year… And for some of you…your last time playing football… But you should be proud of those days you fought together as a team.”
“You will remember this defeat for the rest of your lives…Gh…But don't ever think it was meaning less… and remember it fondly for the rest of your lives…Gh…” Even the coach had tears in his eyes. “There's nothing meaningless in life! To me, Ichinan high will always be…The best team in all of Japan!!”
‘No.’
Isagi looked at his team members who were crying. He was the only one who doesn't cry when all the members and even the coach cried. He just stood there sweating.
The meeting soon concluded.
As they headed to the lockers, Isagi could still hear Tama-chan’s cries and self-blame.
“Don't cry Tama. It wasn't your fault. If a certain someone hadn't hogged the ball to himself and passed sooner, then I'm sure you could have made the shot. Plus that pass was so short, it was a miracle you could even reach it.”
Isagi halted and looked back, staring straight into No. 5’s eyes. No.5 was a first-year and wasn't really a fan of having an Omega playing on the team while he, an alpha, sat on the sidelines.
“What? Gotta problem with what I Said? Do you have something to say? Huh, little Omega?”
Isagi gritted his teeth and stood still, maintaining eye contact and not giving in to instinct, but inside his Omega had already started to tremble little tears gathered at the corners of his eyes.
No.5 was the second alpha on the team. The first one was the captain and he was with the coach. There are 3 Deltas but he knew they wouldn't help him. Betas couldn't tell the difference between normal voice and alpha voice, to them it was just a louder voice than usual, so he wouldn't expect any help from them.
He knew that as an omega, he would be blamed for their loss. But that doesn't mean he would just stand by and do nothing.
He opened his lips, about to defend himself when—
“What are you doing still not changing back? Do you guys really not want to leave that bad.” The coach’s voice interrupted the stand-off between them as he urged the change.
‘We’re just some team that fell one step short of playing at the nationals.’
On the way home, Isagi slowly pushed his bike forward and thought back to every game he had ever played, all those times he scored a goal, The moment he found out that he was an Omega, all of his coach one-for-all, and all-for-one pep talks, the ball bouncing off the post, the last goal Kira scored and No.5’s offensive remarks.
‘But it looks like my dream will be just that, and nothing more… But well, if I think about it… I don't think I could become a pro at my level.’
Isagi thought of Kira. Even though they were both second-year, they were already miles apart. ‘I guess only guys like him get to go pro…’
‘I only have one year left until I graduate…If I don't achieve anything by the end of high school I’d have to quit…Huh? ‘
Closing his eyes he thought of the possibility…if he hadn't passed… if he had just shot the ball…Would the outcome still be the same…Could he have changed his fate?
“Nah… what-ifs are pointless in football… we didn't win because I chose…to go for team play…”
Sighing, Isagi decided to leave it alone and walked quietly.
“Football is a sport played with 11 people, so… one person can't win on their own.”
‘Listen up newbies, Ichinan High is a team with its sights set on the nationals with all 11 players! Don’t you pipsqueaks think football can just be won with one player alone! One for all and all for one!’
“One for all…”
He tightened his grip on the bike handles. He had held onto his tears for far too long. He breathed in deeply and lets out a shout.
“Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
He finally let go of the emotions he had after the game. He doesn’t know when he started crying as his vision blurred, he felt tears flowing down his cheeks, and he could barely make out three figures running in his direction, halting to a stop and running away.
His heart still felt so heavy.
He grips the bike handles even tighter to try and block the negative feelings he felt.
He dislikes this.
He wants to win!
He wants to go to Nationals!
But he couldn’t.
He feels lightheaded.
He bit his lower lip as he muffled the sobs threatening to get out, to stop his bubbling anger from being known to the world.
He wanted to win so badly!
He didn't want to Quit!
The sky was already dark by the time he reached home. It was so cold, he could see hot air escaping from his mouth.
“I’m home.” He kicked off his shoes.
“Welcome back dear! How did the game go?” His mother asks.
“We’ve lost. We’ve lost. We’ve lost.” He sighed, and immediately added, “I’m hungryyyyy.” To Change the topic. He really didn't want to think about it any longer.
“That's too bad! I even made Tonkatsu Today!”His mother went on to whine about all the work she put in to wish him good luck.
“Arnt you supposed to eat it before the game?”
His father beckons him to eat as he sits down on the chair.
“Sorry, Yo-chan but Ma and Pa don't know much ‘about all that football stuff!”
“By the way, Yo-chan! A letter arrived for you from the Japan Football association!” His mother told him as she held out an unopened white envelope.
“Wha…?” Isagi muttered his cheeks full of pork cutlet, a grain of rice stuck to his cheek and his eyes blown wide from surprise.
His parents chuckled at the adorable sight.
“So what's it say?”
He opens the letter and reads it out loud for his parents to listen in.
“Hmm, ‘Player Improvement Project’...?”
“But wait, isn't this a good thing?” his mother asked when she saw Isagi’s rigid expression.
“Who knows!”
Well, you couldn't say he wasn't happy, it was just too...sudden
He feels unrealistic from the unexpected pie falling from the sky.
‘Why me?’
He thought.
