Standing in front of the gates of the Japan Football Union, Isagi look up at the building and then looked at the address, cutely tilting his lil’ head, confusion written all over his face in bold letters.
'Why’d they go into all that detail, only to skip the most important parts? Where are we supposed to meet? Am I on a candid camera show or what?'
He wondered if it really was the right place to be at. He had no idea why he was chosen, but he was glad someone scouted him. His Omega pushed up his chest in pride.
“Oh? Aren't you from Ichinan High? Isagi-kun, right?” A familiar voice. He turned to the direction he heard the voice from and-
“You were invited, too? Figures. Good game the other day.”
"Oh...." 'It's Ryosuke Kira!'
"Nice to meet you, by the way! “Kira pointed to himself. “Do you know who I am?”
“Ah, yes...Of course! We lost against you the other day and all....” He replied shakily.
“Well, I totally remember you!” Kira replies "I had a hunch that you were quite the player"
"Yeah, I thought you had an impressive field perspective and a high football IQ. I noticed in the match earlier..."He held his chin and starts complimenting him with a thoughtful smile “I thought ' If this Omega and I were in the same team, I'm sure I'd get some amazing passes!'"
"Ah, Thanks..." He muttered, a blush creeping on his cheeks as he ducked his face into his green check muffler, gripping the strap of his sling bag. His omega couldn't help but purr at the praise, and he felt his cheeks heating up. ‘Is he serious...!? Did I just get praised by Ryosuke Kira!?'
“Right, Then, shall we?” He points to the building and led the way like a perfect gentleman. “To be honest, I don't even know where we're supposed to meet. I tried calling, but they aren’t picking up either.”
"Yeah, Same." He trotted behind him in a state of silent excitement. 'Here I am, just talking with Japan's Youth Football Star, Ryosuke Kira, Like it's no big deal!'
“And hey, There’s no need to be so formal. We’re the same age. Right?” Kira demands with a soft smile. “So let's act like it! Nice to meet you, Isagi-kun.”
'He’s so nice.' If he hadn't known any better, Isagi would have thought Kira was flirting with him! 'He's amazing both in football and socializing. He must have a tone of omega admirers. And he acknowledged me! Honestly, this feels amazing!'
Kira opened the doors to the building and Isagi’s senses were hit with an uncomfortable amount of pheromones. He scrunched up his nose in distaste. His legs had turned into jelly; instincts going haywire. Why were there so Alphas and Deltas here?
Getting used to the stench a little, he regains some composer. Fortunately, there were ventilators or the smell would have been overvalued.
"Wow... There are a lot of guys here...!" He muttered. Inside was what seemed like a large conference room and it was packed with boys of Isagi’s age
"I think I recognize a few faces...." Kira replied to his confusion "That's Okawa, the ace from Senno...and that's Ishikari, the tallest player in high school...Oh, I see Nishioka, the 'Messi of Aomori', is here too."
'Hang on. Don't tell me... Is everyone here a forward?'
The lights dimmed. He bite his inner cheek, trying to get used to the smell.
“Congratulations, my unpolished gems.” Isagi turned to look to the front of the room where a skinny yet tall, pale alpha with short black hair in a bob cut, wearing a pair of old-fashioned black frame glasses and black overall walked up the stage in front of the large group of teenagers. He had a strange air around him.
“You are the 300, 18-and-under strikers who have been chosen solely based on my arbitrary and biased decision-making to be here today.”
……. Was he wearing flip-flops?!
“And I am Ego Jinpachi, the man hired to make sure Japan wins the next World Cup.” World Cup?
Whispers filled the room.
“Who’s that guy? You know him?”
He didn’t even notice Kira standing so close. From the movement, Ego walked up the stage every eye was glued to him.
“Nah, no way…” He stepped back a little, unnoticeably, creating some distance.
Ego continued his speech, with an unenthusiastic expression on his face.
“That is all for the details. Nice to meet you.” The lights are back on.
This time not even a word escaped them, as each and every one of the chosen 300, silently digested Ego’s words.
‘What...did he…? What did he just say…?’ Isagi didn’t have much time to duel on his thoughts.
“Um, excuse me.” He looked in the direction of the voice to find Kira raising his hand, “I can’t agree with what you said just now. Each of us has a team that’s important to us. Some of us have Nationals coming up.”
Ego’s unresponsiveness was like an invisible presser on Kira.

“There’s no way I can accept those kinds of terms. I…I will not throw away my own team.”
“…That’s right! I’m also playing at the nationals!”
“And why do we have to all live together!”
“Yeah that’s right!”
“Who the hell are you anyway!”
“Bring out someone who is not crazy!”
He hears a few agreements from the crowd. ‘Yeah… Bringing us all here so suddenly… We can’t accept just like that…All that talk about The World Cup…What if they are organ traffickers!!!’
Isagi peeked around from the corner of his eye trying to find anyone suspicious. ‘…Wait.. since we are in the JFU maybe not …Or what if they want to do some secret government experiment!!! I’ve read something like this on the internet! They take in a group of youths in the name of the camp and do experiments on them! And afterwards, threaten them with the lives of their loved ones!! Something like ‘if you tell anyone about this we will kill you,r whole family’!!!!! I got to be careful of any injections!! But what if they use sleeping gas!!!!—’
“…I see” Isagi’s wildly runaway thoughts were caught back by Ego’s voice. “You’re all seriously ill, Huh.”
“Lock off.” He lifts both his arms and made a get-out gesture “Get lost. If you think of leaving, go right ahead.”
“Your terms are what now….? You’d choose your teams over the World Cup…? You’d rather be a High School champion in this shithole of a country than become the best striker in the world..? Huh?” Kira seems to have flipped ON some hidden switch of this alpha, since his aura changed from before. It wasn’t something big, it was as small as drawing a dot on a blank sheet but it still changed something. “Are your perspective really that limited? You are the future of Japanese Football?”
His mind was blank as he continued listening to Ego Jinpachi’s words. His words were slanders but true.
“…How insulting. Take those words back…”
Kira seemed to be completely ticked off by Ego since he, seething in rage, fists balled to his sides, once again raise an objection.
Ego scratches the top of his head, uninterested in what Kira had to say. “Hm? Honda? Kagawa….?” But Ego seem to have no qualms about making fun of Kira, his mouth spreading into a creepily wide smile, as he used Noel Noah, Eric Cantone and even Pele as examples.
‘I feel like what he’s saying must be …Wrong… Because…Until now, no one’s ever told me this…..It’s impossible…some no-name omega like me would never ….. I’m just some random sticker…’This was getting out of hand. Isagi was beginning to feel a storm of emotions.
“I’m saying it once again loud and clear….”
‘I had already lost... I haven’t achieved anything…’
“Abandon all common sense. On the field, you’re the star.”
No one had ever told me something like that before….’His throat was dry.
“Nothing should bring you more joy than your own goals. Live only for that moment.” The wall behind Ego opened, revealing automatic doors.
He was sweating as if he had just played a game.
“Now that’s a ‘striker’, Don’t you think?”
His body moved in an instant. The outside world was mute to him since all he could hear was the loud sound of his heart beating.
‘I am a striker.’
Unknowingly Isagi caused a chain reaction.
Someone once said…In the world of soccer, it was possible to produce First-class goalkeepers, defenders, and midfielders … However, the same cannot be said of strikers.
Strikers are an entire species. After all, a First-class striker is one…who appears in football’s most critical moments.
“300…Everyone decided to participate, it seems?”
“So gears have started to turn. “A short omega with light brown hair emerged from behind the curtains. “From now on, I will follow your every order. I'm trusting you with the futures of Japanese Football and these three hundred boys.”
Ego smiled, “… Perhaps, we’ll have to sacrifice 299 players for this… that will create one true sticker above them all. That's the essence of Blue Lock.”
“It is.”
“Then let us begin, Anri-Chan…”
“This will become…Football’s most critical moment.”
