Chapter 12: Fights and affection

The engine on Lian's s back accelerated as his eyes colored concentrating on the charcoal black-haired girl in front of him in a short navy blue kimono with outlining of orange koi's swimming around on the sleeves and lace on the bottom.

She had two short wakizashi side by side prepared. The girl furrowed brow at the young reaper.

"So you are Yume?" Lian smirked.

"You are nothing more than a memory of an amazing reaper." Yume laughed.

A man with white wispy hair dressed in a blue work shirt and jeans sat by Gemma on the porch and quietly and waited for the two to warm up.

"Waku, how long did you say she had trained for?" Gemma asked.

"Here we go!" Yume shouted.

"Since she could walk…" Waku answered.

As she jumped out of her geta sandals to leap at Lian she thrashed her smaller blades at Effie who only cackled out. 

"Don't give out Gou! Ichika answer me!" Yume cried out.

Their blades smashed one into another. Sparks flying in Lian's pursuit to push her off got harder by the second. Effie moaned out in pain.

"Mountain spirits hear me! Define gravity!" Yume called.

Flipping backward the swords fell to her sides. She dashed towards Lian ramming herself as the blade sunk into his chest.

Lian jerked away at the sight of blood made him tilt from side to side. He blurred for a moment nearly dropping Effie only to pin himself straight. Yume became confused.

"Lian?" Yume questioned.

He moved forward lurching at her step by step. Waku stood on the edge almost ready to fall off immersed in something he could not yet put his finger on.

"Yume…" Waku whispered.

Every messy prance one foot down on his heel to sluggish bed to the right. Yume bolted on high for Lian's sword to catch her in flight. He bashed into the ground repeatedly slamming the dull side into her face.

"You really think gravity-based attacks will work on me?!" Lian said enraged.

Yume shrieked. She kicked him away catching her balance with an acrobatic pirouette spinning off her fingers as she vaulted away a safe distance.

"The fuck is wrong with you?!" Yume yelled.

"I agree. Your student is carrying blood lust…that would make him a dangerous reaper!" Waku argued.

"Do you wanna pussy out now?" Gemma questioned.

"These children are still young!" Waku shouted.

"But we are allowed to teach anything within the ranges given!" Gemma pointed out.

"I am halting…Gou and Ichika are more important right now." Yume mumbled.

"Fine! Go!" Gemma howled.

Waku took Yume's weapons before helping Yume up from the ground. The look of disappointment hung on her face.

"Take a shower, Lian…" Gemma proposed.

His eyes sunk back falling to the ground after. Effie manifested back into a being assisting Lian to sit up. She knew he was not trained enough to handle her yet, but she is able to keep him in check with her own energy.

"I guess take him to bed…"

Gemma was disappointed. She wanted to see Yume put out. Effie said nothing carrying her human burden across the room to her small bed.

He would sleep the rest of the day before waking. Effie grunted unsatisfied with his performance on the moves she was yet to use.

"So Waku was unhappy with us," Tremain noted.

"Not my fault they are wusses!" Effie shouted.

"I knew Waku's kid couldn't handle it. Thank you." Tremain said.

"When are the first tournaments?" Effie asked.

"Two years…why are you so adamant?" Tremain questioned.

"I just want to know how long till I can work this kid over!"

"I see…well then I leave him to you." Tremain smiled.

"What if his weapon finds him?" Effie inquired.

"Then you are ordered to kill her…"

He said nothing more leaving her with Lian resting quietly. Almost always is he sleeping on his stomach. The device makes it impossible to rest on his back anymore.

Effie nearly bit her thumbnail off from mere stress riding on her duties. She truly feared the other weapon's ability to find them as this used to be her home at one time.

"I need to make him forget her…"

Peering over at Lian she jumped up on his bedside to look down at him from above. He looked like nothing special and used advantage equipment from his father who once constructed it before he died.

"What are you thinking?" She growled.

Placing her forehead on his he groaned out turning to the side. His hand moved to try to grab whatever was disturbing to slip kicking her in the face in return knocking her off the bed.

THUMP!

Lian was still sleeping. She had become aggravated jumping to her feet. She puffed her cheeks miffed by her companion's attitude.

"WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" Effie shouted.

He bolted up in bed gawking around curiously. He didn't understand why Effie was just standing in front of him with such an angry expression on her face.

"Effie?" He pondered.

"After what happened Yume you think I am gonna just let you sleep?!" She yelled.

"I fought someone today?" He questioned.

"You fought Yume!" She howled.

He hopped off the bed to sit upon the edge giving his attention to Effie. A stunning revelation hit her that she had been controlling him from behind with all her means to keep him afloat.

"What do you want me to do?" He asked.

"No…just go back to sleep I wanna talk to you later."

"I am awake now." Lian smiled.

She blushed to hide it by facing the other way. He decided to get dressed in front of her to have Effie take her foot kicking his device.

"I am a lady!" She scolded.

"I thought we were partners now?" He said confused.

"Not while you are doing this stuff you sicko!" Effie screamed.

He finished quickly to dash out of the room turning a sharp left almost plunging to the rotted wood. 

"I am going now!" Lian responded.

"Dumbass!" She shouted.
