"NO!" Lian shouted.
"Lian…" Aylin responded.
"Ay-lin!" Effie smiled.
Her hand moved in the air at the sound of her name being called out to her. Reaper became suddenly shocked realizing the power that Lian gave the sword.
"Princess!" Graham shouted.
"The problem is…Lian finally said her name." Effie explained.
"Let's go home please, Effie," Lian begged.
"No! She is ours now and she is the real clue!" Effie stated.
"What do you mean?" Lian asked.
"Merrick…" Reaper whispered.
A quick glimmer of light bounced off the sun onto Effie's skin illuminating her. Lian clutched tightly her arm embracing and swinging her out.
"Darkness Leech!" Lian howled.
Graham and Reaper watched in horror as he repelled them from coming any further. The swung his blade in fear of Aylin being used if they attempted to get close in the darkness of fog spraying out surrounding them all.
He trembled to feel the bony fingers caress his sides. Looking up he barely makes out Tremain pulling him aside wafting the haze away.
"Reaper! Graham! Oh and I swear I could have finally heard your name…" He smiled.
Aylin gulped. She was so far away from Lian yet so close, but Lian out of fear couldn't bring himself to take the chance and she knew it.
Frozen he barely stares into Merricks partners eyes. The guilt in his heart was an un-even one as Tremain patted the top of his head scrunching his hair up messily.
"Please…let's go back." Lian pleaded.
"But the fun is just getting started!" Tremain stated.
The large black blade vibrated Lian's hand letting a simple snicker. He didn't want to hold Effie yet he was obligated so as to not get Aylin hurt.
"Now wouldn't you like to play?" Effie asked.
"No! Let's go back already!"
"Let Lian go!" Reaper shouted.
"And why would I do that?" Tremain cackled.
The fine edges carved down the sides of the weapon became to glow. Aylin could feel the immense energy emanating from Effie. Her aura now circulating into his veins caused Lian to slump over.
"Lian!" Ayling gasped.
"Now you will see the true power!"
"No the hell we won't!" Graham shouted.
A manifestation of fire a ring from his palms pulling them apart. Setting everything a blaze around them. He charged head fast into the waxy blue man.
"HELL'S BLAZE!!" Graham howled.
After everything settled down they quickly noticed he was unaffected. Lian was aghast at how his skin was resilient to being burned.
"What…" Graham said softly.
All eyes all pinned on the man stuck in almost statue-like mode. He broke free seconds later to have Reaper reversing backward. He didn't expect Tremain to be unable to be affected by the elements.
"Lian…you can't destroy me!" He roared.
Lian couldn't take his eyes off the man who forced him into this house for what seems like weeks maybe years, but he wasn't sure and bringing the hasty aura swiftly coming back down to reality.
His head became fuzzy. Memories of a man who never was truly in his life now appeared before him in hazy half-white depictions where rainbows reflected in shadows.
"Lian! Lian!"
The voice cried out to him. In the house, he had been staying that he had known as his father's. Before now it was standing right in front of him.

"Dad…"
His hand held out with a smile on his face. Was this real? Was he really looking this man in the face who was part of the reason for his own birth?
"You need to stop being scared to fight." He scolded.
"It has to be me?"
Lian became silent feeling everything that has been happening to him had been horrible since the time he was found by the Reaper himself.
"Kindness helps those find peace in death and resilience helps your sword the motivation to become stronger with confidence in the hardest of times," Merrick explained.
"Like you were a real reaper?" Lian shouted.
"I was, but now I wait in eternity as punishment."
"Punishment?" Lian asked.
"You need to take yourself back, Lian! Fight this!"
The encouragement made him forget how hollow he had been feeling lately. He was taught to train day in and day out. His life had become dull with the fare of fight in his heart where he couldn't do anything else.
"What if something happens to me? That man…"
"He is merely feeding on a time when happiness was us fighting." Merrick laughed.
"Why is that so funny?"
"He used to be a good man, but you can purify him. A scythe isn't just a weapon." Merrick noted.
"What do you mean? Why does it all sound so hard?"
His curiosity got the better of him when it hit him. He remembered hearing scythes are not actually great weapons, but for Reapers, they would be great.
"I can hear the wheels in your head turn, Lian."
"That means they were sharp because we willed it?"
"Now you got it!" He grinned.
"Dad, can I ask you a question?"
"Hmmm…"
"Where is Mom?"
"She is somewhere beautiful."
"I see…I am sorry I couldn't protect her." Lian said.
"She knew from the start, Lian. I am sorry I have to go now."
"No! Why can't stay with you!" Lian cried out.
No answers as everything faded him into non-existence. Ares, Gemma, and Effie encircled him from above looking down on him.
"Was I too much for you?" Effie howled.
Tears laced her face. She was beyond upset with herself. The light shining in his eyes puzzled him.
"Lian, can you hear us?" Ares questioned.
His hands waved in front of his face blocking the torch nearly hot enough to scorch his skin. Disoriented he remembered his father's words.
Instantly he hid his face. Everyone picked at him pushing his hands off and not giving him an inch of peace.
"Stop please!" Lian shouted.
"Give him space!" Effie scolded.
They all back off giving him room to breathe. He sat up bowing over with his eyes closed rubbing his temples. He realized he didn't want to be there anymore.
"Please let me rest…" He pleaded.
