"Wake up, my liege! We need to retreat!"

Henry dizzy consciousness only allowed him to hear a hasty shout as a powerful force lifted him up by the arms. This sudden jolt allowed him Henry to clear his mind and eyes, allowing him to see the world around him.

If he could reduce everything in front of him to a single world, it would be chaos.

Hundreds of people wearing leather armor, thick fur mantles and holding old weapons, from spears to bows were killing each other as fire rose to the skies.

"Where am I?" – Henry worriedly asked himself.

The last thing he remembered was jumping inside that crazy river as the fighting sounds neared him. Now, he was in some sort of ancient battlefield, with corpses laying all around him.

"MY LIEGE! GET HOLD OF YOURSELF" – The voice sounded again, accompanied by a strong shake that finally woke Henry to the present.

He had no time to worry about the past. He had to solve the issue at hand first.

Henry looked towards the voice owner's, spotting a blemish white hair and a face free of any wrinkles. An old man armed with a sword and wearing some sort of heavy metal armor was standing in front of him, with a worried look.

The old man grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the back of the people on his side, running away from the battlefield. Henry had no strength to fight back, only follow behind him.

"RETREAT!!!!" – The old man loudly yelled, seeing that they were in a favorable position, almost behind a crude stone wall.

At his sound, the soldiers on their side turned around and dashed towards the walls, following right behind Henry and the old man. Unfortunately, those who carelessly showed their back rapidly got killed. It was gruesome.

Henry who came from the modern world couldn't help but be scared at that mindlessly massacre. He had never witnessed a murder or any kind of armed robbery, so this scene was shocking.

Fortunately, the old man took care of everything and brought him to a safe place or else…he would be one more number on that pile of corpse.

"CLOSE THE GATES!" – The old man yelled again as a few men pushed a heavy wooden gate and placed thick wooden struts, inhibiting anyone from easily break the gates.

Luckily, all the retreating soldiers made it back in time, no one was left behind. As soon as their feet reached the seemingly safe heaven, they dropped to the floor, tired, scared and above everything else, relieved.

"TREAT THE INJURED!" – The old man ordered, looking at a few women and men, wearing some sort of white apron, near them. - "GIVE THE OTHERS WATER AND FOOD."

He knew that the immediate necessity was to treat the injured and make the other able to fight again.

Henry was on the side, still scared but calmly absorbing his surroundings and everything around him. It might leave everyone wondering, how can a modern man, used to order and peace, be able to remain this calm under these circumstances. It could only be credit to an inborn talent of his that kicked in everytime he went through a stressful event that brought him to the edge.

It was a self-protection mechanism against hostile environments. Due to that, Henry could finally get a good look around him.

He was in a some sort of medieval town, with narrow and unpaved streets surrounded by wooden houses. The people seemed malnourished and dirty, indicating an extreme lack of food and hygiene, corroborated by the smell of feces and urine all around that got worse in this extremely cold climate.

Looking behind him, the wall that protected the city was about sixteen feet tall, high enough to delay enemies attacks. However, the seemingly carelessly piled rock didn't seem to transmit much assurance to the eyes of a layman like Henry.

"My King, are you fine?" – The old man approached Henry and apprehensively scoured his body, searching for injuries.

Henry looked at the man strangely, he had no idea why this old man was calling king. Furthermore, he had no clue about his name.

"I am good, Luther!" – Henry abruptly said, shaking off the man's worries and pushing his hands away.

However, he stopped after realizing that the man's name came out of his mouth naturally. How the hell did he know the man's name?

Henry had no time to figure it out as a strong headache struck him and strange memories flooded his brain. Memories of a young prince that had to take charge of a small kingdom in the north after his father's premature death. Memories of a prince that had to watch his people die of famine. Memories of a reckless, stupid and egoistic young king that died after a powerful hit on the head.

"Liege!" – Luther's scared and concerned voice sounded as Henry's consciousness slowly faded away together with the pain.
