Henry sat on a padded simple wooden throne while slowly massaging his temples. It has been a few hours since he woke up with the memories of the body's original owner, which led him to understand the situation at hand.
The previous owner of this body was called Henry von Stahl. A young king that assumed the throne of Stahl, a cold nation in the northern part of the Alur Continent.
Stahl was a country devoid of riches and surrounded by a huge forest, inhabited by barbarians and wild animals.
The scarce resources and the cold weather forced the people to ration their food all year round and build their houses from wood collected on the forest. From a modern perspective, it was a precarious lifestyle, reeking of malnutrition and poverty.
"Barbarians…." – Henry murmured in disbelief. - "How can I deal with them?"
Lawless humans who didn't have a consolidated culture or a state that could grant them a stable environment to develop. They inhabited the northern regions of the continent, which restricted their diet to mostly wild and dangerous animals of the freezing wilderness. This diet allowed their bodies to grow past seven feet tall, being higher much higher than their peers at the central plains.
As winter neared, the kingdom of Stahl usually suffered from Barbarians incursions, resulting in many villages being burned down to the ground and countless deaths. However, for some mysterious reasons and for the first time, they chose to attack the capital of Stahl, Eisenburg.
In the past, this action could be considered as a certain march to death as the number of soldiers protecting the capital greatly outnumbered the barbarians and the king was a powerful strategist, capable of stopping their advance.
However, the previous king's death was accompanied by the disband and betrayal of important families greatly changed the situation of the kingdom and the capital, giving the barbarians a chance to strike and root out their enemy.
The poorly armed soldiers together with a hot-blooded and reckless young king, crazy to prove himself, were the perfect recipe of disaster. The young and unprepared king, under Luther's strong protests, led his army to a direct confront against the powerful barbarians.
It was a complete massacre.

Stahl's malnourished soldiers couldn't stand a frontal confrontation against the powerful barbarians. They fell like leaves on the ground, painting the white snow in red. The scene caused the young king to despair, and, in the heat of the battle, he was hit on the head, allowing Henry's soul to take over the body.
"This dumb fucker!" – Henry screamed and facepalmed himself – "This incompetent wasn't able to wait for a couple of days until the barbarians ran out of food. It was a battle of time and not of strength."
The unnecessary deaths of the soldiers could only be credited to this dumb and egocentric king who didn't listen to Luther, a much more experienced general that have been fighting the Barbarians for years.
"What can I do about this situation?" – Henry asked himself, letting his head comfortably rest against the throne – "The winter is still not here which means that they can take their time on the siege, even collect resources from the forest to keep us here."
Henry was a professional player of strategy games, which demanded a lot of research on war tactics and strategic planning. Because of that, he considered himself an expert even though he never participated in any kind of war…well, at least he wasn't in the dark about the best way to lead an army.
"According to Luther, we have enough food for three weeks"- Henry thought in dismay, while looking at the badly done wooden ceiling. – "I need to turn the situation around. Time is not our friend!"
Henry closed his eyes and pondered about the whole situation. There were about two thousand soldiers able to fight against almost four thousand barbarians with time in their hands. It was the worst outcome.
Furthermore, there was a variable that could influence the whole fight, no the whole world as he know…Mana. It was a mysterious energy that when used in the right way could destroy a whole army with a snap of fingers.
"This thing called Mana…I need to understand it in order to take the most assertive responses." – Henry said, opening his eyes and decisively getting to his feet.- "Let's go to the training field."
From the memories of the original Henry, he knew that the Stahl family had a way to effectively utilize mana. He had to try it out.
