Chapter Four.
“Take you with me?!” the boy looked at Elsie in surprise. Why was the daughter of the man he was trying to kill, be on her knees begging to be taken away? Did she hate it so much here, that she would go with the person who was trying to kill her father?
“No, why would I?” It was an obvious answer, and one that should have stayed that way, however, while turning around to leave, the boy was suddenly stopped, finding it difficult to move.
He turned around to see Elsie grabbing onto his left foot, being dragged along the floor.
(Just what kind of girl is she?) The boy thought to himself, completely amazed at the actions of the princess. The one whose father ruled the entire underworld, the one who would inherit the same title and throne. Yet here she was almost on the verge of tears, begging to be brought away by some stranger.
What would he do? The girl’s persistence was extremely annoying, and it wouldn’t be long before the other women came back.
This was a truly difficult situation. One in which the fate of his life was held on.
If he continued to reject her proposal, he would eventually bring attention to himself and would be killed.
However, if he accepted her proposal, he would be taking the devil’s daughter with him on his journey, in which he would not know if she would backstab him, or even worse. Have this annoying girl follow him everywhere.
A perilous situation. One in which both options included the idea of death, however, none gave complete freedom…
Although her eyes were watery and her face red. Elsie who was a professional at such trickery and petty tricks was happy inside.
(I’ve almost got him now, just a little bit further.) she could already picture the boy sneaking her away from the Palace while her father didn’t even know.
Once she had gotten far enough away, she would promptly leave the boy and finally start the life she had been dreaming about every night and every day, the life of adventure!
Just a little bit more, just a little bit more persuading and she would finally have her way.
Elsie was feeling a rush of enrapture.
This would be the first time she so boldly went against her father. However, this thrill also made her forget about the consequences that would face her if she got caught. How long would she be locked in her room for this escape attempt?
“Please! It’s like torture living here!” she carried on her act weeping fake tears. “I have no friends, everybody treats me great here, however, it’s all fake, I want to know the feeling of being equal to someone!” She continued. “Please, you can get rid of me after, but just bring me out of here.” She was crying at this point with her head down.
Although she was putting on an act, every single word she spoke was the truth, she truly hated the circumstances of being stuck in this loop of hell.
The boy finally made up his mind.
*Sigh*
“All right, I’ll take you, ok? Now stop crying!” with a somewhat distraught tone, one which reflected a regretful decision, the boy finally agreed to Elsie’s proposal.
“However.” He was not finished. “Once I get you far enough away from here, I’m leaving you, ok?”
After hearing this. Elsie’s tears stopped and she nodded heavily, agreeing to the boy’s condition.

“All right let’s go before that woman comes back.” The boy said before placing his ear against the door to check if anyone was going past. After a while, he slowly opened the door and peeked both sides before waving Elsie to follow.
“Excuse me,” Elsie said just before the boy walked out.
Angry that he had been interrupted, he turned around abruptly. “What!? If you don’t want us to get caught, shut up and follow me!” He was on edge, however, Elsie continued.
“Wouldn’t it be better if I was in front? I know the layout of the Palace like the back of my hand. It’s just that I can’t get past the guards, or would have already left this place long ago.” She said, still putting on her submissive and shy act.
Her acting was flawless, it would be hard to find anybody better at it than the princess. Why was this?
It was because she had to learn and act throughout her life, she had to act like a proper princess, and she had to act like someone dignified. When in reality she was just a girl who wanted nothing more than to explore the outside world and act the opposite of “Dignified.”
After thinking for a second, realizing that Elsie’s plan was good, the boy nodded and let Elsie go in front.
However, while this was a good idea, he was still on edge. Who knew if the girl would trick him and lead him straight to the guards, or worse, Stan himself? Three to five guards he could handle, however a dozen or so? It would be his end.
With his current physical condition, he was no match against the devil, he had to retreat for a while and heal. So allowing the girl to show him the fastest route out of this massive place was the best option, no matter how risky it was.
What struck the boy about the princess, was how fast her mood had changed.
From start to finish, she had been cowering and teary, however, once he had accepted to take her out of the palace, Her mood suddenly perked up, and she was like a completely different person.
Had he been played by like a fool? The boy thought to himself, doubting if everything she had done up until now was all an act.
After thinking for a bit, he disregarded the thought. It was almost impossible to put on an act like that. And even if someone was able to do it. It would not be a cute girl like her.
The boy faintly smiled.
“That’s right, I forgot to tell you my name.” He said quietly, not trying to be loud.
Elsie suddenly turned around, his interest had been perked.
(that’s right, I should also re-introduce my name, he probably forgot about it when he learned I was the devil’s daughter.) Elsie thought.
“Jack, Jack Dennis, it’s a pleasure to know you, princess.” Having watched the princess for a small bit, Jack could tell she was not a bad person and she could be trusted, so he relaxed and quit being so on edge.
How could he tell that she wasn’t a bad person by just observing her for a small period? He was naturally good at evaluating people, that’s how he had made it through lots of dangerous situations.
“Elsie Santina Velnias, it good to know you too, Jack.” She introduced herself for the second time with a bright smile. A smile that made Jack completely forget the intense danger he was in, even if just for a couple of seconds.
It also showed him another side of the girl who was crying at his feet just a couple of minutes ago. She was now acting like a normal girl.
After this brief exchange, they continued their way to the exit of the Palace.
