[This chapter is dedicated to Tina_Atitsogbui. Love and kiss from Jess and Noah. Thank you for reading!]
—
Noah held Jess under his arm through the night while he kept watch. He couldn't sleep as he still can't get over the possibility that she could be taken away from her. The lights of the city were dancing on the sliding glass door of her bedroom balcony. He chuckled to himself, he remembered Jess begging to have the lights turned off but he didn't bulge. He needed to see her in the blaring lights. To assure himself that she's here with him. Safe and thoroughly fucked. He snickered but stopped hastily as Jess mumbled on her sleep, curling herself to his side.
He pulled the blanket up to her neck because she seemed to be cold. He pressed a kiss on top of her head, murmuring, "I love you, Jess." He smiled when Jess grunted in her sleep as if in reply. Rubbing her back, he closed his eyes. It's already four-thirty eight. He hoped that the morning wouldn't come because he wanted to stay like this longer. He doesn't want to leave her ever again. He exhaled a soft sigh of frustration. He had to go back to Berlin. The shareholders' annual meeting hadn't even started but he was already swarming with work to the point that Antonio could no longer reprimand him for he had no time to check on him.
Lucille was with him but he hasn't seen her since they landed and brought to his grandfather's estate. She chose to stay with her Opa and he sent Soraya and Jin with her to take care of her.
While Jess was alone here, with no one but her security that was tailing her. Guilt overwhelmed him and greedy thoughts entered his mind. There are thousands of ways that he could do to keep Jess next to him but those ways were something that she would never agree on. Thus, he kept his mouth shut and wished to god that her security would always do a good job of keeping her safe while he's away.
His arms curved to gather her closer as if she wasn't close enough to him. The only thing that stopped him from squeezing her to his side was the thought that he would wake her up. According to the report that he got from Ellise, Jess walked to the park and fell asleep under a tree. The area was a bit isolated, hence, those hobos were able to get to her. Ellise assured her that Jess wasn't harmed in any way but Marie - Jess close in security also informed him that Jess washed and scrubbed her arms and legs until they became red inside the bathroom stall of the coffee shop where Stefan brought them.
Stefan - the other reason for keeping him awake. Marie informed him that Ellise released an order to have Stefan investigated. He understands where Ellise's paranoia is coming from but Stefan is his cousin and he had been following him around to even think of him to do something that would put Jess in harm. Stefan couldn't swat a flying bug even if it was already right on his face. But he didn't say anything about Ellise's order. He respected her when it comes to keeping Jess safe.
He wanted to talk to Stefan but Marie relied on Ellise's order for him to not engage Stefan in any form of talk about Jess. And that's what he's going to do even though he was itching to ask him.
He wasn't planning to sleep but with Jess' warmth next to him, her soft snoring and gentle breathing, lulled his tired body and brain to sleep that when he woke up, a breakfast tray was on bed. Jess was wearing a white satin slip-on, clinging to her skin. He wanted to rip the sleepwear from clinging to her skin as if it owned her.
"Good morning, baby." He crooned in a hoarse voice, heavy with sleep.
"Good morning. I have to be in the lab today." She informed him, handing him the steaming cup of black coffee.
"You must be in the lab today but you served me breakfast in bed, wearing such a dress that I want to tear away from your body."
The heat of his gaze still laded with sleep and the thickness of his voice as he surveyed her from the rim of the coffee mug, made Jess's toes curl and she was thinking of pulling her dress off her body and crawled in the bed with him. But then, she's truly needed at the lab.
"I-i…" She couldn't think of a come back to what Noah said. She asked herself too, why she scurried hastily from his side as soon as she woke up and prepared breakfast for him, putting on a seductive dress, even dabbing her favorite perfume behind her ears before she carried Noah's breakfast to her bed.
"My plane won't fly back until 2pm. Can I stay with you until then?"
Jess nodded. She saw the time at the kitchen wall clock. The time was only quarter to seven. They still had plenty of time to eat breakfast before Noah had to leave.
She watched Noah, devoured the egg benedict that she cooked to perfection and her toasted bread as well. She washed some grapes and threw them in the ceramic bowl and put them all in the breakfast tray together with the two steaming cups of black coffee–one for her and one for him.
"How are you?" He asked, popping a grape in his mouth, crunching the fresh fruit and sucked its juices noisily.
Jess swallowed hard, watching the way Noah ate grapes and the noises he made every time he sucked the grape juices reminded her of the other things he lovingly sucked last night until the last drop of juices–her juices.. She chewed on her lower lip before she put down her cup of coffee and opened her mouth to Noah. She wanted some grapes too!
