"Huh? What's going on?" A prisoner lamented, turning around to see himself along with several other prisoners standing on a large grassland.

"Is this heaven?!" Another yelled.

"Weren't we supposed to be dead by now?" A third prisoner asked.

"Maybe if you shut up... something will happen," A fourth prisoner suggested.

"Why don't you make me.... huh?" The third prisoner stumped towards the fourth prisoner.

" Maybe I will!!... Once we meet again in the next life...," The fourth prisoner confirmed and silence followed right after between the two.

"Pfft!!.....haha!!"

The two prisoners began to laugh, hugging each other with tears coursing down their cheeks profusely.

"Maybe this is what happens before we become reincarnated," Another prisoner chimed in.

"You might be right," The fourth prisoner remarked

"Well, I hope I become reincarnated as a handsome young master sharing the same name as mine," The third prisoner sniveled.

Everyone knows about reincarnation. They've been rumors of few people being able to recall their memories of their previous lives.

The chances of this occurring for everyone are pretty slim.

"Well, as for me, I would like to be reincarnated as a princess with a beautiful face," The fourth prisoner chuckled meekly.

"Brother," Another prisoner walked towards him, patting his shoulder.

"That's disgusting. Sometimes, your fetishes disgust me and I respect that," The prisoner's face looked genuinely disgusted.

" Hey! It's a free world brother," The fourth prisoner shrugged indifferently.

....

While he was listening to what the men were saying, White bat couldn't help but laugh.  "Haha..... I hope we meet again in the next life as well but this time on better terms,"  White Bat turned towards Ace.

He won't have the chance to see his family again but he had made sure that everyone had enough to survive even when he wasn't around.

"Don't die this time around old man," Ace muttered softly.

White bat acted as though he didn't hear what Ace said. He turned around and asked Ace what he said but Ace simply shrugged as he smiled while giving a response.

" I said the feeling is mutual," Ace chuckled.

White bat smiled. He was blind and had a keen sense of smell and hearing. If Ace didn't want to repeat it, he wouldn't bother him too much.

During his first life, Ace wasn't really strong. He always sought the easiest way to progress into the next stage of the game.

He never really had a serious battle on his own when playing the game. He would have been killed much earlier in the game if not for his master's training.

Ace had a lot of respect for his master and his combat training and battle experience improved a lot during their time together in the game.

Sadly, his master died while trying to protect him.

With this in mind, it was only expected for Ace to mutter a few words to his master because this time, he would do his best to not be a burden to his master once again.

.....

The bustling chatter of all the inmates continued. At first, few were amazed by how they could understand the language of their fellow inmates seeing as how they all came from different parts of the Earth, but little did they know that this was just a speck of what their summoners could do.

"Anytime now," Ace composed himself.

And just like that, a large holographic image of a man appeared before the eighty thousand inmates standing on the grassland.

The man wore a green majestic robe with intricate designs of various phoenixes and dragons adorning it. His pointy ears had a keen resemblance to that of an elf while part of his skin was covered in dragon scales, glowing in varying colors.

[Humans!!] The man said in a deep husky voice.

[I am General Zhong. I am from a proud race known as the Celestial Elves. For millenniums, we've reigned supreme as the destroyer of worlds and conquerors of the universe. Now we are bored and deserving of a means of entertainment.  Every one hundred years, we select a few worlds from across the universe to participate in a game called 'Surviving Online,']

[You all have been selected and teleported here to this virtual world to partake in a game specifically aimed at criminals on a d.e.a.t.h row. Your objective is to complete all the quests to obtain The Obsidian Key. The .....]

"Huh? So it's a game ?!" One of the prisoners asked while interrupting the General. He sounded disappointed.

"Well, I should have guessed as much. After all, the word 'Logging in' appeared right after we wore the helmet," Another prisoner replied, nudging his glasses.

"So this isn't heaven?!" The third prisoner asked. He was excited about the idea of coming to heaven before being reincarnated into one of his reincarnation candidates.

"Man!! You had my hopes up when you said we were in heaven earlier. I thought I would be reincarnated," The fourth prisoner appeared depressed...

"Same here," The third prisoner hung his head in disappointment.

Another prisoner rebuked. "There's no way I'm gonna contest in some online game that's got no advertisement or promos before now,"

"Aside from that, why do we have to participate in this game? What's in it for us?!" Another prisoner yelled leading to the murmuring of various other prisoners in the background.

Though General Zhong was interrupted earlier, still he remained reticent and allowed the humans to do as they pleased.

The question asked by the last prisoner made everyone quiet and General Zhong continued. [Rather than dying in your world, you all have been offered a second chance to redeem yourself, courtesy of your world leaders. You have been summoned here to aim for the ultimate prize.  'The obsidian key'. This key is capable of granting the wish of the champion.]

[ Memories of you all have been wiped off from the minds of the denizens of your world. Winning the game will not only provide you with a chance to start over with a clean slate as you return to your world but you'll also be rewarded with a two hundred million dollar amount sent directly into your account. This will of course be added to the money earned while you were in the game.]

With those words alone, ears were raised and heads were certainly turned. All inmates suddenly had a flame of curiosity burning within them. They stared into each other's eyes chuckling at each other.

After all, General Zhong had made mention of two hundred million dollars. Who wouldn't want to participate with that amount of money on the line?

"Really? That's sweet!!" One of the prisoners rejoiced.

"Sweet? It isn't just sweet. It's amazing,"

"Well you should have mentioned this sooner," Another prisoner said, running his hand through his ruffled hair. "Of course, I'll be glad to take part in this game,"
