The fragrance of oriental cologne covered him in an invisible warmth yet sweet smear. Kai could just know with one sniff. He stood closer than a man would normally.
‘Is he crazy or something?’ Kai’s mind was as confused as his face.
“Let go of me!” Kai struggled a bit to get out of Cole’s grip and with a strike of one push he did.
“What is wrong with you?!” Kai sighed, settling his hair. “Listen!” Kai stepped forward, staring at Cole’s face, “Let’s stay away from each other and never meet again.”
Cole just stood there staring at Kai’s face without uttering a word. Kai found that weird but what could he possibly do? All of sudden his phone rang and a girl’s voice filled his ears.
“Hey baby, I’ll be right there.” He smiled, uttering those words. While Cole stood there without taking his eyes off of Kai.
Kai gave him a confused look before leaving the restroom. He went straight to see his girlfriend at the cafe. Forgetting everything that just happened. Without thinking much of it, he spent the rest of his free time with his girlfriend.
“Sir, Are you feeling okay?” Aria, Cole’s assistant, seemed worried seeing her boss staring into empty spaces with an upset face.
“Huh?!” Cole was suddenly brought back to reality. “Yeah, I’m fine. What were you saying?” Quickly adjusting his posture.
“I have drafted out all the odds we may suffer from the Crystal Manors exhibition next month. Miss. Keira is already backing out. But we do need her pieces for the show. Tickets are already out. Here is the data I got from the financial and exhibitory team. This one right here is the management team's concerns. They would like you to review these as soon as possible.” Aria proceeded with her knowledge and left the room after doing her job.
Cole looked at the files and sighed. Throwing them on the table. He stared down the window of his office. The city seemed in rush and hazel. He couldn’t get Kai out of his head. How can someone be so different at one moment and another?
The knock on the door took his thoughts away.
“Sir, Here.” Peter took out some pictures and put them on Cole’s table. His eyes showed the pure shock someone could ever expect. He seems to be in disbelief.
“What’s going on?” Cole asked Peter.
“He earns money from this,” Peter uttered and Cole sighed. Putting the pictures down.
“Nothing about the family yet?” Cole asked, racing his brows.
“No, Sir. There are theories from the co-workers but they are just assumed. The family doesn’t seem to get the word out since his mother died.” Peter explained. Cole kept looking at the pictures without asking any further.
“Sir, May I?” Peter felt uncomfortable but he just wanted to let it out.
“What?” Cole blankly stared at him.
“I don’t think this would be the best approach. Why not just go and ask directly?” He foolishly let out. Cole's face changed from calm to dark cold in a rush of seconds.
“Who is the boss here? You or me?” Cole almost shouted at him even knowing that Peter might be making much more sense than him stalking. “I make decisions here. Go back to your work.” Cole looked away and Peter left.
The cheering and hooting continued as Kai entered the ring. People are making bets on him. Every drugie and drunkard went to enjoy the Thursday night fights.
“Bro! Be sure to beat the shit out of that pumpkin head. I have a lot of money on you today! Don’t let me down!” Jay gave Kai a toothy smile, massaging his muscles, and staring at the opponent.
“Depends. What do you think he will offer? Can you make up to that much?” Kai smirked, glancing at the rich man standing at the stall above with two girls around him.
Jay’s smile suddenly vanished. “Again?” He sighed, annoyed.
“I’ll wait,” Kai said before patting Jay’s shoulder and entering the center of the ring. Both the fighters faced each other, and the referee stood beside them.
“Fucking hell!!” Jay panicked. He knew Kai wouldn’t even try to defend himself as long as he knows the side that pays more. “Okay!! Let’s make more money!” Jay started to take more bets on Kai but his playing stupid in the ring wasn’t helping.
“Stop flexing your muscles! No use, kid!” The opponent fighter knew how to push someone to the edge where they would fight back.
“Why not keep your mouth shut and get it done with?” Kai raised his brows.

The opponent laughed, “I’ll kill the shit out of you today!”
“I don’t think he hired you for that,” Kai smirked, raising his brow at the rich man standing above the stall.
The opponent growled knowing Kai was right and he is not allowed to kill Kai. Just somewhat for minor injuries and nothing serious but every time he sees Kai’s face, hearing from people how strong he is. He never lost to anyone.
This guy just wanted to shut down all those rumors about Kai and make his name shine in the world of underground fighters.
Both of them got in the position. The opponent kept shoving the blows into Kai's face and his stomach. Kai kept taking those like nothing. While Jay struggled to keep his bets on Kai as people were getting uninterested when he didn’t fight back.
With another blow, Kai fell on his back. His elbows rested on the ground, carrying his body weight as he tried to stand back up.
“Didn’t your dead bitch mother feed you enough? Were you deprived of your mother’s milk?” The opponent kept mocking him. Pressing his buttons hard. He bent down slightly, “I’m sure it would have been sweeter, just like your pretty face, ain’t it?” He giggled, attempting to touch Kai’s face.
Before he could even get to a single strand of Kai’s hair. A storm went through his throat, instantly making him fall on his back and cough out the blood.
Kai stood up, the crowd got quiet down. “Let’s shush you down. I don’t like it when people talk about my mom.” He flashed a smile at the opponent and it vanished as soon as it appeared, making him look like a freak.
“You son of a bitch! Fucking Psycho!!” The opponent tried to shout curses at him but his voice struggled to get out of his throat.
“You damn right, I am!” Kai growled, resting on his stomach. Bending his knees on the ground and continuously struck the blows up his face until he completely passed out.
If it wasn’t for the referee, he might have killed the guy in the ring.
The rich man looked at Kai with disgust, shaking his head. Throwing his glass down, he turned around and left in anger.
Kai breathed heavily, the whole crowd was cheerful enough to keep shouting his name without wasting a single second. Kai looked at Jay who seemed twice more excited than the crowd.
“It better be worth it!” Kai sighed, walking towards Jay. “How much?” He asked, directly even before clearing up his wounds.
“Enough to get me a year full of food!” All Jay could ever think about is things like food, girls, and clubbings.
Kai playfully, smacked Jay’s head, snatching the money from him, “You stupid!”
He counted and thankfully, it was worth more than he was being offered to get beaten up. He took out some and gave it to Jay.
“Just this much! I put all my sweat and tears to leach this much off the peop….” Before he could complete his nonsense, a death stare from Kai got him nervous, “I mean it's probably more than enough for a guy who spends as little as me. You are the best!” He showed thumbs up, saving his life.
“Put this on my back!” Kai gave Jay an ointment to put on the wounds he can’t see. Suddenly his phone rang.
“Eddie, brother!” Kai sounded cheerful. But his smile vanished in a few seconds, “I’ll be right there!”
“Where are you going?” Jay was confused to see Kai panic all of sudden.
“Eddie’s in trouble. Gotta go! Take my stuff back to my room!” Kai shouted, rushing to his bike.
“But how the fuck am I supposed to go back to dorms. You freaking dumbass!” Jay grunted, rolling his eyes.
Kai soon arrived at the tattoo shop. As soon as he entered, he couldn’t believe his eyes, the whole shop was broken and stuff was all over the place.
“Eddie!” Kai shouted and Eddie came out, holding a broom in his hand. His blue eye and the busted lip were enough to make Kai lose his mind.
“Who the fuck did this to you?” Kai took Eddie as his big brother since his real brother doesn’t give a fuck about him at all. The day Eddie went against all the odds to help Kai get out of his father’s dependency. Was the same day Kai became fond of Eddie, enough to consider him his whole and only family.
