"Disgusting..." Soren thought as he feasted upon, stale moldy bread, and mushy bruised apples. It had been three months, since he gained the curse, though nothing significant had happened, unless you count Holy Knights, chasing him, or the occasional thieves trying to steal his stuff.
The curse significantly increased his physical capabilities, allowing him to escape from people easily. Though he hasn't been able to figure out what the other abilities do. And, that weird voice had stopped bothering him, at least for now.
After three whole months, it seems his tears had finally dried up, his emotions slowly fading away. He can't tell if it's his curse doing that, or just him losing interest in his emotions since he is treated like he has none. Anyone who has seen him, looks at him with fear, doing whatever they can to get away from him.
Why do they look at him that way? He hates it, so he tries to avoid looking at anyone.
He had stopped wondering how his ex-family was doing since the second month passed, as there is no point in worrying about them since they don't care about him anymore. He has seen his elder brother once, though he seemed perfectly happy, unlike when Soren was abandoned.
After he finished eating his joke of a dinner, he found a nice hole, in one of the deep dark corners of the many alleyways in the village. He crept into that hole, the cold soil giving him goosebumps as he lay down inside. "Is there a way to get rid of this curse?" Soren thought, as his tired eyes, grew heavy, falling into a deep sleep.
"Awake young one..." An ominous voice boomed, forcing Soren to open his eyes, to see a large, jet-black snake staring at him. It was quite a beautiful snake; her black scales had a beautiful shine to them, complementing her jade-green eyes.
"Who are you?" Soren asked, backing up, though realizing it was futile as he looked around to see nothing, but an abyss of darkness. Yeah, he was definitely trapped.
"Worry not little one, I am not going to kill you... at least, not yet." The large snake said in a playful tone, slithering closer to Soren. The snake was able to talk to him through telepathy, a type of magic that is quite rare.
"Mmm... How intriguing..." the serpent said, peering into Soren's eyes.
"I-Intriguing how..?" Soren said, feeling anxious from the immense magical power the serpent was emitting from her body.
"It seems your emotions aren't as fierce as the other ones..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"When a human is under the effects of the Forsaken Mark, their emotions grow stronger, though it seems it is having the opposite effect on you."
"Is that a bad thing?" Soren asked, staring at the black serpent.
"Hmm... That question is quite difficult to answer... Usually, you would eventually go insane by the constant increase in the intensity of emotions, though since you are slowly losing yours, you might be able to control the curse." The serpent explained as she slithered around Soren.
"How could I control it?"
"Well, you have shown some potential, as you are able to withstand my magical pressure. I will explain it to you, so listen carefully." The serpent said, laughing ominously.
Soren nodded his head, ready to burn the information into his mind.
"This curse, is basically a prison, for myself, and the idiot... It manifests on humans at random and jumps hosts each time they die."
"It requires the host to possess a large pool of mana, though if theirs is insufficient, it will use their life force instead, to hold us in."
"If you are able to increase your mana pool to the required amount, it will slow down the loss of your emotions, and stop the draining of your life force. We will also be able to slowly lend you some of our strength."

"Once we are able to share all of our power with you, then you will have complete mastery over it, stopping the loss of your emotions."
"Though, the initial raising of the mana pool is the hardest, as it will be near impossible to find a magic instructor to help you; leaving you to your own devices. That is where most hosts fail."
"But since you are able to withstand my pressure, I can instruct you myself."
From what the serpent had explained, Soren's hopes rose, as there was a chance that he could control the curse, stopping his emotions and life force from being sapped away, leading to his demise.
"I see... I will accept your offer." Soren said, staring at the snake, with his usual emotionless face.
"Hohohoho... So eager... I must let you know little one, that there is never an offer that comes without a price." The serpent laughed mischievously.
"What do you want?" Soren asked.
"Oh, your no fun... I was expecting you to be angry at me..."
"Firstly, I am in charge, my words are above that idiots... Secondly, If I request to take over your body, then you will allow me to do so, though don't worry too much, as I won't do anything to kill you, as you are quite useful."
Soren nodded, as it was a fair deal. He is sharing his body with these beings, and they are letting him live when they could easily kill him off, and move on to the next host. Though it isn't the best deal, Soren would take it, if it meant he could survive.
"And again, I must emphasize the request I made, my orders are higher than that idiots. If you solely listen to him, he may end up sending you to fight some strong opponent, which would end up leading to your death"
"I understand. What should I call you?" Soren asked, his head tilting to the side.
"Mmm, what about auntie?"
"No."
" Oh my... You won't let me have any fun, will you... I am known as Ulras. I will let the idiot introduce himself when the time comes, though I hope you never have to meet him."
"I am Soren, I look forward to our training Ulras." Soren said, a slight smirk appearing on his face.
"I feel the same little one. My time is up, so wake up now." Ulras said as she slithered off into the darkness; Soren's vision fading as he was waking up.
