Reducing the carriage to smithereens, I roll in the ground to reduce the impact. Some wooden splinters are pricking my skin, but I’ll manage. It is good enough I was able to protect my eyes.
Purple mist is surrounding me, but that did too little to hinder my vision. At times like this, my Ki sensing is at its peak.
I notice the destroyed carriage fixing itself like lego, as if my magic didn’t even touch it, the carriage remains pristine and unharmed. This is the first time my singularity magic is meeting its match.
From my breast pocket, a familiar bird is peeking, it was Le. “Thank you, you stupid bird.”
It is thanks to Le that I was able to learn the true nature of ‘Merleona’. It is impressive how Sabrina Crook can use clones like that. I didn’t even notice the difference.
Le as an anti-bird was able to detect and discern things relating to mana as such, allowing it the best mana perception. “Be careful, a lot of clones are surrounding us.”
Powerful shrill echoes in my ears, “A-ack,” I kneel in pain and surprise.
Sabrina’s voice carries to my ears as if she were just beside me. “Merleona, that lass really did peek on your crotch, you know? It was a funny sight. Hey, hey, hey, Aaron… Tell me, how did you know it wasn’t Merleona back in the carriage?”
I defiantly raise my mana carefully holding it inside me. “As if I will tell you.”
Le warns me with a serious tone. “You stupid human, don’t raise your mana. You have too little, you won’t even be able to create enough pressure. You are just wasting your stamina both mind and body. Just rely on your Ki sensing for now, and then counter at the critical moment!”
Yes, coach. I’d love to argue, but Le has a point.
Chains unearth themselves from where I stand. Like snakes, the chains immobilize me in a snake-like constriction. I hear depraved laughter in front of me. The same carriage I was riding a while ago is now heading towards me. Forget a normal carriage, it was a freaking haunted carriage without a horse.
I cast my “Dot of Singularity” to the chains freeing myself once more. Barely dodging the carriage by rolling, I survive once more. My mana is now nearing half. The weakness of [Dot of Singularity] is becoming more evident.
As a magic that destroys space, exaggerates emptiness, and negates concepts— my [Dot of Singularity] can only target what is together and connected, it is a magic that specializes in ending an individual.
For example, if I were to use [Dot of Singularity] to a rampaging storm, I can possibly destroy that storm with just one magic. However, if I were to use this magic on a colony of ants, I’d have to use it multiple times as there are too many individuals in a colony.

A more recent example is the chains that my magic destroyed a while ago. An excellent Magic Knight would use magic that would allow them to extricate themselves from the chains and at the same time hinder the rushing carriage— specifically, it can be movement-based magic or just a blast of area-of-effect magic.
Clearly, I cannot do either of those. I neither can cast movement-based magic nor area-of-effect magic. The magic attribute ‘singularity’ is meeting its limitations at this moment.
What is most troubling is the magic attributes of my foe. I don’t know the trick as to how Sabrina is using multiple magic attributes at once. The chains, ghosts, mist, clones… Clearly, those magic were of different attributes.
Pouring more salt into my wounds, a stream of fire rushes from my rear. It is a mystery how one person can have more than one attribute. I barely dodge it by rolling once more. I am thinking that it might be copy magic, but I cannot be sure yet. For me to learn what it is, I’d have to confront the mage herself face to face.
“Sabrina!” I shout to the purple mist her name, “Come out and face me, you coward!”
Answering my provocation is the ghost carriage’s laughter. A stream of water rushes at me from my flank. I tilt my body backward effectively dodging it. Sadly, it wasn’t effective enough. With a splatter of water on my chest to my legs, ice elements then rush at me.
Immobilizing me with ice, then attacking me with the carriage is a brilliant move. But I won’t go down that easily. “Singularity Divide.” I simultaneously cast the magic to my two index fingers. Moving my wrists in a crazed manner, I slash the carriage to pieces.
I don’t know much about Sabrina, so I cannot use my words to affect her emotions. Even during the exams, I barely hear things about her from my fellow applicants. I struggle to move, but with enough shaking, I extricate myself from the ice.
I am starting to see the full picture. I wasn’t intending for things to go like this, but it is similar enough to the picture I desire. I was hoping that with my stunt in the arena, I’d be able to arouse suspicion of Sabrina even at the price of going to prison.
Now, the ending was a bit different but still ultimately similar. After doing my stunt, the captains decide to hold me in detention while investigating both Sabrina and me. Though I am in grave danger right now, it is a fact that the outcome of my little stunt is better than what I was expecting.
This is reflecting the ambush I am facing right now.
It looks like Sabrina doesn’t want me to attend the parliament. This is where I should start poking. “Sabrina Crook, looks like you are being driven in the corner. Which of the two of us will emerge victorious? If you fail to kill me any time soon, the Magic Knights of the kingdom might just arrive any minute now. Also, we cannot have the Magic Parliament waiting for us, right?”
Sabrina Crook finally reveals herself to me. From the purple mist, Sabrina walks to me without any care for her own safety. Stopping just 3 meters before me, Sabrina heightens her mana creating a pressure that heavily weighs on my shoulder. “Your father did incredibly well in causing trouble for me, but you? You take the top.”
