Sabrina’s smile is never changing. Bewitching and flawless, with a warmhearted touch, she remains unsullied. All of this is an illusion though. I can tell.
I estimate my magic to be about half since my second attribute’s awakening. I can cast [Dot of Singularity] about two more times and maybe cast [Singularity Divide] about 5 seconds more.
If I want to survive this, I have to go all out. I reach deep inside me, and with a flick, I turn on my Machiavellian switch. “Greetings, I must say you are really a very hideous person. This dread I am feeling must be related to your magic attribute huh?”
“Soul Devouring.” Sabrina’s smile turns to a mischievous grin.
What? I cannot get my head to what she just did. “Is that your magic attribute?”
“Yes,” She plainly replies. “You don’t need to put effort into trying to trick me into revealing my abilities. I’ll just tell them, to you, honestly and without lies. Consider it a hand-in from a silver platter. That way, you will fall into deeper despair at the inevitability of your demise.”
Way to go. That works in my favor. Not that I like Sabrina’s psychological tactic, but still, it works to my advantage that I now know her magic attribute.
Hmmm… Soul Devouring attribute. If I remember correctly, this is the attribute of Rades Spirito, a member of Midnight Sun in the Black Clover anime. From what I can remember, this attribute allows its caster to imbue the soul of the dead into a corpse.
Just how in the world is Sabrina able to use other attributes then? The more baffling fact is, isn’t the Soul Devouring grimoire only have one page?
I have no time to think as Sabrina casts her magic once more. “Hundred Ghosts Parade!” She boastfully proclaims. An army of ghosts unearths themselves from the ground.
I can recognize this magic. This is Philip Jester’s magic, my so-called dad.
“Surprised?” Sabrina teases me of the sight being displayed in front of me. “Are you shocked to see your father’s own magic? The procedure of extracting this one particular page is difficult, but I managed. Aren’t I great?”
Just beside Sabrina’s floating Grimoire, I see a piece of paper also floating there— it was a torn page. “My grimoire is very peculiar. To only have one page means that I can only have one magic. It is intense, I tell you. No matter what I do, I’d remain a useless piece of shit who only knows one magic.”
Sabrina is quivering in ecstasy. “But that all changed. You see, I didn’t give up on just one page. Studying the intricacies of necromancy, I researched methods to strengthen my grimoire. These torn pages here are my masterpiece, each of them represents a dead mage! Each of them now a page to my own grimoire.”
As if she was playing a symphony, Sabrina waves her index fingers madly. All sorts of mana in different hues dance in the air. Heat, cold, chains, light, and dark!
With the army of ghosts between us, I can hardly make a move. I am a sitting duck to her magic. “I got too full of myself.” I close my eyes, helpless to my fate. It’s not like death is a big deal to me. Maybe by dying, the original story will never face the ‘threat’ I was fearing to happen.

“DoN’t give uP, FucKwAD!!” From my breast pocket, Le is screaming at the top of his birdy lungs. “Be a man! Be strong! Just like me! Don’t treat life so freaking easy. It is supposed to be hard, damn it!”
At this point, if I were like other protagonists, then Le’s words would be effectively stoking my ego right now, but… meh… I’d rather die already. I close my eyes in anticipation of my death.
Alas, the pain didn’t come. I open my eyes only to see a world of white. “Where am I?”
In a second or so, the white world then vanishes. I don’t see Sabrina anymore together with the purple mist. Instead, all I see are a field of grasses.
Le while gasping complains to me. “You fuckwad! I just exhausted the mana I have accumulated for the past hundred years!”
“You shouldn’t,” I tell the bird. “I think, dying would be the best option for me at that moment.” After all, my presence is what caused the changes to the ‘original story’ I greatly revere.
Le pecks my forehead with anger. “Do you hear yourself? Do you think that makes sense? Fuck, I tried my hardest to survive the Dark Ages, and look what I have become, a freaking bird!”
“Fine,” I chastise the bird. “I might as well do what I was intending to do.”
Sabrina will definitely be chasing me madly on my tail, so I have to hurry. I didn’t even bother asking the bird as to how it can perform magic.
Le who seeks self-validation complains to me. “Aren’t you forgetting something? I just saved you with my great magic. Aren’t you even one bit curious?”
“No,” I shut Le down with a word. “Hmmm… Where is the parliament again?” I don’t even know where I am right now. “Hey, stupid bird, where are we right now?”
Le perches on my head. “Don’t call me stupid, stupid human! I don’t even know where we are. Tsk, why don’t you go find where we are now?”
What a demanding bird!? We only know each other for a day. Yet Le is getting too comfortable with me already. “Be careful of what you say, your just an emergency ration to me, stupid bird.”
“I am a super bird! SUPER BIRD!” Le defends his honor with vigor.
Ha! I will be hearing none of it, you lovely stupid bird.
