Chapter 42: CHAPTER 42 STRONGEST WOMAN

Sneaking into the Silva residence is not that difficult considering my ability to sense Ki.

I enter Acier's room without anyone even noticing. Her ailing form and sickly appearance are quite a sight. Looks like she is deeply asleep. I feel a couple of presence approaching Acier’s room. Judging by their Ki, they possess quite an enormous amount of vigor.

I silence my own presence and hide on the terrace, just by the edge of the terrace, I hang myself using my sheer tenacity and grip strength. It is the height of the sun yet my stealth skills don’t falter. One of the good things that come from having low mana is this.

Mereoleona hurriedly visits the Silva residence. After learning of Acier’s situation, Mereoleona quickly made her way to the manor where Acier is currently resting.

In the outskirts absent of the noisy city atmosphere, Mereoleona sees the humble manor where Acier is resting. “Let’s go, Fuegoleon.” She calls to her younger brother.

Fuegoleon worries for his big sister greatly. That is why he voluntarily takes it to himself to accompany her in this visit. “Big sister, she will be fine.”

Mereoleona is not her usual self. Fuegoleon can tell, because if it were the usual Mereoleona, she’d be casually bickering back with her annoying nagging.

Nozel is waiting by the door while carrying his younger sister in his arms. “Thank you for coming.” He greets the visitor in his dull voice. For a young man like him, this visit means so much to him and his mother.

Fuegoleon nods at Nozel as a casual greeting. Mereoleona ignores Nozel and just proceeds on her way. Nozel and Fuegoleon follow Mereoleona’s lead.

Gritting his teeth, Nozel painfully blames himself. “It is my fault.”

Though it was a whisper, Fuegoleon catches on his words. “Why is it your fault?” He asks, however Nozel just shakes his head in denial of what Fuegoleon heard.

Nozel explains. “You must’ve heard wrong.”

From Mereoleona and Fuegoleon’s perspective, Acier is sick because of giving birth, however that’s not really the truth. Nozel can still remember that horrible day. It was a life-and-death battle between a devil in a human’s skin and her mother… Nozel was helpless, and has no power. He had no choice but to watch his mother exhausting herself to death.

Finally, the fight ends in a high note. Taking hostage of Acier’s child, the devil then mercilessly curses Acier to a terrifying degree. Every day Acier gets weaker, Nozel was made to realize again and again how weak he is. Nozel witnesses this pain accumulating as he accompany his mother.

It is a painful sight to watch.

Coming to Acier’s room, Nozel walks ahead of Mereoleona, and then pushes the door open.

Nozel sees his ailing mother sleeping, but at the sound of the baby’s sudden crying, Acier immediately opens her eyes awake. “Shhh… Sleep, Noelle, you are disturbing mother.” Nozel tries to calm baby Noelle by gently swaying her in his arms.

Acier sees this adorable scene making her laugh. “Hweh~ so cute… Come here Nozel, let me have baby Noelle.” Nozel obediently gives up the baby.

Following behind Nozel, Mereoleona and Fuegoleon enter Acier’s bedroom.

Acier didn’t mind the two entering without introducing themselves unannounced. They are friends after all. Nozel respectfully leaves the room so that the Vermillion sibling can have a time alone with Acier.

When Nozel is finally gone, Mereoleona speaks her piece. “Nothing is stronger than a determined woman. That is what I learned the last time I visited you.” Mereoleona gazes at the flowers she initially brought when Acier was pregnant.

Put into a vase, the pink flowers are blossoming more vibrantly reminding Mereoleona of her wishes for Acier to get better. “Fuegoleon, leave.”

Fuegoleon tries to put a bit of resistance. “But, big sister…”

“Leave,” And as for what to expect of Mereoleona, she is persistent. “If you don’t scurry, I’ll clobber you.”

Fuegoleon without a word immediately scurries like a rat. Two Magic Knight Captains talking in private, this is seriously a big deal.

Mereoleona not leaving anything to chance, adds imperiously. “While you are it, bring Nozel far away. If I catch you eavesdropping, you are dead.”

After a couple of seconds of silence, Mereoleona raises her voice. “I acknowledge you, Acier Silva as the strongest mage! Because I cannot be the strongest mage, from henceforth, I shall strive to become the strongest woman!” She proclaims.

Acier is surprised, too much that she starts blushing. “This is embarrassing, I am not even the strongest mage. I cannot even compare to the Wizard King. Ara, ara~”

Mereoleona is adamant on her beliefs. “No, give it another decade, no, just a year and you’ll surpass even the current Wizard King. Among humanity, you are definitely the strongest. I saw you fight, I saw you win, and I saw you evolve! You are my role model.” While the fanaticism in Mereoleona’s eyes are burning hot, not a single word of hers is a lie.

Full of passion, Mereoleona confesses her feelings to Acier. “I love you, Acier, so please, get healed, recover, and rise once more. I don’t believe any of the rumors that you are dying, that you are getting weak. You are not someone who’d just kick the bucket because of her third childbirth, right? You are the strongest mage after all!”

That’s it. I cannot take it anymore.

I was hanging my arms by the edge of the veranda with my hardest. I am just mediocre when it comes to muscle endurance, but my tolerance is something very commendable.

With my tolerance to pain, I can hang up here in the veranda as long as an hour if I push myself to the max. This tolerance of pain is something that I am greatly proud of.

However.. however… damn it!
My tolerance to laughing is nearly zero.
“Ha. Haha. HAhahahahhAHHAHAHAhaHAH! Love? I love you too, Acier-chan~”

Mereoleona immediately finds me thanks to my annoying laughter, and then, she did me a suplex.
