“Kiiiieeeeee~” With a soundless roar, the wind swooshes in fury emulating the eagle’s cry. Destroying the boulder from the inside, a tornado expands in an explosive manner with the eagle as the epicenter.
“Wow,” I cannot help, but utter this exclamation. “That freaking bird just made a tornado while trapped in restraining magic.”
I have no time to wonder in awe as the angry lion takes a pounce at me. It literally was at the speed of sound. Thankfully, there is someone out there who in the nick of time was able to barely reach me.
Lotus with bloodshot eyes pounces on me before the lion. It was not that Lotus was faster than sound, but the guy was anticipating it all the time. This shows my lack of experience on the battlefield.
It is arguable because Lotus is also a new guy just like me, but he is from the Diamond Kingdom. As someone who comes from a place that values war experience, even a diamond recruit would know better when it comes to warring if compared to a clover recruit.
Lotus whose veins are pumping with adrenaline unleashes his magic with all his might. “Smoke Creation Magic: Bustling Lazy Vehicle.” Generating a shroud of smoke in the shape of a vehicle similar to a cart, Lotus jumps on it while carrying me like baggage.
The cart has four wheels with the rear wheels being larger than the front wheels. The body of the cart is spacious enough to comfortably fit five people. I see Diamond Mages scrambling on us. “What the?”
I was thinking that maybe they are that desperate to survive, but I had it all wrong. Most of the Diamond Mages tries to impede the rampaging lion whose speed was matchless.
In the blink of an eye, the lion was already in front of the smokey cart. Without showing any fear, one Diamond Mage throws himself at the lion. The lion just swipes at the poor guy causing him to fly hundreds of meters with blood splattering in the air.
It was a gruesome sight as a trench stretches to the dirt. Three other Diamond Mages were able to reach our cart. Joining the ride, these three mages then make a volley of the magic spells making sure to keep the lion in check.
The cart’s speed didn’t decrease, so I judge the addition of the three mages into the cart as an advantage.
Lotus who was busily controlling his magic vehicle looks at me and addresses me. Since my ears are still a bust, I cannot hear him. Thankfully, I am skillful enough in reading lips. With bits, I try to gather what Lotus was saying. “D..o…wh.at…yo.u…mu.s.t…”
I smile at lotus. I raise my Singularity Broom. Bringing it down, I cast another [Dot of Singularity], sending it via an invisible delivery express to a certain bird.
The lion shows despise at my act. It pounces once more, this time with a more explosive speed. I can even hear the sonic boom vibrating through my skin.
Lotus seems to have a plan already obvious to calm demeanor. “Smoke Magic: Hermit's Thick Smoke.” Releasing a smoke that turns the user and others around them invisible, the lions suddenly lose sight of us.
At that moment, the vehicle makes a hard turn barely dodging the lion’s pounce. This invisibility is strong enough to even hide us from captain-class sensors. Sadly, Lotus is not strong enough to maintain Hermit’s Thick Smoke while using his Bustling Lazy Vehicle.
It is also a suitable strategy if we rely solely on Hermit’s Thick Smoke. I believe if this invisibility is invincible enough, we can survive! But clearly, Lotus is not using it that way for some reason. I think the magic is not yet at the level of sustainability.

The lion continues to chase us with its monstrous speed. Lotus continues to use his Hermit’s Thick Smoke in intervals, while desperately dodging the pouncing lion. It is only a matter of time before Lotus loses all his mana.
This has become a rabbit chase.
The thing is, it is not just us who are the rabbits. “Dot of Singularity, Dot of Singularity, Dot of Singularity!” A reckless triple [Dot of Singularity] spreads in the sky.
The eagle has now become a rabbit just like us.
This time, luck is in my favor, multi-cast was able to activate two and three times to the last two Dots of Singularity. That means about an additional six (6) [Dot of Singularty]! I look at the sky through Ki sensing.
There are nine black dots falling onto the eagle-like snow! The eagle manages to weave through the black snow and even dispel them while at it.
This is unbelievable. At this point, aren’t they mythical beasts already?
The nature of my multi-cast has two options: one— (1) target casting where I expend half mana of the magic to cast the said magic multiple times, or two— (2) chance casting where I expend luck to cast magic multiple times in random numbers. Spending luck is a very dangerous matter, but I am all for it.
If I can, I’d rather not spend my luck, but if I don’t, I’d die…
Relying on chance casting will be the death of me, but I have to pull through.
Finally, Lotus cannot handle it anymore as his Bustling Lazy Vehicle crashes down to nothingness. He is huffing and puffing.
While rolling on the patch of grass, I strain my Ki sensing to the max. After gaining enough balance, I stand up immediately.
In front of me is the lion’s snout. A single swipe is all it will take, and I will be dead. Is this my end? I’d like to resist, but I am powerless. None of my magic will work on this guy.
Squandering all of my mana will be a fruitless errand that will just hasten my death.
In the face of despair where all hope is seemingly lost, what should I do?
