Chapter 34: Chapter 34 – Happy Ending? (1)

Bruh. Looks like due to me being feeling drunk on sickness, I have messed up the development in previous chapter that I was about to go for. Now this made me re-think of the future chapters so this was a bit late than usual.

But anyway, it can still be brought back to that line if I will give it a try but it might look a bit rushed. Sorry for that, but I might rewrite the first arc after I complete the first arc, that is the Darling in the FranXX world.

My health is still a bit bad. So there are chances of me going on a short break.

After that, everything blanked out.

"Huh?"

Zero Two woke up and looked around to see herself sitting in the same enclosed room which she spent her childhood in with her love, her Darling, Zero Three or Omega.

<Why am I here>

An unknown set of memories entered her mind as she found herself sitting by Ryo and her own childhood body.

<I did not know why I was there. It was not where I was meant to be. I hated it. I hated it from my heart. I hated how I had to the doctors or what they called themselves, the 'Adults' looked at me and do things to me.>

<I though that if this continued, I would go crazy and go berserk. It was getting harder and harder. If that place was not the hell itself, it was the closest thing to it. That was what would have happened if I haven't met her.>

<Zero Two... That was her name.>

<When I first met her, I was fascinated by her emerald clear eyes. They were like shining stars in the dark sky, shining brightly with determination even in such a situation, showing resistance to what both what we were going though. Her body was thin and weak but her determination was stronger that I had ever seen.>

<It attracted me. It made me think if someone as weak as her could hold such a determination, how could I not? It made me awaken. Making me feel more determined to pass through the nightmare, if I can name it.>

<Days passed as our bonds increased and we started to care for each other. Although I didn't wanted to develop too deep, I knew that we were meant to be together, but I tried to resist it afterall, I had someone I already used to love someone, which I can't overcome.>

'...Someone else who Ryo used to care for...? Who is it? Is it 'Mama' our care-taker?'

Zero Two though as she absorbed the memories. For the first time in her life, she felt an unknown crisis.

<Then the next day, we met what we could call a stand-in for a mother. Her eyes looked at us with pity and care. Making me think why she felt that way. She bought us food.>

<After a few months, I discovered that I was able to understand what the codes and language that the people, or 'Adults' used. It was astonishing for me. Later that day, I learnt that the 'Adult' taking care for us was called Stella.>

<I was getting used to this lifestyle util that day.>

<That day, was the first time that she bough something else than food. It was a book, more specifically a story book.>

<The book had various pictures and words written over it which told a story about the love between two birds.>

<The book told a story of two birds falling in love in a fantasy world. These two birds were actually caged when they met. They were the pets of a magician who was one of the strongest magicians out in the world. As they fell in love and longed for a free life, they pled to the magician, who after some thought, agreed to free them if they were able to pass the situations that they will face in the magician's illusion and still be in love, he will free them.>

<The birds agreed to the magician, and as agreed, the magician made them go through three situations that tested their bonds and love. The birds went through a lot of ups and downs but in the end, they both passed with flying colors. This made the magician look at their bond in awe. He congratulated them and set them free.>

<But that was not the end, in the end, he even transformed the two love birds into humans so they won't be captured again. This concluded the happy ending as the human-turned-birds happily lived ever after.>

<That was the last day we saw Stella. Although I did feel a bit sad, Zero Two's presence made me push past it easily.>

'So it was not 'Mama'... Who is the one Ryo used to care about?'

<Zero Two had become my pillar of support as I she become someone who I cared deeply from my heart. Her presence started to make my day better.>

<Then after a few years, we were given more freedom as we were acting loyal to the 'Adults' and then we met our instructors and the other members of the Team Ten-s, which was formed in the future.>

<I showed a bit of my abilities and as I attracted the attention of Franxx, I started to exchange knowledge and learn more about the physiology of Klaxosaurs and try find ways to make both mine and Zero Two's Bloodline more powerful.>

'What is a... Bloodline?'

<I have already planned for what there is to come but I do not know what will come after everything ends? What will happen? I didn't knew anything about it, but there was one think that I was sure of. I will become the strongest person, so strong that I won't be threatened by anyone and used by people.>

<But the my feelings regarding forming a family is quite counter-effective to my goal. I do not know how but I have made it my goal and I have been provided with the new start, I wanted to start anew. So I will just have to become the strongest so that there will be no one threatening me and my loved one.>

<No one. No APEs. No VIRMs. No one will ever get in my way. I have promised myself.>

'Who are the... VIRMs?'

<This made me a bit over-protective of Zero Two. I do not want any harm to come in her way. Then after a incident, I learnt I was just restricting her growth. Making me learn of my mistake. We continued to grow older as our bond increased, making me think...>

<If we look at the situation will I be able to see the Happy Ending that I desperately want to achieve?>

'... I don't know why, but truth hurts doesn't it? Will Darling tell me who he used to 'love'? When did it started... I know that Darling will not hurt me intentionally... but I want to learn about the truth... Who is 'She'?'

Ryo awoke and observed his room as he felt a bit of headache. He looked around to find that he was sitting in the same room in which he spent his childhood with Zero Two. Just by his side was his old version trying to talk to Zero Two.

"Hgn."

Suddenly an large influx of memories started to pour directly into to his mind, making him groan for a second as he emersed himself into the memories.

<Who am I?>

<The entirety of my childhood was spend in an enclosed room. It was suffocating. I had older memories but I had forgotten about them as they were of no importance to me.>

<His actions made me feel touched. He made me feel happy. And more importantly... He made me feel alive.>

<He cared for me and I cared for him. His dull yet shiny purple eyes made me feel peaceful. They made my body feel relaxed as I was in embrace of what the stories termed as 'Mother'. It was a soothing feeling.>

<I started to depend on him. Slowly but surely he became the entirety of my life. I knew it that we were meant to be together.>

<As the time passed, he started to teach me things that made me feel amazed. I did not knew where he get the knowledge from at that time, but what I knew was that he was amazing.>

<Then we met what we can call a stand-in for our 'mother'. She looked old. Her white hair and gentle eyes made me feel warmth.>

<She bought us food whenever I was hungry and toys whenever I destroy most of them in anger.>

<Sadly those happy days didn't lasted long. One day, she bought a book named 'Love Birds'. As soon as she flipped the page, a whole new world opened for me. It was full of pictures and vivid images.>

<It was beautiful. Both the picture as well as story.>

<It made me realize. If 'mother' bought this to us... doesn't this mean that she was showing that the story was related to us...?>

<Both I and Ryo are trapped in a 'Bird Cage'. And we just have to pass through the trials of the 'Papa-s', the wizards to become free.>

<It took me a few years to realize but as soon as I realized that... I knew that both Ryo and I were destined to be together.>

'Wait... Destined... *Deep Breath *. Now that I think about it... Damn! I don't know how I didn't realized it any time sooner! Was it... DIO's work? He could have used his powers to make me not think about the suspicious situation. But why would he do it?'

'Doesn't he want to be entertained? Isn't my situation too cliché? This make no sense. Did he just reincarnated me at random? That might explain the situation.'

'But still. With my mind, I should have realized that it was all set up for me to fall in love with Zero Two, which I did... Well, it will all be realized in future, when I am strong enough to know about the truth. Anyway, let's focus on Zero Two's memories...'
