Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Aftermath Pt. I

"We've got an injured kid here."

"Another one? Darn that fox!"

"I know. Everyone's lost something. Get a stretcher and take this kid to safety."

When Jonathan opened his eyes slightly, he saw two grown men wearing flak jackets. Whether it was because Jonathan was too exhausted, their face nor voices were recognizable. He decided to rest his eyes in knowing what was likely to happen next.

After the attack on the nine-tails, a funeral was held for those who perished in the aftermath. There were many casualties, so just placing everyone in the Leaf's hospital wasn't going to work. Jonathan fell asleep due to the immense pressure his body had been feeling. He may have performed feats. that would make the legendary Madara Uchiha proud, but Jonathan still had his limits. Limits that he planned to overcome.

When Jonathan lifted up his eyes, he found himself lying down on a stretcher outside. There were many people in similar stretchers. Some were quiet. A lot were wailing. This was due to their pain or losses.

"Man! I just opened up my business yesterday. It'll cost me a fortune to get things running again," a man said.

"You idiot," a woman replied. "You should be happy you're alive." Jonathan could tell that was either the man's wife or sister. Regardless, he hadn't recognized them nor anyone around. Jonathan removed his covers and descended from the stretcher. Because there were so many people around, little to no one paid him any attention. They all had their own problems to deal with.

Jonathan looked at the sun and saw it was close to setting. He couldn't tell how long he had been asleep. Looking at his hands, Jonathan opened and closed them. He felt that hardly half of his chakra recovered. He then surveyed his surroundings to see if anyone looked a little familiar. Not a single person did. This made Jonathan consider what question he'd been asking himself since the first day he came to this world.

Naruto was a series that comprised of two-hundred and twenty episodes. Part two of the series had exactly five-hundred. Jonathan knew that a lot of those episodes comprised of something known as filler, a story in the series that was not originally in the writing. They hardly continued the main story as a whole.

After last night's encounter, Jonathan confirmed that this world consisted of not just filler characters but even characters mentioned in novels. This news had not favoured Jonathan's endeavours in the slightest. Naruto, the series as a whole, had over twenty light novels and ten movies written. Jonathan had only either read or seen less than half of them.

His mind, however, was not discomforted. He had already considered the missing plot points the creator of this world hadn't filled in. Most of the series was filled with plot twists or unexplained events. This was Jonathan's belief for most Japanese animation.

"You there. Kid." Jonathan turned his head to see a kunoichi. She, like many of the people here, didn't look familiar. Jonathan remained silent.

"You should be happy you got that stretcher. We barely had any left to put the seriously injured one's on. What's your name and where are your parents?" she asked sternly.

"You can call me Kabuto, mam," answered Jonathan with a bow. He knew when to lower himself to others. This is just one of the things that made Jonathan a formidable person.

The kunoichi was slightly taken a back at Jonathan's polite behaviour. "No need to be so formal with me, kid. Come on," she sighed. "Let's go find your parents."

"Water…" Jonathan faintly said.

"Oh! You'd like some water. Give me a sec. I'll get you a cup." The woman looked around before disappearing. Jonathan was not going to wait for her. The instant Jonathan was out of sight, he casually walked away into the crowd of injured civilians.
