Almost every day, Izumi would come to a remote forestry area within her clan and begin her training.
The reason Jonathan didn't visit her before was because he had suspicions that she was being monitored by her clan. More so, he didn't have the right means available. To visit the Uchiha clan district after the nine-tail's attack was asking for trouble. Using the transformation jutsu was also risky. If someone spotted Jonathan trespassing in their territory, even if he seemed harmless, they'd ask too many unnecessary questions. This was something Jonathan was not looking to have happen.
And just like Jonathan expected, there was a shinobi spying on Izumi training. Jonathan had been watching Izumi in his smoke form for a few days now. He would transfigure himself into smoke and lodge between the tree leaves. On his first couple days, he spotted a shinobi from the Uchiha clan watching her intently. He couldn't recognize the shinobi, but he at least knew why he was watching her. Just like Fugaku stated in his office, they were looking to nurture Izumi.
Much like how Jonathan was trying to do.
This same shinobi would come perhaps once or twice a week. When Izumi was done training, he would leave. The only reason Jonathan knew that was because he spent a whole day monitoring Izumi. Some would call it stalking, but Jonathan had no shame in his actions. This was the kunoichi that could one day help Jonathan advance in this world. Izumi Uchiha's daily pattern was nothing special. Every morning, she arose from her bed, prepared a quick snack and left for the academy. Without a mother or father to cook for her, she would either have to grab whatever snack was in her fridge or buy something from outside.
Since her clan was raising her, she was given funds by none other than Fugaku himself. Jonathan witnessed this transaction personally. Fugaku was cold to her, hardly showing any sentiment to her lost parents. This only made Izumi more detached from her clan. At the academy, she was skilled yes; but, she was not number one. Perhaps in her class she was but, in the academy, (at least before his graduation), Itachi was number one. Afterwards, Izumi would return home and immediately head to a remote area to apply what she learned at the academy.
Unlike the original timeline, Izumi felt attracted to Itachi Uchiha. But not once had they really made a meaningful encounter. Since Itachi wasn't interested in Izumi in the first place, he didn't notice her abrupt change. His duties were towards his own family. Izumi Uchiha had essentially become a concealed kunoichi that seemed like a walking puppet with strings. Jonathan felt no empathy for her. To him, she was nothing more than a sack with two rubies where her eyes should be.
It wasn't until this night, while Jonathan was still monitoring her closely, that she practically cried herself to sleep.
'You pathetic neophyte,' thought Jonathan.
If there's something Jonathan understood, it was that Izumi Uchiha was meant to be kindhearted. Because of that, the 'Uchiha curse' hadn't affected her in the original timeline. Now, Jonathan didn't believe in that curse because he wasn't superstitious. But he did believe that emotional trauma could advance the sharingan. Izumi had grown as opposed to her original timeline. She was now capable of sustaining her sharingan for a longer period without exhausting herself much.
With all that in mind, Jonathan left to his place of residency. The whole day had been spent confirming Itachi's role as well as monitoring Izumi Uchiha. It was essential for Jonathan to know those things because he needed to understand what event in the world he was at. While Izumi herself had now become an outlier. Jonathan had to make sure she wasn't changing anything too much.

At home, Jonathan saw Teuchi and Ayame eating at the table. Their family bond sickened Jonathan every day.
"How was the investment?" Jonathan questioned.
"It went well, my boy. The owner was so happy I invested such a large sum!" replied Teuchi. "We're expected to get about ten to twenty thousand ryō a month.'
'That meant that when prices sored and business flourished, those monthly dividends would double,' estimated Jonathan. It still wasn't a lot to him but it was enough to suffice as passive income till the time was ripe.
When Jonathan looked at Ayame, she simply smiled without saying a word. Jonathan had gotten sick and tired of her calling him her 'onii-chan', so he gave a suggestion for her to stop. Just as Jonathan was about to walk upstairs, he heard Ayame speak.
"Sleep well, onii-chan!"
The instant Jonathan heard that, his sharingan activated and he looked at Ayama with a high amount of killing intent. Jonathan's chakra was still present in her mind. And he didn't see anyone else's chakra signature. He was weary on why she called him that when he specifically commanded her not to. At of all the times Jonathan controlled Ayame and Teuchi, this was the first time one of them hadn't listened. Ayame simply gave him a smile as he continued eating her dinner peaceably.
'I see…' Jonathan concluded.
One of Jonathan's mental suggestions was that as long as they didn't bother Jonathan, they could live a happy life. Not once had they trespassed against that. Jonathan spent every day and night secluded in his room. Neither Teuchi nor Ayame ever once disturbed him. Because of that, they believed they were living a happy life. Ayame's idea of a happy life was to have someone she could refer to as her "onii-chan". Jonathan took note on this. Two ideas that contradicted one another under an illusion would cause that suggestion to not take effect.
Jonathan had to live with Ayame calling him onii-chan. At least for now.
