The next day, Jonathan made his way to the Uchiha district.
After monitoring Izumi Uchiha's every move, he knew exactly where she would be at. It was early morning but she wasn't at the academy. No young person aspiring to be a ninja was. It was their day off. But Izumi did not take days off. She spent time like this from morning to evening all by herself. The change in her after both her parents died was that intense.
When Jonathan arrived via his smoke form, he began first scouting the area. The shinobi assigned to watch her wasn't nearby. Last week was the same. The sun had yet risen and Izumi was seen kicking a tree trunk. This was her warmup routine. A thousand kicks followed by shurikenjutsu. The instant she was done warming up, Jonathan manifested himself into his physical form a few yards behind her. In taking one step on the grass, Izumi quickly heard it and turned around. "Who's there?!" she asked in surprise.
The person staring at her had medium sized, brunette hair with a white gown on. More so, he had the sharingan active. That same person was Jonathan disguised as Asura Ōtsutsuki.
"You can call me Shikamaru," replied Jonathan. No one knew what Asura Ōtsutsuki looked like. While the name itself might have already been used, no one of the Uchiha clan would know of that name save Sasuke Uchiha. And that wouldn't be for the next five years from now. Izumi could never link them anyways.
"Whoever you are, you're in the way of my training," Izumi said coldly.
"Am I now?" replied Jonathan? "From what it looks like, you were playing around with a tree just now."
"Excuse me?" questioned the offended Izumi. "I don't know who you are and I don't care. If you're just gonna berate me, just leave. People like you annoy the crap outta me. Watching little girls from nowhere."
Jonathan wasn't even remotely affected by her sly remark. Instead, he pulled out a kunai from his gown and tossed it back and forth in his hands nonchalantly saying, "Your mother raise you that way?"
Angrily, Izumi activated her sharingan. Staring at Jonathan she said, "I'll kill you if you mention her again." Jonathan found that side of her interesting. He knew she had undergone a change but to think that change was more towards darkness amused Jonathan's curiosity. Jonathan scoffed with a smile and rushed towards Izumi. In response, Izumi lunged at Jonathan.
The two closed their distance. In the blink of an eye, Izumi twirled her body to kick at Jonathan's face. Jonathan planted his feet and caught her heel. Izumi used her other leg to hop off the ground. When she did, Jonathan saw her fist aiming at his private area. 'Shameless kunoichi,' Jonathan thought. He used his free hand and stopped her fist just moments before it landed.
"What?" Izumi bellowed. Jonathan spun Izumi's small body and punched her square in her diaphragm. The impact caused Izumi to spit out saliva. Her body then crashed into a tree. When she came to, she looked up and saw a running Jonathan with a kunai pulled out. Jonathan tried stabbing Izumi's head, but she managed to duck just in time. Izumi formed a tiger seal and inhaled to release a fireball technique at point blank range. Jonathan's entire body was seen engulfed by her flames flames.
From atop the same tree, Jonathan was standing with his arms crossed thinking, 'Not bad for a ninja her age.' Izumi was only seven, the same age as Itachi. And though she had the sharingan, it wasn't fully developed. Not like how Jonathan's was. More so, Jonathan began his training more than a year before her. His skills could match up to Chūnin. Izumi was still just at a genin's level.

As the flames ceased, Jonathan fell backwards with his eyes closed. Izumi looked ahead of her at the results but hadn't seen where Jonathan was. She looked up and saw him coming down. Jonathan twirled his body, but Izumi quickly evaded as Jonathan slammed his knee to the ground causing the earth to break apart on his land. Jonathan wasted no time to pursue Izumi the moment she dodged. He closed the distance instantly.
Jonathan tried to palm Izumi's face but she deflected it. He tried to palm her again but she deflected it again. Jonathan tried kicking her chin but she ducked. With his legs still in the air, he raised it upwards and smashed where Izumi was. She managed to dodge by just a hair's length. Jonathan began performing some hand seals. Izumi, after her dodge, looked up frantically and to see what he was doing. She quickly began copying it in a hurry.
'Fire style: Fireball jutsu!' they both said.
Fire erupted from their mouths simultaneously. The moment their raging flames clashed, it caused a stagnant wind to swarm the area. Both Jonathan and Izumi continued to exhale. Jonathan looked and saw that though he released a regular amount of chakra, his flames weren't overtaking hers. It was a stalemate. Using calorie control, Jonathan expanded his flames to even greater proportions.
"Ah!" screamed Izumi. Her entire body had been engulfed by Jonathan's technique.
'How strange. I used a normal amount of chakra to release that fireball and she was able to match me.' thought Jonathan. He slowly walked towards Izumi's fallen body. Flames were scattered across the trees and grass. Due to that destructive force the two caused, Jonathan knew he shouldn't stay here any longer.
By the time he reached Izumi, he knelt down and raised her head by the strands of her hair. The face she made looked pathetic to Jonathan.
"At least your sharingan didn't deactivate," Jonathan commented.
Izumi looked like she was in pain at first but then she smiled saying, "I saw your chakra increase at the last second. Were you that worried I would win? Haha-ha…"
That comment made Jonathan smile. Not a smile of joy but one of amusement. "Keep that up and you'll follow your mother's footsteps. And you know why?" Jonathan asked nearing her face. "It's because you'll die like her one day." Jonathan struck her face with an augmented ferocious fist attack. He held back a little just enough to only knock her unconscious.
Izumi's world was dark for an unknown amount of time. A spec of light could be seen in that darkness. By the time she lifted up her eyes, she saw that the light was coming from the moon. A cloud had just passed by it. Izumi could feel that her back was to the ground. When she lifted herself up, she also saw that her surroundings had been burnt. What was strange to her, however, was that she didn't feel any pain. She looked at herself and didn't see any injuries either. All she could do was look around before staring at the moon asking herself, "Just who was that?"
