Jonathan couldn't remember the last time he laughed. Since he stepped foot in this world, he never once did. And how could he? Nothing about what he was going through was funny to him. He didn't find it saddening either, nor did he expect anyone here or on earth to feel bad for him. The only thing Jonathan felt was faith.
Faith to slaughter everything that moved in this world to return home.
But to do that, he still needed to get even stronger. Jonathan used what little strength he had gained from resting and stood up. He looked around and saw he was in a forestry area. The land was filled with saturated colours. Even without the sharingan active, he could clearly tell the grass was greener.
'The area doesn't look like Mt. Myōboku.' As Jonathan thought this, he felt something slimy on his foot. It was a yellowish slug.
In the world of ninjas, there were three unique locations that were quite remote. They were Mt. Myōboku, the land where toads resided; Ryūchi Cave, the cave where snakes dwelt; and Shikkotsu Forest, an area squirming with slugs but was never seen in the series.
There were three ways to enter these regions. The first was to be summoned to them. The second was to traverse the secret paths that would lead to their respective places, and the third, which Jonathan used, was to be reverse summoned. However, the chances of the third method working was volatile. If someone performed the summoning technique without forming a contract with a summoning animal, they would be reverse summoned to the animal they had the most affinity towards. In the latter series, Boruto: The Next Generation, it was retconned.
Even Jonathan wasn't entirely sure if it would work. He took the chance and performed it. Whether it failed him or not, Jonathan was prepared to be sent to prison, interrogated or even die. He would have had no regrets.
Jonathan may have escaped the Leaf Village after fending off six Anbu, but he didn't find the fight victorious. Had it not been for his butterfly mode, first gate, smoked, sharingan combination, he would have died. When Jonathan looked at his body, it was malnourished. He was severely underweight. On top of that, his entire left arm was badly burnt.
Taking the red pill from the Akamichi clan was what truly helped Jonathan. Throughout those long periods of training, Jonathan knew the side effects the red pill carried. But because he knew, and was proficient in medical ninjutsu as well as had extensive knowledge in most herbs and poisons, Jonathan was able to neutralize that poison within that pill. It was done several months back. But due to the time it took to rid the pill of that side effect, Jonathan only had one pill.
Because Jonathan had his weapons pouch on the side where he was hit with from that explosive attack, all of Jonathan's items had been destroyed.
Jonathan began walking. His body was weak and drained. What he needed was chakra to heal his injuries. As he continued, Jonathan surmised he was definitely not in Ryūchi Cave. This was beneficial towards Jonathan because he had never watched Boruto: The Next Generation. That series expanded on more on Ryūchi Cave. If Jonathan had been sent there, he would have faced the trials without being aware that trials even existed there.
When Jonathan stopped by a tree, he noticed a banana on the ground. To say that Jonathan was hungry would be an understatement. Jonathan picked up the banana and looked at it.
"Are you gonna eat that?" a screeching voice uttered.
Jonathan looked up to see the most peculiar thing. A chimpanzee hanging off the tree's branches was staring at Jonathan…
"Well, come on. I can't tell what you're thinking with that blank face of yours," the ape said. Some people would have been alarmed that a monkey was talking to them. But Jonathan kept a straight face. He was well composed and had full control over his entire self.
"No. You can have it," replied Jonathan as he held the banana towards the ape.
The chimpanzee jumped down and snatched it right out of his hand. "Say, thanks!" The ape had a high-pitched voice. His very tone matched what he would likely sound like if he screeched. When the chimpanzee hastily peeled the banana, he held it to his mouth but hadn't taken a bite. His eyes darted towards the emaciated Jonathan.
"Hey! Wait a minute… What's a kid doing in Kyowakoku Jungle!?"
