Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Anime’s Hot-Trash

It was a sunny day outside. Many people were seen walking along interconnected sidewalks. Some were wearing backpacks; some were on their phones; some were even riding skateboards and bicycles. Next to a table by the grass were four people. One of those people was Jonathan.

"Alright… Ya'll know what to do. No bums," a man reminded the group.

That man was one of Jonathan's buddies, Tyler. He wouldn't refer to him as being his friend. The two, at best, shared similar interests enough hang out with one another. As long as both parties were relaxed and made the other laugh, they got along quite well. That was the aura Jonathan gave out without needing to try.

Jonathan picked up three flyers. The two next to him, Jasmine and Pricilla, two of Tyler's sisters, did the same. Much like every university, there was always a party being held at some point in time. Tonight, Jonathan and Tyler were going to host one. Because of Tyler's affluential parents, he was able to rent out a whole house without the need for roommates. It was the perfect place to spend the night, host parties or just kick back and relax.

A few people walked by, but Jonathan hadn't handed them any of his flyers. Neither did Jasmine or Pricilla. They weren't looking to invite just anyone to their party. That person had to be special enough.

For instance, Pricilla found one of her friends on the basketball team. She not only gave him a flyer but also told him to bring half the team. Jonathan knew that basketball player would never say no to her, so already this party was going to go viral across campus.

When Jonathan saw one of his high school classmates, he approached him.

"Sup, Jon." This was Jonathan's nickname.

"Yo, what's good, Jacob?" Jonathan asked as he shook Jacob's hand. Jacob Singh was a Guyanese student here at the university just like Jonathan. When the two were back in high school, they used to always talk about Japanese animation. Them and their little table group.

"Still abstinent from anime?" Jacob rhetorically asked.

"Bro, anime's hot-trash! How can you still be watching that thing?" Jonathan replied. The two then laughed because neither of them hated each other. Jonathan may have disliked Japanese animation with a passion, but he never let it get to his head. Neither did he let it tear his mutual relations he had with the people he had no animosity towards.

After their friendly exchange, Jonathan returned to his group.

"Did you just give him an invite?" Jasmine asked.

"He's cool. Don't worry," Jonathan claimed. He didn't like the way Jasmine asked that. Around this time, Jonathan had long stopped watching Japanese animation. But that didn't mean he would isolate people.

"He looked kinda weird, though. Who is he? What's his name?" Jasmine insisted.

"Jas, you askin' a lot of question right…" Jasmine had really only asked three, but Jonathan's sly comment was enough to make Tyler and Pricilla find Jasmine in the wrong for pestering Jonathan's decision. She therefore left the matter alone. Even if she asked, Jonathan found her annoying. He found most women annoying. Jonathan may seem like the easy-going type but he only had two friends.

Though a lot of people hung out with and knew Jonathan both inside and outside the university, didn't mean he valued them as his friends. Some people went as far as even calling Jonathan their best friend. Hearing those words uttered from someone else's mouth made Jonathan feel severely unimpressed.

Jonathan never needed to try to make friends. They came to him naturally. The only person Jonathan focused on was his himself.

When Jonathan lifted up his eyes, he saw sunlight beaming through an object. Jonathan blocked the sunlight's view as his vision became less and less blurry. He had been dreaming. But it wasn't any ordinary dream, it was a memory from his time back on earth.

Jonathan lied there back against the surface. A large leaf was overshadowing his upper body. If someone were to look at Jonathan's face, they would see a blank expression. No one could tell what Jonathan was thinking. He simply closed his eyes and tried to rest.
