•Longer River Port, Perera•
"God surely damned this weather..."
"God? If he existed, we wouldn't be like this."
This is the adventurer party, dispatched from Hirom, a country in the west side of the continent.
Hirom is a beautiful nation with alluring and fascinating culture.
Anyway, what would an adventurer party from Hirom do in east Perera? It's quite literally from one side of the world to the other. - Isn't what Kol thought. He made the research himself, it seems like their guild is in some kind of race. The guild's name is •Esaseen-Eto Guild•
It was once a prestigious guild, but, uh, things happened, I guess. It's funding wasn't as good as it once was, back when it was founded, over 380 years ago, many people would argue that it was the best guild to serve.
The one which held the title of the "best" guild is the •Capital Guild•
Capital is the capital of Geloh.
Geloh is the richest country of all. It has a stable relationship with Hirom, the country behind it in fortune.
You can say that they are something like allies, but not really. Even though things happened long ago, like Hirom, or Qivisal at that time, having their capital occupied by Geloh for many years.
At the cost of befriending Hirom though, Shikinino didn't take that so well, and their friendship fell. They were once the two big guys bullying Qivisal, but now, it seems like Hirom switched roles with Shikinino.
Enough history talks now! Thankfully, the party was panting like crazy the whole time instead of conversing anything important.
"When is Ayden coming back... ughhhh!"
Ayden is taking a while... the adventurer party completed their commission, and now they are waiting for Ayden to come back with the reward. They are in a train station.
Yeah. A train station. It works thanks to the stronger users of the earth element. If not for these strong and skilled guys, the train wouldn't work as well, or actually, it wouldn't be even nearly as fast as it is.
On each train, about 4 skilled earth "manipulators" move it.
It takes about double the amount if it isn't skilled "drivers"
You can call these guys many things.
It seems like Kol is reading a newspaper, Gren is staring at the ceiling which doesn't look very stable... Oh, I think I see Ayden!
These guys for sure look like adventurers. Oh, wait, you can't see them. Right.
Kol has hair. I mean, brown colored hair, yeah. He's dressed in not so clean clothes- I guess that's what it's like being far away from home.
Then, we have gren, who has a dark hair. Something like black. Doesn't look like it's simply black though, but his outfit is in black, and he has a pretty big hat, which he seems to wear because of the strong sun, black tall boots, and his covered in something like a mantle.
Ayden, he has orange hair and brown eyes. He has a shirt, but I guess that he'd rather take it off if it weren't for the sun. His pants aren't very long, and he has flip flops. They look nice.
"Dude! I thought that you dipped with the money man, besides... wait where are the money?" The group expected a huge bag! After all, Fid was worth over 60 million Chesh.
Suddenly, the weight on their shoulders was lifted off, as Ayden showed the cheque.
"Be calm, all the money's here."
They all grinned. Including Novel, who looked like he was asleep until now.
I didn't mention Novel, did I? He is in a black outfit with light armor, and has grey hair. His eyes are green. Or blue. I can't tell so well, it looks kind of like... both.
"Sixty million! All the work paid off!"
There was a huge bonus by the guild. Ayden was asked what took him so long. Out of everybody in the party, excluding the two absent, Kol has the best skill to tell how much time has passed without a clock. He was quite happy about it in his mind, but it seems like he was so focused on the newspaper that he didn't notice that there was a clock on the wall. It was quite high up, so it isn't surprising that he didn't see it.
"You took over fifty minutes..."
"Actually about an hour." Novel corrected Kol.
Kol was about to make an awkward situation, by expressing his not so happy feelings. He noticed the clock, which is what stopped him...
He admitted defeat. In his mind.
Besides, if they were to argue, they would probably be kicked out of the train station, and there are not so many minutes until their train comes.
It was already quite loud though.
"Ahaha, I was lost" Although it's a port city of a river, it's still very large. The river, Sei, is a long river. It goes all the way from eastern Hirom all the way to Central Nidon.
"The train for Hano is here everybody! It'll be leaving in 10 minutes!" Is what the main driver shouted not long after the train arrived.
The party quickly got on board. Without any trouble either.
Usually, some people would go as far as to fight for places, but this train wasn't very lively. It had seats for over 50 people.
Gren didn't see 50 people though. As far as his vision went, there are about 15 seated in the train.
Hm, not much.
It's perhaps because Perera, the country they are in currently, doesn't have the best relations with Nidon.
Let's word it like this...
If a world war broke out suddenly, there would be three teams.
Team one being Geloh, Hirom, Nidon and ChanPaKan.
Team two consists of Menish, Folort, Perera, Shikinino.
Team three only has The Resistance alone... Well, there also are rebels in north Perera, but who knows if they'll side with them.
Now, how does this stupid resistance manage to survive for so long? It's been nearly 70 years since they've declared independence from ChanPaKan.
The biggest factor is it's geographical position.
The continent Fuhvhavala looks something like... a VERY fat capybara with a horn, maybe? It kind of looks like that. And then, on top of it, or to be exact on top of it's head, where ChanPaKan is located, is where a rich island has formed. ChanPaKan had total control over it for a long time, but after the siege of Ezgelei, the north became much poorer, and while ChanPaKan had to invest a lot of resources into building up the north, the resistance popped up out of nowhere and ChanPaKan couldn't do much.
What about Nidon? What did they do as ChanPaKan's friend? They were invaded by Perera, and some conspiracies came up against ChanPaKan, which made the idea of assisting them unpopular.
Seems like the train started moving.
The train is being moved through manipulation of earth. Yeah, the train itself is made out of rock. The trains move on bridges which are very, very tall. It's the safest way of travelling too. There are many deaths every month from unsafe transport. The height they were on gave the passengers a nice view of the river and the terrain as a whole.
While Kol was checking out some book with many kind of ships, everybody else stared at the beautiful land of Perera.
"Guys, look! How does this one look?" Everybody, but Novel looked at the ship that Kol was pointing at.
After a few moments though, he followed.
"It looks nice, 80 million chesh though... that's very expensive."
"Well, it is a Galleon" Galleons were very nice ships, they are expensive though.
"Yeah, one which is on the smaller side." Ugh, true. It looked nice, but it's expensive. Besides, they probably don't have that much money.
"Who said that we'll buy it?"
Even after being together for quite some time, they still don't go along.
They are new to each other after all. Kind of.
There is one half: Novel, Ayden and Aiveyl.
Then, the other: Gren, Kol and Goroden.
Both Aiveyl and Goroden are absent.
Aiveyl and Goroden seem to have themselves focusing on something else instead of the party. Aiveyl is in ChanPaKan, and Goroden... no one from the party knows.
Anyway, let's see what they're gonna do in Hano...
•Hano, Nidon•
It got somewhat colder. Gren took his hat off. as they step out in the train station of Hano. It was even louder than the one they were in about 20 minutes ago.
"Where was the apartment?" Seems like they're looking for their apartment. Gren doesn't seem to know where it is.
"No worries, I got this little map, it shows where it is." Ayden took it out from his deep pocket, it looked like a card at first, but it seems like as you open it, it turns to a somewhat bigger map than what you'd think at first. Naturally, it wasn't very detailed.

"Give it to me, I'm better at navigating than you." Kol didn't try to pick a fight, but Ayden didn't take it the way Kol wanted him to.
"No, I'll lead you, leave it to me." Ayden replied, sounding upset.
Gren decided to save the situation, at least he thinks so, by taking it from Ayden with force, saying "The third one always wins the argument. I'll lead you." while grinning.
"No way, that's even worse! I will take it!"
...
They got kicked out of the train station.
"Ugh... let's play rock paper scissors."
What a tense atmosphere between them.
...
Kol vs Ayden
Gren vs Novel
Kol vs Ayden!
Kol seems to be confident in himself. I can win- is what he thought.
Ayden is also confident. I will win- is what he thought.
Rock, Paper, Scissors... Three, Two, One!
"Aaaghh! I lost!"
"Heh, I won, of course!" Ayden won.
"I'll win this round though!"
Ayden replied with a "Hmph"
Rock, Paper, Scissors... One, Two, Three!
Ayden won again!
"GAH!" They're starting to get looks from strangers.
Gren vs Novel!
"Heh, Novel, you've never been better than me in anything, I will win!"
"This isn't 'my dear diary' to say such things."
Rock, Paper, Scissors... Three, Two, One!
"Haha! Seems like this is my dear diary, eeh??" Gren was happy.
"Paper.. Has to beat scissors!"
Novel sure is frustrated.
"Hah, are you gonna say that you used paper because I used scissors?"
"Ugh, round two. I'll win."
Rock, Paper, Scissors... Three, Two, One!
"I win."
"Aaaii..." Gren scratched his head shamefully.
They sure were immersed.
"It's the last round. I'll win for sure!"
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Three, Two, One!
"HAH! I WON!"
It's the finals.
Gren VS Ayden
Kol didn't even want to watch. Novel didn't look happy either.
"Gren, I'll let you give up. So, give up now!"
"No way... when did you become a copycat?!"
"Hmph. Here we go."
Rock, Paper, Scissors... Three, Two, One!
Ayden won!
"Heh, where's your confidence now?"
"My hand, it slipped!"
He didn't even say it in a sarcastic tone... anyway, round two!
Rock, Paper, Scissors... Three, Two, One!
"Easy!"
"Hm... What a fluke."
"Come on! Rock, Paper, Scissors, Three, Two, One!"
Ayden won!
"Aghh! Finals have to have five rounds! Come on, you're acting like a scared cat!"
"Nah, I won, Gren."
"Let's see now... wait, where are the keys!?"
"What the heck!? You forgot the keys for the apartment? That's why you should've leave it to me!"
I guess that it's karma.
"Let's just get another one by the guild" Ayden didn't want to talk about this anymore already.
He had a point too. The train station in Long River Port is quite busy, somebody surely took the key and left.
"Hey, you guys." An unknown person called.
"Oh, hello."
"I was looking for you, I heard a few screams that sounded a lot like you. I think that you dropped this." She showed their key.
How nice of her!
"Wait, why didn't you give it to us back in the train?" That's a good question, maybe she was embarrased.
"I'm sorry, you guys looked very busy, I didn't want to bother you." Busy? I think that we missed that! Anyway...
"Ah, thanks. How can we repay you? We would've surely never see it again if it wasn't for you."
She told Gren that she wants to meet him later, in a certain place. If it wasn't for the map, he would've not know where it is, right?
I'd say that he is lucky.
"What did she say?"
"Yeah, well, she has some trouble that she'd discuss somewhere else. She wants to meet me alone in the restaurant in the north east of Hano."
"Eh? A date? Not even an hour in and you already got a date. Whatever, Ayden, lead the way."
They started walking. It was getting quite dark, it's now evening. Hano is a very nice town in the afternoon or later.
It's a strange town. In it's recent ~300 years of history, it's been under the control of several governments:
Perera, Menish, ChanPaKan, Nidon and Shikinino. Those are many nations for sure. And they had it under their control for longer than a decade... except Menish, but they still had it for some time.
"So this is it. Looks nice."
"Why does it feel like it's a building from ChanPaKan?"
"I guess that they had it in their pockets for a long time, long ago."
Kol made a solid guess.
When they entered inside, it looked like a pub. It wasn't very noisy, nor was it full with a crowd. It was a nice place.
"Welcome! Come, come!"
"Hey, the woman at the guild told me I need to give you this." Ayden gave something which Gren couldn't notice what it was... because he was staring at the ceiling. It was stable this time, who knows why he stared at it though.
"Ahh! I see. We'll give you the menu right away! Please pick a table. I'll personally get your luggage to your rooms!"
"Heh, seems like we're special guests, eh?" Gren said as if he was a very special person. Well, he really kind of is with his recent achievement.
What did he do?
Gren controls the fire. He's somewhat skilled. He isn't somewhat powerful though. He was more than that. Back in Perera, the villain Fid was finally arrested, with the help of Gren's party. While everybody else was wounded or injured, Gren was still standing proudly, and continued to fight with huge flames. He even became fire at some point, which requires a lot of investment to master, if not mastered, it wastes a lot of energy. While you're one with your element, you lose vulnerability. Naturally, Gren had to defeat him in a short time, otherwise...
They would've lose.
After the fight though, he was extremely tired. He felt like getting hid by an earth train at full speed. Thankfully, Kol's armor managed to help him sustain himself, which made them manage to get the credit.
Anyway, it seems like the party already ordered their stuff.
Some liquor, salad, fish, fresh fruits... the north area of Nidon offers rich amount of food.
"The newspaper was interesting, I read about some talks with historians. Long ago, while Hirom was alive, in the western islands, after Geloh sent a galleon secretly to capture the group islands, the personnel reported that they saw a gigantic wyvern which it's wings alone covered the skies. That wyvern was made out of rocks. Being under it's wings alone was dangerous from the light rain of little rocks. Thankfully, they had a rowboat with them and managed to escape. That galleon was left alone in the middle of nowhere." What Kol said was interesting.
"Ehh? A huge wyvern? Heh, these guys of the past sure do dramatise everything."
"Gren, that was during the times Hirom was alive. That was when he was 18 years old. A few months before he died."
"Oh, right. Hirom. He sure was a beast. Probably literally too, right? Haha."
Novel cleared his throat.
"It's probably fantasy to glorify Hirom."
I can tell what he means.
"Novel, you're just biased. He beat your best ketod while he was 13 years old, and your ketod was 28 back then. I personally think that it's possible."
Novel wasn't so happy at what Kol said...
"That's only cause he controlled both wind and earth, how unfair."
As far as I know, it has been seen that he uses wind at around 15 years old and after.
"Being blind should be enough to compensate for that advantage. Besides, your point is true." Gren said something which was entirely true.
"Anyway, I'll go up, I don't feel like eating anymore." Gren did have to save some space for the lady after all.
"Remember that you have a date later..." Is what Ayden said in a sarcastic tone.
Gren didn't even look back at him.
"Good night sir!"
"Thanks."
We'll find out what happens with Gren next chapter! Bye!
