Volume 1: The Light
“This is surprising…!”
The next day, when Master came to my room, he saw my left hand glowing slightly and muttered to himself.
“I have had dozens, even hundreds of students in the past, but none of them have been able to use magic so quickly. You may be favored by the spirits.”
“Does spirits have likes and dislikes?”
“Of course, spirits are fickle beings that likes and dislikes a lot of things. There are even some who cannot use magic despite having a lot of magic power because they are not liked by the spirits.”
I don’t know exactly because I can’t see them, but it makes me a little giddy to think that there are spirits who like me.
I don’t know if I can express my gratitude by doing this, but I gently stroke the light in my left hand with my right. The light also shimmered a little as if it was responding to it.
“I was originally going to focus mainly on lectures today, but I think it’s better to move on to the next level of practical application. Rejoice, Callus, you may be able to get to healing magic in two weeks with this pace!”

Shizuku was as good as a chef and was especially good at baking sweets.
Even when I didn’t have much of an appetite, I could still eat the sweets she made.
“I put a lot of effort into making them, as Callus-sama is working hard. I baked a lot, so please eat as much as you want.”
“Thank you, thank you!”
After adding plenty of Shizuku’s homemade strawberry jam, I filled my mouth with the scones.
It was delicious, soft and fluffy, just the way I like it!
The jam has tinge of sourness that neutralize some of the sweetness and keeps me from getting tired of it. Perhaps it was because I was feeling energetic, but it tasted even better than usual
“Hmm, you don’t have to eat so quickly, no one will take it.”
“But it’s so delicious!”
Because I used a lot of energy, I ate eat as many sweets as I wanted.
In the end, most of the scones ended up in my stomach. I think this was the first time I’ve ever eaten so many scones.
“Thanks for the…. food. It was delicious, what a treat!”
‘I’m glad you were satisfied with the food. Please don’t hesitate to ask for more tea.”
“Yes!”
I then watched Shizuku clean, while drinking tea.
If Shizuku wasn’t stuck with me, she probably would’ve become a head maid.
She is not only skilled as a maid, she’s also athletic, smart, and incredibly beautiful. I think there are many nobles who would want to take Shizuku, but for some reason she never left her post here (as my maid).
I asked her once before and she just brushed it off, saying “It’s because I love Callus-sama.” I wonder if she will ever tell me the reason someday.
“Oh, by the way, Shizuku can use magic, right? What kind of magic can you use?”
“I can use Ice Magic. However, I’m not that good at it. I’ve only dabbled in it.”
I think Ice Magic is a derivative of Water Magic. It is a magic that suits the cool Shizuku.
“Ice Magic? Can you show you me?”
“I can’t show you anything that great, but since Callus-sama wants to, I can show you.”
Shizuku then put her right hand out in front of me.
“*Les Hulu* (Ice Flower).”
I felt cold wind blowing in the room that then gathered in Shizuku’s hand, eventually turning into ice.
Then, with a tinkling sound, it formed the shape of a beautiful flower.
“Please take it.”
Shizuku then handed me the ice flower.
It was delicate and beautiful, and did not look like it had been made in an instant.
