Chapter 38: Trip to the recess

"I know fast as lightning is a phrase but you didn't need to take it so seriously sid." the admiral said with a chuckle. alex just froze his hair in response before chuffing out a laugh at the mans white afro. "oi can you leave my hair out of this you big lizard!" the admiral said moving near the lit brazier to thaw out his hair. the rest of the group including alex laughed at the man who was irritated by the constant pranks alex pulled on his. he knew that alex got a kick out of messing with him but usually he could get him back afterwards.

It was a lot like a war in the back and forth pranks between them as each was seeking to get the other to admit defeat. the admiral had no intention of wrestling with alex though as his instincts told him he stood no chance at winning any more. it had been made clear to the admiral with alex's showing off just a bit before that he had reached the elder dragon level and was a good way into it as well. alex didn't continue messing with the man though but left for the elders recess as a bolt of lightning.

It took alex just a few moments to reach the recess like he had blinked and he was there. it was slightly disorienting to be honest as the surroundings changed drastically in an instant. alex looked down at the area and immediately noticed an uragon rolling around and shot down quickly slamming into it. the beast screamed at the sudden impact buckling it's knees and smashing its whole body into the rough stone below. alex had no intention of eating this monster since it was covered in tar but that didn't mean he couldn't use it.

The uragon species much like the rodabaan covered itself in a thick tar that made it able to stick it's chosen type of material to its body. in the rodabaan's case it's bone but for uragon's it was several types of high value ore. an interesting ability that wasn't shown that much was the goro goro no mi's ability to manipulate conductive metal using the users currents. alex had gotten the idea of using the ore on uragon to armor his body similar to how kulve taroth does with gold.

Uragon was a physically sturdy monster however so even alex took a while to put it down and the corpse left over was missing huge chunks of flesh. alex would have killed it sooner had it not been for the stupid durability of the thing. this lead to the uragon suffering far more than any other monster alex had hunted but he paid it no attention. once dead alex ran a heavy current of electricity through the corpse causing it to spasm before smoke started to billow off it as the metal began to melt and gather in a puddle under alex.

The liquid was a strange red and orange color with hints of blue that began to creep up alex's legs covering his body in a thin sheet of metal. the metal was incredibly hot at first but since alex was both thunder and fire attributed he was entirely unaffected by the heat. unlike kulve taroth alex made sure he formed the metal over his scales and hide like a perfectly normal layer of his body. this maintained alex's sleek sharp look while also adding an extra layer of defense to his body. he had especially focused on his neck to ensure no monster got the same idea of snapping his neck to kill him.

The rest of the uragon's corpse was useless to alex so he used it to lure the lavasioth out onto solid ground. it was easy too since the lavasioth completely ignored alex despite him standing nearby charging a water attack into his tail spike. alex idlily wondered if the lavasioth was actually blind and relied on smell and tremors to hunt. this made sense as alex couldn't imagine a normal monster's eyes lasting very long inside of lava without some sort of protection.

Once alex felt his tail humming with barely suppressed water he shot the spike right into the lavasioths side. a violent explosion of steam erupted on impact and the barely solid magma harden too fast becoming brittle as the huge amount of water washed over it. the lavasioth screamed in agony as it's internal temperature was rapidly cooled sending it's body into shock. alex dashed over and snapped the beast neck quickly before dragging the corpse through the air back to what will become the hunters base camp to clean his meal.
