Chapter 21:
Rescue
I wasn't sure how far they had taken me, or where I was. I knew Cecelia would be along soon. I only had to wait. The rope continued to be itchy, and I was sure my skin was getting a rash from it. With my hands behind my back, I couldn't exactly tell.
That woman had left a while ago, it was hard to tell how long, when what sounded like an argument began on the other side of the door. I tried my best to listen in.
"It's just a job..." A young woman's voice, small and slightly proper.
"Yes, but who paid us?" A familiar womans voice replied, "Just...give me a second."
The door to the room opened with a metallic scraping sound. The dim light illuminated two figures, one taller than the other. It was the woman from before along with a child. Maybe in their early teen years.
"They have children here?" A fear entered my heart as images of a dead child flashed before my mind, "Fuck..."
"You," The woman called to me, "What you said earlier...What did you mean?"
"...About?" Looking up at her to give me more information, "You're going to have to be more specific."
"...You said we won't get paid," She answered begrudgingly, "And to...leave before she arrives. I take it you mean your wife?"
"So, you know I'm married," I sighed, leaning against the wall, "Yes, I meant her."
"We do...I said so earlier, remember?" Narrowing her eyes, she seemed suspicious.
"Ah, right..." Taking a breath, I was too much in a daze to remember every word she had said, "Sorry, it slipped my mind a bit."
"It's fine," She dismissed, waving her hand slightly, "So...who is she?"
The way she asked the question was cautious, almost nervous.
"You're asking me that after kidnapping me?" I was honestly not too surprised, none of them seemed to know, "Didn't you ask whoever hired you?"
"I...wasn't the one who got us the job," She admitted, looking at the young girl before back at me, "No one told us anything. Only a few knew, and they won't say. I know you don't have to tell me, but...who is she?"
Looking at her, I saw the worried expression on her face. The young girl looked worried as well, and to be honest held a striking resemblance to her.
"...Is that your kid?" I asked instead, motioning with my head towards her.
The woman instantly glared at me, but I held my ground. Remaining impassive, I did my best to hold her gaze. Eventually, she relented and nodded.
"My daughter, yes..." There was love on her face as she said this, "But that's not important right now. Tell me-"
"It is important," I snapped, angrier than I intended, catching myself I apologized, "Sorry, I...that's not important right now, but your daughter is."
I was reminded too much of my sister, Dolores. A drug addict who ignored her daughter for the next fix. She was...not always the best parent. She would often say her daughter wasn't important. I don't know how she kept custody of her.
"I'm sure you know the Ishikawa-Alden Corp?" I asked her, and sure enough she did.
"Yeah...everyone does," She told me, but then a sudden realization came over her, "Wait...she is part of the Ishikawa-Alden Corp?"
"Ha, a part of?" I had to laugh as I realized just how absurd my own status was, "No, she is Ishikawa-Alden Corp."
Her face went from surprise to doubt, "You're telling me...that you're married to the Ishikawa-Alden Family?"
"Okay, first of all...I get it, but ouch," I was a bit offended, but it was understandable, "Second, yes. Did you not take anything from me? My physical ID is in my right pocket. Biometrics should have told you something was up."

She motioned for her daughter to stay back as she approached me. Reaching into my pocket, she pulled out my wallet, and then my ID. Her expression changed from doubt to surprise, and finally to horror.
"You're shitting me..." Glancing up from my ID to look at me she held it up, "This is for real?"
"Yeah, trust me, I know. I can hardly believe it myself," I shrugged, adjusting myself slightly, "But it's the truth. She's very...possessive. Consider her a real life yandere."
As I said this, the sound of gunshots echoed in the distance. The woman quickly looked up and then back at me. Hurriedly, she fumbled with my ID and wallet.
"Leave it," I told her, motioning towards her daughter, "Take your daughter and leave. Go, now."
"Why are you-" She questioned me, but there was no time.
"Just go!" I urged her on, "Please, I...don't want to see a child die. You helped me, I'm helping you. I'm sure you know a way out."
Without a second thought, the woman grabbed her daughter, now fully afraid and shaking, and ran. I watched as they turned a corner and disappeared. The sound of screams and fighting off in the distance now getting closer.
A moment later blood splatter hit the wall and a body dropped in front of the open door. Cecelia, covered in blood and a fierce look saw me and her entire tune changed.
"Love!" She exclaimed, rushing to my side, "Are you okay?"
She began checking me over as armored guards swept past the room.
"Sector A Clear. Mrs. Williams is with the target," One of the guards reported through an ear piece, "Will continue sweeping to remove all hostiles."
Watching the guards move on, taking up positions, I could only hope that the woman and her child made it out. Looking towards Cecelia, she was checking me over, noticing the bandage on my face and the way I winced around my ribs.
"...Who did this to you?" Her tone was cold, not really asking but more demanding, "I'll tear them apart..."
"Relax, dear," I gave her a reassuring smile, "I'm alright. Someone helped bandage me. Apparently, they weren't supposed to harm me."
"Then why are you hurt?" She looked at me curiously, "They really said that?"
I nodded as she turned me around to cut the bindings off my wrists. Finally, the itching could be taken care of. Rubbing my wrists, I had to get rid of this feeling. It was my main focus. Cecelia smiled lovingly as she watched me.
"Keep one of them alive," She called out to the guards, "I have questions."
"Yes, Ma'am," They acknowledged before giving the order out to everyone else.
The ground beneath me disappearing as Cecelia took me in her arms, I felt myself blush.
"I-I can walk..." I muttered, "A-And you're a bit..."
Noticing how bloody she was, she grew embarrassed, but didn't let go.
"...Sorry, I just reacted," She smiled awkwardly, "We'll get cleaned up soon."
She gave me a sultry look then, and I knew what would happen. I looked forward to it. Being carried through the facility I was in, I realized it was some abandoned factory. Though fortified and made into their hideout. Guards swept through the area and before I knew it, I was in a hovercar on our way home.
