Chapter 54:
Arrangements
The next couple days were exhausting. The final names on the list were harder to find. Like rats, they hid in the deepest depths of the city. Even as we kept everything as quiet as we could, there were ways that word got around. People going missing didn't just happen without some kind of ripple effect.
The dregs of society were still a part of society. They hid the moment they felt something wrong. When their friends went missing. What helped to find them was that the sick bastards took videos and pictures. Derek spilled those details, hoping it would lessen his punishment. I gave him a day of rest, but he was far from done.
I didn't watch the videos or see the pictures, I couldn't. Yet, those who had family did. They saw the videos of what their husbands, brothers, sons, and lovers did. They were eager to spill their whereabouts, thinking they were helping arrest criminals. In a way, they were, yet they weren't going to just any prison.
In quick order, we caught them. The videos and pictures were destroyed. Their lives now in the hands of the black sites guards. After they confessed, I didn't look back. Slumped against the seat of the hovercar, Cecelia wrapped a comforting arm around me.
"It's over, love," She whispered soothingly, "Put them from your mind. They won't harm anyone else."
"I know..." I smiled half-heartedly, "Isn't it tiring? How do you do it?"
Looking up at her, she had a tender look on her face. She smiled warmly, squeezing me tightly from the side. "Did I ask something wrong?" My face turned to worry as I began to grow anxious.
"Stop it," Poking my nose gently, she shook her head, "You didn't ask anything wrong."
"...How the hell do you do that?" I laughed lightly, shaking my own head as I leaned into her, "Are you sure you can't read my mind?"
"Maybe I can," She teased, smirking as she pulled my head down into her lap, "I just know you, my dear. As for it being tiring...it can be. It keeps me from you. I need to recharge myself, you know?"
"You know that's not what I meant..." Rolling my eyes playfully, I enjoyed the feel of her thighs under me.
"I know," Her hand brushed through my hair as she smiled peacefully, "I don't get tired of it, no. It has to be done, and so I do it. Their lives are nothing to me. The only lives that matter to me are my family and you. You above all."
Her gaze moved across from us, taking in Sadia who rode along with us. She had been by us every step of the way since capturing Derek. Cecelia's gaze seemed focused in on Sadia.
"You understand, don't you?" She asked Sadia coolly.
"Cecelia..." I called out softly, cautioning her, "Come now..."
"It's alright, Alex," Sadia responded, sighing as she shifted in her seat, "It's honestly refreshing to see someone love another like she loves you. When you said she was a yandere, I honestly thought you were exaggerating."
Tilting her head at the words she heard, Cecelia looked down at me with a raised eyebrow. Amusement and mischief upon her face.
"You did tell her that, didn't you?" She smirked, amused, "Yes, I suppose I am. Alex is mine, and will always be mine. Anyone who harms him will pay. I want him happy, and I will make that happen."
"Cecelia?" I questioned, concerned, "Why are you talking about me in the third person?"
"Because she's talking to me," Sadia answered softly, "I understand, Mrs. Williams."
"If any harm comes to him..." Cecelia continued to talk to Sadia, a slight threat in her voice.
"You have my word," Sadia promised, leaving me rather confused as to what is happening.
"H-Hold on," Sitting up, I looked between the both of them, completely lost, "What's going on here?"
Cecelia's hand reached up to my cheek, gently caressing it. Closing my eyes, I felt my heart calm down as I felt her skin against mine. Taking a breath, I opened my eyes once more.
"Can one of you, please, tell me what's going on?" Calmer now, I reached up and took Cecelia's hand in mine, holding it in my lap instead.
"Well, my love, I've talked with Sadia about a few things," Cecelia told me, looking over at Sadia before back at me, "We've come to an arrangement of sorts."
"What kind of arrangement?" I was concerned, but waited to hear what was going on.
"Nothing horrible," Sadia smiled reassuringly, and I realized then that it was the first time I ever saw her smile, "You saved my life, Alex. Not just mine, but my daughters. I can never repay that."
"But...I really didn't," I responded, blushing lightly in embarrassment, "I just-"

"Alex," Sadia interrupted gently, "You're really humble, but if it wasn't for your warning...My stubbornness would have gotten us both killed. That's a fact."
Frowning, I didn't want to admit she was right, but she was. "Cecelia would have killed them...she would have killed everyone there." Looking back and forth between the two of them, they seemed rather calm.
"Fine, but..." Scratching my head, I was having a hard time understanding, "What does that have to do with what's going on now?"
Taking both my hands in hers, Cecelia cupped them gently. I was feeling anxious, nervous, and was getting very confused. My brain wasn't wanting to listen to me, and it was on its way to a meltdown. Cecelia knew this and took action.
"Come here," She beckoned, pulling me to her, "Let me explain, my love."
Placing my head against her shoulder, she held me tightly. Stroking my head lovingly to calm me. "She's so different from the rest...others would have yelled at me, or given up." Breathing in, I took in her scent, letting it wash over me as my heart beat slowed down, "Honestly, she knows exactly what I need, when I need it. I love this woman..."
"Alright..." I said softly, "Please, explain, my love."
"With pleasure," She smiled warmly, adjusting as she began, "When you asked me not to harm them, I didn't. I saw how your heart went out to them, and how could I betray the trust you placed in me?"
She spoke calmly, explaining as best she could without dragging it out.
"I had pulled guards off of you before you were kidnapped," She continued to explain, her fingers running through my hair kept me calm, "I felt like this was part of the reason you were kidnapped, but the truth was I let down my guard. It won't happen again, however...you don't feel great with guards placed on you. It's too suffocating."
"Yeah..." I agreed, nodding, "I'm sorry..."
"Don't be," She laughed lightly, shaking her head, "I told you, I would find an alternative. One you may be comfortable with, and thus...Sadia."
Finally, it was all beginning to make sense. The reason Sadia was here, the reason she had been by our side all this time. No, not just our side...My side. She had been guarding me. Watching over me.
"So...she's my new guard?" I asked, pushing away reluctantly from Cecelia, yet still staying in her embrace, "Is that why you hired her? That's what you meant by a test earlier?"
"Yes, my love," She nodded, caressing my cheek with the back of her hand, "Your safety is my priority, and I cannot always be around. You have Yuriko, and Julius, but...sometimes they may not be available. Plus, you are an Ishikawa-Alden."
"What...does that mean?" The weight of her words felt heavy to me, "I don't understand."
"She is your personal guard," She told me, "But more than that, she is your attendant. You are a part of the elite now, whether you realize it or not. Sadia will see to your needs, and in exchange I will pay her and give her a place to live. Along with her daughter."
It made sense. I didn't feel as suffocated with Sadia around. She wasn't like the other guards. I was able to actually talk to her and be around her without feeling too drained. "Was that why she was around me all this time? For Cecelia to see how I felt around her?" Smiling to myself, I rested my head back against Cecelia.
"And...this is alright with you?" I asked Sadia, wanting her opinion.
"Yes," She nodded without a second thought, "You saved my life, but more importantly my daughters. I've been looking to get out of this mercenary business. Mrs. Williams gave me that option. It's all thanks to you, Alex."
"I see..." Smiling openly now, I suddenly felt shy, my heart warm, "Then, I'm in your care."
"As I am in yours," Sadia responded, smiling warmly.
I felt my heart skip a beat as I was reminded of how beautiful she was. "Shit...is everyone just a model now?" Glancing up at Cecelia, I was greeted with a look of amusement upon her face. Leaning down, she kissed me gently on the cheek, her lips moving close to my ear.
"She is quite beautiful, isn't she?" Cecelia teased, whispering so that only I could hear.
I felt my blush deepen in embarrassment as I realized she had, in fact, noticed my reaction to Sadia. "Why you..." Narrowing my eyes in on her, I grabbed the back of her head and pulled her in for a deep kiss. I savored the feeling as I lost myself to the softness of her lips. Reluctantly, I pulled away slightly.
"Not as beautiful as you," I whispered back so only she could hear before looking away sheepishly, "...Let's head home."
With a smug, knowing look on her face, she agreed.
