'So, what now?'
Lucas thought while he was walking around the fountain.
Then, he heard someone running to his side.
"Hey, you! The guy who got the thing from the guide. I'm Farhan, what's your name?"
The previous Indian person waved his hand at him.
"What do you want?"
He responded to the man but didn't give him his name given that he was still wary about the whole situation.
'It's still uncomfortable using the divine language when conversing. At least, I can talk with people from all over the world now.'
While he was having such thoughts, he stared at the one who talked to him.
"What do you plan to do now?
The Indian guy was now more direct as he realized that Lucas would be uncooperative.
"I have no idea as well. How about you ask them?"
Lucas said while he pointed to the other people.
Most of the humans were panicking.
Some of them even passed out from the shocking brutal event of seeing someone dying up close.
The blood on the ground was still fresh from the scene with the fountain being dyed in a reddish hue. Its former purity is nowhere to be seen.
However, the most pitiful ones were the children who were crying nonstop while their parents were consoling them.
They were dragged into this cruel situation while having no idea of what their future holds.
Lucas took pity on them as he shook his head looking more determined than ever.
'I can't bother worrying about others when I'm not even sure of my own survival. That 'Greenhorn' from before should be somewhere in this forest.'
He gazed at the forest once more.
The trees were actually similar to the oak trees on Earth except for the fact that their leaves were obsidian black.
It gave the forest an even more creepy sensation.
'Crunch'
Lucas walked toward one of the trees and plucked out a leaf. He put it up against his nose.
'What the hell?! They smell like grapes.'
Then, a sudden hunger waved over him. He really wanted to eat it. He shook his head in disbelief as he threw the leaf away.
'Phew, that thing has made me almost do something irrational. The leaves can trick someone's mind into eating them.'
He then walked beyond the tree with the noises behind him going away as he gradually moved away from the fountain.
A minute passed by in a flash. Silence pervaded the surroundings. There was still nothing other than the crimson trees as far as he could see.
"..."
"Where am I now? Was it a mistake to come here alone? But, who knows what would happen if I stay there?"
Lucas got into the habit of talking to himself again.
He went back to speaking English now that he was alone.
He grabbed a fallen branch with a sharp end nearby and swung it in the air like a stick.
"It's better than nothing, I guess."
'Crunch' 'Crunch'
The sounds of leaves being stepped on.
He was alerted and readied himself as he got into a battle stance.
'That's a Greenhorn!'
The monster charged at him like a maniac. Its two hands with sharp claws were ready to slice him.
Unfortunately for the beast, Lucas dodged its attack with a sidestep and counterattacked.
He stabbed the eyes of the abomination. It fell and thrashed about on the ground. The little Greenhorn put its hands over its injured eye.
"Ha! I never knew all those years of practicing kendo would be used like this."
Lucas didn't give it a chance to recover. Understanding that the stick was no longer usable, he dashed to the beast and head-locked it without hesitation.
The Greenhorn violently fought back, but its arms could barely reach him.
Seconds ticked and then, the creature finally passed out. Lucas let go of his hold and immediately grabbed another stick to stab the monster in the head.
He wanted to make sure it was completely dead.
As confirmation, a Loop that glowed red inside flew out of the Greenhorn's body. He then grabbed it.
'Put it up to my wrist with the colourless Loop.'
Lucas did the same thing as the guide told him.
The red circular thing magically disappeared and he felt a little bit of his power increasing.
'Status'
Another ancient paper materialized before him.

"Damn, it really did increase."
The moment he absorbed the Loop of Strength, he could already feel the changes nevertheless, he still wanted to see it on the paper.
"Wait a second... What about the paper from before? I'm pretty sure I still have it."
Lucas took out the previous status chart from his pocket and saw that the value of strength was 13.
"So, these things are disposable and I need to check my Status if I want an updated one."
He walked toward the corpse and pondered about something.
This man then grabbed a long stick and gazed at the claws of the Greenhorn.
At this moment, he used the sharp ends of the claw to chip out the wooden stick and make it sharper.
'Goddamn, this thing is sharp. Thankfully, I only got a few scratches earlier. I need to be more careful.'
A few minutes passed and the long branch now had a pointy tip that could stab a creature to death.

He then tested it at the dead Greenhorn.
'Schluk!'
Lucas smiled seeing that it was very effective.

"Haaa, haaa... how many does this make?"
Lucas was currently gasping for air as he absorbed the fresh Loop with a green shade.
With bruises and blood all over him, he looked around.
There were countless several bodies of Greenhorns and all of them seemed to have been pierced in the throat or stabbed in the forehead.
It was a horrendous sight to see. It made one question what kind of being could make such a scene.
"Tsk! I never expected that they would come back in several numbers. If I knew, I would have chased that one to death."
He erased such thoughts when he looked at his left wrist with the still colourless Loop. He was about to check his Status once again, but then...
'Rumble'
A 15-meter giant appeared out of nowhere and roared toward the man who killed its brethren.
"Fuck! Not only it called its friends, but it called its Papa too?!"
With its two horns pointing towards the heavens, the King Greenhorn looked viciously at Lucas with a massive blunt weapon in its right hand.
'I don't think I can outrun that thing.'
He focused on the ogre-like monster as in the next moment, it charged at him with a warcry.
Lucas ran to the side and looked at the titan.
This creature actually managed to destroy one of the trees in the forest. It was proof of its unreal power.
'If I get hit by that, I'm done'
While he was shocked at the strength of this monster, it charged at him for a second time.
'Boom!'
He barely dodged once again as another crimson tree fell over the ground.
This time though, he tried to stab the calf of the monster.
"Damn! It can't even scratch it. How am I supposed to kill this thing?!"
Lucas screamed out his frustrations as he ran around like a nimble cat.
The King Greenhorn suddenly realized that its charges don't work, so it finally decided to use its weapon.
"..."
"Is it time for your second phase? Come at me!"
Despite being disadvantaged, Lucas never lost his drive to win. In reality, the fact that his enemy was stronger than him made his blood boil.
The two-horned monster took his taunt and ran angrily at him. The two of them went into contact.
The titan swung its wooden bludgeon at the man while Lucas concentrated to the fullest to evade the attack.
Unfortunately, things don't work that well in real life. It wasn't like a novel where the weak main character fights back and miraculously defeats his overpowered opponent.
This was reality. A place where the weak consume the strong. The law of the jungle was forgotten by the humans as they lived in a peaceful era.
Lucas realized this fact too late as the blunt weapon hit his side chest.
His body flew like a ball hit by a baseball bat.
'Cough!'
He puked out a massive amount of blood and caught it as he looked down. Dizziness filled his whole body from the brutal impact of the bludgeon. A shadow loomed over him.
The man then looked up and saw the bludgeon descending on his head like a harbinger of death.
'Ah... I was too rash.'
Such were the thoughts of Lucas as he understood something in the last moments of his life.
Even so, it was all too late.
'Splat!'
The bat smashed his body from top to bottom.
Numerous Loops came out of his body while the King Greenhorn left the area without touching it.

'Whoosh'
<I don't want to die! I don't want to die! I don't want to die!>
A man was trembling crazily around a recognizable fountain. Then, a familiar voice was heard.
"Hey, you! The guy who got the thing from the guide. I'm Farhan, what's your name?"
It was the Indian guy from before.
<Huh? I'm not dead?>
Lucas woke up from his panicked state.
"What are you talking about? Oh, are you scared? That's understandable. Even I am still frightened."
The Indian person was speaking to him once more.
<I'm not dead.> Lucas continued to repeat this phrase as he grabbed his status chart and examined it properly.

'Cyclic Adventurer. Is it because of this? Anyways, I should be glad that I can live again. I definitely don't wanna die like that.'
Lucas was still trembling faintly from his previous death. It was the most horrendous experience ever in his life.
"Hello, can you understand me?"
He then noticed the guy who was waving at him.
Lucas finally talked to the man with a smile on his face.
"My bad, what's your name again?"
