As I arose from my unwanted slumber for the second time, I found myself aching laying on the stone floor with ashes covering me.

As my brain finally processed everything, going slowly due to just waking, I felt vile rise in my throat once more.

I moved from my lying position into a kneeling position gagging, unable to wretch, due to having already thrown up the contents of my stomach earlier.

My brain was running through what had happened at an increasingly fast speed.

‘I’m a murderer, I killed a person’

I felt myself hyperventilating because of the trauma and started to asphyxiate from the lack of oxygen reaching my lungs.

I could tell that my mental state was horrible, I found myself shaking from fear? anger? guilt?

All of these emotions were flooding through me and all I could do was curl into the fetal position and cry.

*Several Hours Later*

The Cannibal’s knife remained resting on the ground a few feet from me reminding me of what I needed to do.

‘I needed to survive.’

My mind was slow to the chase as I remembered how I had killed the man, bringing a whole extra round of mental torment.

‘I used magic and incinerated him’

That was the moment it really clicked with me, I had used magic.

Magic was hardly a common thing in my everyday life, there was about 1 in 750,000 people who possessed the ability to awaken and manipulate mana. This meant that there were around 18,700 people who possessed the ability to wield mana.

Because of this, it was near impossible for me to understand how to necessarily use magic, much less use it as a weapon.

As I tried to recall the sensation of rage and anger I had felt the magic that I wanted to draw forth never appeared. It was all too disappointing.

Now there was no other choice for me than to mark a decision which hall to walk down, I could immediately eliminate the hallway the Cannibal came from so I was able to choose from either going left or straight ahead.

Making my choice I decided the hop straight ahead, hoping for the best.

I had been going straight for at least a day at this point, with a couple breaks and naps in between, and my leg was aching worse than ever before. I also had to mention that my arm which had been sliced by the knife was beginning to release a dull throbbing causing my close-by shoulder to ache as well.

The only difference now was that I had finally seen a change in the hall, as maybe a mile further away there stood a tall set of doors.

The doors were a dull oak brown, The door handles also appeared to a brassy-bronze showing a distorted reflection jolting off of them.

This was most likely the best hope for me surviving as when I had tried to eat the moss growing from the walls it had induced dangerous levels of nausea causing me to throw up whatever remained inside of my stomach.

I had put everything into the final stretch before reaching the doorway even falling upon it.

My hand turned the handle slowly, anticipating if this was just some trick or a trap to end my life.

As my hand twisted the handle fully there was a flash of white light blinding my eyes before I found myself within what appeared to be a rural neighborhood block with a mix and match of architecture, some of which I had never seen before.

Some of the houses appeared to be merged trees that had windows and delicate decorations attached to them. Others appeared more futuristic, having a house slightly floating off the ground.

The one that truly stuck out the most was a house that appeared to have been merged with a castle having a red and yellow flag sticking out of it, with the design embroidered upon the flag being a black griffin.

The entirety of this place felt otherworldly and mysterious in nature, a curiousness coming over me.

And so, I began my trek to search through this new zone.
