Upon waking I found myself in world shattering pain. The stub of my missing leg was painful as hell.

As I screamed in pain I started to wretch, vile flooding out onto the stoney floor.

I remained unable to move for what felt like an eternity from violent, brain shattering bursts of pain flooding through my head.

I was unable to move for hours, trying to focus on anything besides the pain, no longer just feeling painful but ice cold, as though what used to be my leg was dipped in liquid nitrogen.

Finally the pain began to fade, whether it be from the pain receptors exhausting themselves or me adapting to the mass amounts of pain. I felt relieved.

My eyes which I had kept shut from the pain finally opened. The skin underneath my eyes was raw from the streams of tears.

As I adjusted to the dim lighting I was finally able to take note of my surroundings.

The uncomfortable surface I had been laying on for the past several hours was made of stone brick. The walls seemed to be similar except some of the exposed spaces were filled with varying green like moss, vines, and what appeared to be algae despite there being a lack of sea water.

I crawled to one of the walls to try and pull myself to stand upright. It is surprisingly difficult to balance on one leg when one’s spent their whole life on two legs. I’m saying this because I face planted several times before managing to somewhat balance myself on my singular, nondominant leg.

As I now checked further around me I appeared to be in some kind of hallway, seemingly stretching in opposite directions as far as my eye could see before rounding a corner or having several choices in ways to go.

Before deciding to move I knew that I needed to analyze the materials I had access to.

I had a shattered phone, courtesy of falling on it after losing my leg. I was severely lacking in food and water thanks to me losing my bag while trying to run from that monster.

It was then I remembered something I had learned in an agriculture class, people used to eat algae and that some mosses are edible but might cause nausea. However, there was no better option, it would have to be eaten or I would starve within a few days.

I stuffed some of the mosses around me into the pocket of the side with my remaining leg.

I was exhausted at this point. I was bouncing around thanks to my one leg, which was very tiring to my core and remaining leg.

By this point I knew there was no choice but to move down the halls. I began traversing the tunnels.

After several hours of bouncing I had taken a break at an intersection in the corridors, I mean what else could I do.

That was when I heard the scuffling of footsteps echoing from the tunnel from my right. As I looked in that direction frightened but what it could possibly be I saw a man with relatively handsome features and a bald head. He appeared skinny as though he hadn’t eaten for a few days. His clothes also appeared grimy and dirty as though having escaped from something.

I looked the dirt and grime over as whatever I had seen before entering wherever here was, likely wasn’t contained to just my sister killing everyone but others doing the same.

I didn’t know why, but he seemed somewhat familiar, maybe I had seen him on the news some time recently.

As he approached me his brows furrowed with what appeared to be concern as he now rushed towards me. His eyes felt kind, I didn’t know how else to describe it.

“Hey, hey, are you okay?” he called to me.

It was at this point I realized how big this place could really be and I began to wonder

‘Why am I here, what did I do to deserve this? How many people are here? What happened to my sister, my mom, even my dad?’

Thousands of questions seemed to flood through my head as I now realized I was not alone in this corridor. All I knew was that if there was one person, there was likely more.

As the seconds passed as he approached me I began to feel hopeful.

Time seemed to slow as I pancicked and saw what unfeld before me, his eyes went from a warm brown to a regal purple as his kind aura vanished, replaced by a murderous intent. In his hand appeared a knife, sliding out of his shirt sleeve and I saw it slice through the air towards me.

‘What the shit.’

With me still sitting on the ground I pushed off with my one leg with all my might landing myself a few feet from him with him still charging toward me.

Adrenaline boosting my reactions allowed me to dodge his second swing with a knife. But I wouldn’t manage to keep this up, he appeared to be confident with his knife whereas I have little to no experience fighting others, much less with lives on the line.

With his third swing already coming down on me I leaped backward once more this time missing landing on my remaining leg falling backward and cracking my head on the hard floor.

It was at this point my memory was jared and I remembered who was in front of me. His name was The Cannibal, a murderer who was known for torturing and consuming his victims. I knew he had recently escaped, but who would’ve known he would end up here in front of me.

The man leapt onto my chest, restraining my arms to prevent me from struggling. His knife came down and sliced through my right arm cutting off a small slab of my flesh. I screamed as the pain flooded into my head.

My eyes blurred with tears and saw something that distrubed me, he grabbed the slice of flesh and consumed it all the while looking me in the eyes.

That was when something clicked inside my brain. The world spun as rage, anger, fear, and pain flooded my brain. It felt as though an inferno burned throughout me as my eyes saw orange, red, and yellow.

Right where The Cannibal sat on me now was a raging fire burning with its beautiful shades of red and orange. The warmth from the flames allowed the freezing cold from where my leg should have been to finally warm, cleansing myself from its pain.

The fire vanished as I felt myself fade back into the void of unconsciousness.
