Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Breakthrough.

“Blood of a giant insect, Blade mantis.” I begin thinking. I can consume the blood to advance. The problem with this method, I need to remove the poison and it might have some side effects.

 

Looking around the lab, I don’t think they have a machine that can purify poisonous blood. It looks like I need to do the painful way to advance to an adept rank. Looking at the insect blood, perhaps I should visit planet Zitrao in the future.

 

On Assiorath world, there is a mage called Blood mage, the way they advance by consuming blood. That causes the Blood mage to become addicted and irrational after consuming too much blood. That leads to blood poisoning and to advance they need to consume multiple high rank creatures.

 

Actually they can stop consuming blood and focus on absorbing mana instead, but they refused to change. In the end, almost all of the Blood mage have been hunted down after they kill and consume almost the entire town inhabitant blood. 

 

In my case I have no choice, vital energy here is not enough and will take me a long time to have a breakthrough. Going back to the chamber that stored the metal crate, I began making preparations.

I don’t know how long I have been here. After being kidnapped, me and others have been used as experiment subjects. 

 

Most of the time I only feel pain, I must be inside one of the large glass tubes. Because I can feel liquid around me, I want to get out. I want to live.

 

One day I heard a noise outside my glass tube, although I couldn't hear properly I knew the sound of the alarm.         

 

I hope they are people coming to rescue us, in the end I fall asleep.

Few days later, I have already made my preparations and my vital energy has already recovered. In front of me are seven container glass tubes. The size of a large water bottle, that contain the insect blood.

 

Opening one of the containers, I can smell an awful stench. I'm almost going to puke my morning breakfast. Taking a deep breath and using my vital energy to protect my organ, I begin to drink the green blood.

 

I am feeling a burning sensation inside my body. I can feel the insect blood is corroding my vital energy and flesh. My face and body begin to sweat because of the pain inside my stomach.

 

Fume can be seen coming from my nostril, mouth and ear. I quickly cast my poison magic and use my assassin skill name create poison, to control the poisonous blood. Separating and coalescing the poison, I spit out the poison concentration on the floor. The floor begins to corrode and melt.

 

The insect blood in my body begins to be absorbed inside my flesh and blood. I can feel the vital energy in my heart and brain are increasing. Looking at the remaining insect blood, I clenched my jaw and drank all of the insect blood.

 

I feel the same pain every time I drink it and I spit out the poison. The air around me begins to stir at the same time the insect blood already flows into my body. The vital energy inside my brain and heart are already at their limit.

 

After a while, everything calms down. Opening my eyes, I see everything differently and I can sense vital energy more sensitively.

 

I already have experience to breakthrough in adept rank for mage and assassin. Because of that I have no bottleneck to advance. Standing up I feel different, first I need to take a shower my body stinks. 

 

I ignore the rotting corpses along the way. I will leave this place soon and don’t need to hide the corpses. After taking a shower, I go to the lab that has the experimental subject.

 

There are five large glass tubes in the lab, two of them are empty. According to the reading only one is still alive, the rest is dead. I am not sure if the thing inside is a human or other species.

 

The subject that is still alive has black hair, reptile skin and wears latex clothes covering the private part. It's better if I check the information inside their computer.

I begin reading the experiment data, maybe I can use it as reference. With my adept rank brain, I practically have a photographic memory.

Not far from the forest, a spaceship is heading to the secret underground lab.

 

“Who is the captive that we send this time?” The spaceship pilot asked.

 

The shaved hair man looked at his subordinate and spoke. “The captive used to be our organization's top spy.

 

“What! That middle aged man?”

 

“Yes, he is our spy in the human federation, but he knows too much. Rather than killing him the higher up spared him to become an experimental subject.”

 

Inside the spaceship prison, a middle aged man with brown hair and a goatee is being handcuffed. The weird thing is that a man can open and close the handcuff several times.

 

“To think you all betrayed me, don’t blame me for what will happen in the future.”

 

Vance has been working for the Dread organization for a long time, and because he refused to give certain information from the federation. The Dread organization decided to depose him, fortunately he has no family.

 

The spaceship begins to land in front of the secret lab door.

A man with shaved hair standing up from his seat. “Bring out the prisoner and the metal crate, I will go in first.”

 

“Yes, sir.”  

 

The shaved hair man, like usual, scans his eyes to open the metal door. Entering the secret underground lab, his nose suddenly twitches because he smells something awful. He looks around and sees a corpse, and a head without the body, that already begins to be putrefied. 

 

Seeing that the shaved hair man looks stern and calls for backup. After several minutes five people including him, take out their assault rifle and enter the secret underground lab.

“Interesting, however it was useless if the people using the drug died. From what I see it good to be use in suicide mission.”  While I am reading, I sense something.

 

“It looks like; someone is entering the lab.” Standing up, I look at the experiment subject that is still alive. I still don’t know, should I end her misery or save her.

 

After looking at her for a while and putting on my gas mask, I left the lab.

The five men see many corpses. “Who has done this?”

 

“I think it is the federation.”

 

“Impossible, this place is secluded and far away from any city.”

 

Suddenly they hear footsteps. “Everyone get ready to shoot.” What they see is a man wearing a black military uniform and a gas mask.

 

Seeing that the shaved hair man sighs in relief. Because the black uniform belongs to the guard here. “You, what happened here?”

 

“The experimental subject escaped.” I continue walking toward them.  

 

“This is serious; we need to report it to the base.”

 

 “You are right; I also have something else to report.” While talking, I transfer my vital energy into my leg.

 

“What is it?” The shaved hair man said and didn't notice anything strange.

 

“Your death.”

 

“What?”

 

 “Boom!” I press my foot on the floor and the floor begins to crack. At the same time, I sprint fast toward the five men. Without stopping I take out my two daggers and move past the five men. After that I stop moving and turn around to look at them. On my dagger there is blood dripping to the floor.

 

They don’t even have time to react. “What are you doing?” The shaved hair man looks confused, and suddenly he notices his vision is falling to the floor. The same thing with the other four men.

 

They finally notice that their heads have been decapitated. 

 

“Without using skill, I can still kill them easily.” I return back to the lab to release the experimental subject and activate the timer for the secret lab to self-destruct to destroy all evidence. 

 

Actually I can report this place, but it would make me an enemy of the Dread organization. Another thing I don’t trust the government to keep secret.

 

I press the button to release the experiment subject. The liquid inside the glass tube quickly drains and the glass tube goes down to release her.

 

I begin checking her condition and at the same time cast a rejuvenation spell to heal minor injury and wake her up.

 

The woman slowly opens her eyes, seeing the gas mask man. The woman tries to open her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. Maybe because she has been inside the glass tube for too long.

 

Seeing that I spoke. “You just need to shake or nod your head.”

 

The woman heard that nodded her head. After that I explained her condition and the woman when quiet. I also offer her a painless way to die.

 

Few minutes later, the woman shakes her head and finally speaks weakly. “I want to live.”
