Chapter 22: Chapter 21: Sorrow.

Kaross city, Oakdale Hospital.

 

“I am sorry we have done everything we could.” After saying a few more things about my mother's condition, the doctor and nurse left.

 

I can see my mother's disfigured face and body as I enter the operating room. She's also missing her right hand. The doctor says they can't save her because of her critical injury. The chemicals from the explosion are causing her body to gradually shut down. The chemical has additional side effects.

 

Daisy slowly opened her eyes and spoke weakly. “Is that you Levi, I am sorry to worry you.”

 

“Don’t worry mother, you will be fine.”

 

Daisy hears that smile and tries hard not to look sad. She realizes she doesn't have much time left. “Yes, I will be fine.” After saying that she falls asleep because of the medicine.

 

Walking outside the operation room, David is waiting for me.

 

“Young master, Madam has prepared everything in case anything happens to her. The lawyer will prepare the paperwork for the inheritance.”

 

Hearing that I take a deep breath, to calm myself. I never thought I would feel sorrow again like in my past life, when my mother passed away.

 

I looked at David and spoke. “Tell the hospital, I will transfer my mother to Pharherb.”

 

David wanted to say something, in the end nodded his head. He knows his young master has an eccentric personality. Because of that he decided to follow orders. “Yes, young master.”  

 

Since the hospital can’t save Daisy. They allowed Levi to take her after signing an agreement to release her, and if anything happened the hospital will not be responsible.

The cities in planet Otune, right now are in chaos. On every screen there is news about what happened.

 

[“Terrorist have attack all the city on Otune.”]

 

[“Right now, we have confirmed around nine thousand casualties from the terrorist attack.”]

 

[“This is the worst terrorist attack that have happened on Otune.”]

 

[“Many buildings and public places have been attack by explosive device.”]

 

[“The Otune Government and Federation promised to never lets this thing happened again.”]

 

[“The General Conor, have proposed a plan to fight the terrorist.”]

 

[“The Federation have send a high rank hunter to help planet Otune.”]

 

[“There is a friction in Otune government.”]

Pharherb, Professor Henry an elderly man with messy white hair and several other people have prepared everything. After Levi and his mother arrive, Levi enters the experiment room that he built a few years ago.

 

Daisy is on the operating bed; her heartbeat is irregular. My thoughts are still conflicted; if she dies, I will be haunted by guilt for the rest of my life. Putting both of my hands on her chest, a magical formation called "Heal" appears. The injury heals slightly, but after casting it several times more, my vital energy in my brain to cast magic has vanished. My mother's injury is too serious, and my mage rank still is adept.

 

Although the vital energy in my heart hasn't been used, it can't cast magic because of its different properties. My mother's complexion is still pale and I don’t know how long my mother can hold on.

 

I first need to remove the chemical inside her body, according to the doctor the chemical is blocking the human cell to heal and regrow. That means she can’t regrow her right hand. Thanks to magic the human cell has been forced to heal but it will not last long.

 

“Let’s try if I can destroy the chemical.” Both my hands are on Daisy again, but this time I use vital energy in my heart to check her condition to see if the vital energy can destroy the chemical. The vital energy slowly enters my mother's blood stream. 

 

After one hour, I look at my mother's disfigured face, most of her hair already gone because of the explosion. My vital energy can destroy it but is not enough and her injury might get worse if I am not careful.

 

The only way to extend her life is by using a low rank healing potion. This planet only has low rank herbs, and with my adept rank strength I can only make low quality potions.

 

There is another way, by using life drain skills. However, my mother is not a vampire or necromancer. If only there was herbs here to create mana potion to restore my energy.

 

Looking at my mother one more time, I leave the room. Outside the room is David and Professor Henry that have fallen asleep on the long bench.

 

“Young master, how is madam?” David asks nervously, he knows from the doctor that her condition is grim.

 

“My mother's condition is still critical.”

 

Hearing that the butler looks gloomy.

 

“You go home and rest. Don’t worry, here we have a nurse, and Professor Henry used to be a doctor.”

 

“Yes, young master.”

 

“Professor Henry woke up.”

 

The elderly man slowly opens his eyes. “Is it morning already?”

 

“No, I need your help to look after my mother. I have a place that I need to go.”

 

“Don’t worry, leave it to me.”

 

Walking outside the building my mind feels tired. Why I save her, for a general that has killed many people in my past life. As long as I survive, the rest doesn’t matter. Looking at the night sky my body and heart feel heavy. In the end I am still human, not a monster.

Next day, Black Cobra group. Wearing a white mask, I enter Liam's room.

Liam saw me stand up and spoke. “Mr. Sylas, why are you here?”

 

“How is Vance and Chris?”

 

“They are fine; do you have any order for them?”

 

“I want to know the latest information about all terrorist group in Otune.”

 

“I will tell them.”

 

“Where is Sara?”

 

“Inside the training room.”

 

“How is her training?”

 

Liam faced change to an apprehension and spoke. “She is a monster, and even defeated the most experienced fighter in the group.”

 

“Call her here, I need to bring her somewhere.”

The city right now is under high alert after the terrorist attack. In the sky can be seen a drone flying around. The humans still need to work to survive even if they are afraid.

 

Walking around a back alley is a man and woman. I am wearing a human face mask, the same with Sara.

 

“How is your body?”

 

“It’s getting better.”

 

“Have you sensed vital energy?”

 

“No.”

 

Teaching her the gathering vital energy technique, has failed. The reason my body succeeded was because of my past experience. With the thin vital energy here it is almost impossible for people to learn it.

 

“Mr. Sylas, why are you bringing me here?”

 

“To kill people.”

 

Sara heard that became silent and after a while she spoke. “I am ready.” She knows this day will come.

 

A group of men are walking in the same alley. “The police and army are everywhere; we can’t do our business.”

 

“Be patient.”

 

One of the man see someone in the alley. “Who's there!”

 

They see a man and woman.

 

The man’s takeout their gun, since the first terrorist attack this year. The government have been killing and captured people that have connection with terrorist group. It’s better to be careful. 

 

I looked at Sara and spoke. “Go.”

 

Sara without any fear sprint toward the group of men.

 

Seeing Sara rush toward the enemy, I can only facepalm. “What are you doing? use your gun!” After that I use shadow movement to appear in front of her.

 

Several bullets have been fired with my shield. All the bullets slow down and fall down to the ground. The group of men were shocked to see that.

 

Sara doesn't even stop to approach them. She takes hold of the man's arm and starts swinging him around like a weapon.

 

The man next to her is struck by his comrade's body and flies into the wall.

 

“Ahhh help me!”

 

“This woman is crazy, shoot her!”

 

This time no one helps her, Sara uses the man's body as a shield. The bullets pierce the man's body. When she gets near, Sara punches and kicks the man that is near her. 

 

After several minutes, all of them are on the ground groaning in pain. Sara is panting on the ground; this is her first time fighting to the death.

 

I walk up to her and see only one man die from a bullet. "What are you doing, stand up and finish them." This is harsh for her, but there is no other choice. To fight a large organization, I need to create a team.

 

Sara standing up shaking, taking the gun near her. She went to the man and put the gun on his forehead. “I am sorry!”

 

“Bang!”

 

The other man began groveling and begging. She ignored them and killed them all. After doing that she pukes and faints.

 

"Sigh, still a long way to go." Raising my hand, something has been absorbed into my body and entered my soul. Carrying Sara on my shoulder. I walk around looking for somewhere to hide. People must have heard the gunshot and reported it to the police.
